I just installed a V5 Pro in my F150. I had to use it without power for a few days. As a mirror, it is not very good compared to a normal, glass rear view mirror. The reflection is dark and wavy at the edges. Powered on, the view is outstanding!

Same here. I wasn't aware they have them built into rear view mirrors. I like the fact that it doesn't have rubber straps. If you bought one how does the mirror it self work?
This is by far the most definitive instructional how to video I have ever watched knowing You Tube, it far exceeds even the AUTO VOX websites instructions, absolutely every area was covered in fine detail, there is only one question I have and that is concerning the wire to the reverse light, I have an older 80's model Camaro, how do I know what side of the light or plug is positive to tap into with the red wire supplied?.

Very Good Review...sent to me by Auto -Vox itself. Today a technician installed the mirror in my Ford Focus and I need the highligth two things: 1.- The Mirror itself has really good reflective properties so, as the Video says, it can perfectly be used as a normal mirror without the use of the cams. This is good and bad. Good because any failure in the cams doesnt invalidate the use of the product as a normal mirror...Bad, using the cams you cannot point the mirror towards rear windshield because what is seen by the rear or front cams superpose with the reflection of the mirror itself, not being able to see well and distracting your view which is dangerous as you drive. I pointed the mirror a little upward so as to reflect the roof of my car, which it isnt so "bright" so you have no problems seing the video sent by the cams. 2.- I really dont understand very well, and is poorly explained, the use of the parking brackets and the way to calibrate them. They must have a logic because the rear cam itself "deform" the view making a little bit difficult to estimate the distance to different objects. One last thing...a really terrible one....If you receive a unit with the arm separated from the mirror itself PLEASE RETURN THE PRODUCT INMEDIATELY. That was my case...but I never realized this until it was too late...I thought it was a normal thing and that it was very simple to attach the arm to the mirror. How wrong I was!!!... Only after taking out my original Ford Focus rear mirror, which is a very delicate and dangerous process because you have to make preassure towards the windshield with lot of known results of braking it, I realized that the Arm didnt fit in the mirror, even if you apply lot of preassure to make it fit (with the risk of damaging the mirror itself)... At that point the technician refuses to install the V5 Pro, because it was a defective product. So I saw myself with a bad V5 Pro in one hand (sending back to Amazon from my Country take months), my original Ford Focus Mirror in the other (not daring again to put it back in place with a new risk of breaking the Windshield) and with a car without inside panels... Luckily I get creative when I am angry, and believe me , I was really upset with Auto-Vox. So I literally disassembled the mirror, being able to loose a metal bracket form the rear (I really dont know how I did that) and finally making lot of preassure was able to insert the arm in the mirror itself. Clearly the arm was separated from the mirror because it was of a greater diameter than the hole (the pivot)....But I[ was able to insert it anyway, with the result that the pastic itself was a little bit deformed. Putting the metal bracket back was an odissey. Its function is to apply preassure arround the pivot so as to make it stiff. I had to deform it to a greater diameter with tools and heat, so as being able to surround the more sized pivot. Finally the result was not a very clean fix but the round tap behind the mirror, was able to hide what was done... I really hope the adittional pressure that the pivot is making to the mirror, doesnt result in a future failure. For now, it works perfectly and with no visual sign of the problem. REALLY FOR A SO PRICEY PRODUCT ITS A SHAME WHAT HAPPENED TO ME....The only good thing of all this tragedy was that the Technician was so surprised (really surprised) I was able to fix the problem (using his facility and tools anyway), while he was only watching with a smile on his face saying "you will not succed", that he reduced his fee more than a half..so what I have to pay was a very