For the power, You can get a connect for the fuse box, an inline fuse, cut the power cable head off and wire it direct power to a spare fuse port and not have to run the wire down to the dash.
The reason the rear camera video feed looks brown isn’t because your windows tinted - it’s because you didn’t take off the brown colored protective piece of plastic on the front of the lens.
I heard some review that the 10" has more vertical length than 12" as described on Amazon. However, 10" cam has no voice control. Sometimes, it gets frozen up due to overheating and massive recording storage in SD card. The touchscreen becomes unresponsive but voice control works. Both will work without interfering your sun visors.
I don't recall you mentioning that you can change the length of your video recordings to 1, 2, or 3 minutes. I may not have heard it because you covered so much so quickly. I set mine to 3 minutes and it works great. Great tutorial for a great product. I have had mine for over a year and it works great but I still learned a couple of things here. Ours worked great for one month. Now it won't even power on, even though we have it plugged into the battery/lighter port and the light is on indicating it's receiving power. Any ideas? This started in August, when we had to park the car outside instead of the garage. Is this the heat issue other spoke of?

The only thing that makes me hesitant is losing the automatic dimming function of my factory mirror. Seems like it could be really annoying at night with bright lights behind you.
One major drawback. I love my VANTOP 612T. I have a convertible Toyota Solara, it is impossible to see the video screen with the top down. The glare completely washes out the video image. However, I can adjust the Mirror by turning it and using just the normal reflection. Otherwise, so far , Awesome!

Honestly, if your car doesn't have a backup camera, you should totally use the camera for it. I have it installed my my Corolla and the resolution is great.
I pushed my 128 card down into the slot, I felt the spring and I heard it click. The card fell right out. Isn't it supposed to lock in and then you push it again to remove it?
The release mechanism for the Card is awful. Needs to be redone. You don’t push down to release, you put your fingernail under the top side of the card and pull up. Good luck!

It probably stamps location info onto video so hopefully accurate data if accident or something happens. It may also determine your speed also, so don't speed with it Lol!
I bought the VanTop H612T, but some functions do not run well. The equipment does not have a week of use and has already been defective. The equipment gets very hot. Perhaps for that reason, you will also stop filming. Performs functions that are disabled, such as emergency shooting, without permission. I am using a quality card, reliable manufacturer, 128Gb card with high speed.
Mine also gets insanely hot, and I imagine it could be a fire hazard if left on for long periods of time. Given that the rear camera view simply will not tilt upward when I slide my finger up the left side of the screen, it would be an understatement to say I am a dissatisfied buyer.

I just can't believe that if I put it to a sleep mode, putting the reverse the image don't go on...Only if the mirror cam is on (and in that case I dont have a mirror because it's shows it's icons) it automaticly switch to the back camera, once I insert the reverse..Does your mirror dash cam is showing automatically the reverse picture when you insert the reverse IN CASE YOU HAVE SWITCHED THE MODE TO HAVE ONLY THE MIRROR or you need to turn it on like me in order to see the reverse picture, but in that case the mirror is ON with it's icons so you can't see the things behind your car? Hardware kits are only needed if you want to plug it into the car's fuse box for the purpose of utilizing the "Parking Guard" feature. Otherwise you just use the typical car charger plug that's included. Nothing else is needed.

We just got this for my son. He placed it inside the rear windshield (Toyota Avalon). Cars are a lot closer than they look in the dash cam. So if it looks like there are 5 lengths between you and the car behind you, it's more like 2. When cars come up beside you to pass on the highway, it's more accurate. You can always do a reality check in the side view mirror. The good thing about this placement is that there is no blind spot. When you don't see the car in the dash cam, you see it right beside you. This all may be true if you place it outside on the back of car, just not sure. In my Toyota Highlander, the cheap back up camera is placed outside and only works when backing up. Objects are a lot closer than they appear too. Two other good things about placing it inside is, depending where you live, you won't have to unpack snow for it to work and you don't have to worry about someone clipping it off and stealing it. Other points about placing it inside: you get glare from and reflections, when it rains or snow, visibility is markedly reduced as you are seeing the wet back windshield (but this could also be true if placing it outside.)

If you haven't already, I've read a high endurance micro sd card is most ideal since the footage is going to be constantly looping. The most the dashcam will support is 128gbs. Just ordered a sandisk high endurance 128gb micro sd card on amazon for $22. Hopefully that helps your issue.
What flat out kills this thing, full stop, is the external GPS with that honking huge long wire. If GPS can be crammed into a cell phone or an itty bitty dashcam body, it sure as hell can fit in that thing which is... what... 3x the size of a typical cell phone?

It's basically functioning as a rearview mirror. There is no obstruction. The ones that that rule is for are the ones you stick on your windshield or dashboard.

Hello, thanks for the information, very good video for people who want to buy one of these cameras in Amazon. Some questions are the rear camera resistant to water and low temperatures to install it outside and not inside and how does the GPS work.
It is used as a backup camera at license plate so I would say yes. GPS is actually just a speed recording nothing else. One of the important point is sometimes it gets overheated if sits outside on sunny days and is frozen (touch screen is unresponsive), but voice control stills work.
Once the back up camera gets damaged you are done is really hard to find and if you take it to a radio car shop they gonna try to charge you $75 just to check the cable for the back up camera.

There's a few things about this camara that really disappointed me. The glare is so horrendous during a sunny day that I can see NOTHING of the images captured by the camaras. Not a deal breaker. I just keep it in "sleep mode" and let it record while I use it as a mirror. The down side with that is that it doesn't have the ability to dim the bright headlights from behind at night. I'll likely can this camara for the more conventional style.
Performs adequately. I am using an obd adapter for power. I have wired the red wire from the backup camera to the backup lights. The first time I started the car, the dashcam came on. However it hasn't started with engine start subsequently. Further it has never switched to backup cam when put in reverse. Also, it fails to go into parking mode unless turned off manually. When played back, video is jerky and audio is unintelligible. Furthermore, the gps is so slow in updating, I can drive my grandson to school and back and speed still shows 0 when I get back. My Garmin gps updates very fast. There are probably much better brands. Wouldn't recommend this one.
This is very interesting. I know you mentioned that if it's off it still kind of acts like a rearview mirror as well as the back camera, but to me that seems like it defeats the purpose of a "rearview" mirror. Is there a way to put it on the dashboard instead? I think that's how I would use it. Just 3D print some brackets and put it on the dashboard. But other than that, great video man, keep up the good work!
I have factory backup camera separately and use it as a rearview mirror so I can see you five lanes on freeways including blind spots. By the way, on Amazon they have a kind of bracket that you can mount it just below your original mirror if you want. I do not recommend it as the original mirror may get heavier and sagged down due to gravity.

It's darker than a normal mirror, almost like it's on dim mode on a normal mirror. It's almost too dark at night.
I have the H610, and can tell you the display, on full dim, is more comfortable than a dimmed normal mirror

It is the problem of the time zone, correct the time zone in the GPS settings, and let it same as your local city time.
A notification shows on my screen it says “your Card’s speed is too low please replace soon “ and because of that it doesn’t records what should I do?

There's a few things about this camara that really disappointed me. The glare is so horrendous during a sunny day that I can see NOTHING of the images captured by the camaras. Not a deal breaker. I just keep it in "sleep mode" and let it record while I use it as a mirror. The down side with that is that it doesn't have the ability to dim the bright headlights from behind at night. I'll likely can this camara for the more conventional style.
Performs adequately. I am using an obd adapter for power. I have wired the red wire from the backup camera to the backup lights. The first time I started the car, the dashcam came on. However it hasn't started with engine start subsequently. Further it has never switched to backup cam when put in reverse. Also, it fails to go into parking mode unless turned off manually. When played back, video is jerky and audio is unintelligible. Furthermore, the gps is so slow in updating, I can drive my grandson to school and back and speed still shows 0 when I get back. My Garmin gps updates very fast. There are probably much better brands. Wouldn't recommend this one.
awww i shoulda bought something like this instead of an actual dashcam. o well its too hot where i live so gonna have to make do with my dash cam.
I wonder if this would fit nicely on a car with on star mirrors
This is very interesting. I know you mentioned that if it's off it still kind of acts like a rearview mirror as well as the back camera, but to me that seems like it defeats the purpose of a "rearview" mirror. Is there a way to put it on the dashboard instead? I think that's how I would use it. Just 3D print some brackets and put it on the dashboard.
But other than that, great video man, keep up the good work!
I have factory backup camera separately and use it as a rearview mirror so I can see you five lanes on freeways including blind spots. By the way, on Amazon they have a kind of bracket that you can mount it just below your original mirror if you want. I do not recommend it as the original mirror may get heavier and sagged down due to gravity.
U sound like my husband,question what is a purpose of that mirror, when i have a back camera when i reverse and to change lanes u got to move your own head on your own neck.if it was illegal they would not sell it,we had a fight about it,but i am not return it.i live it and want to keep it
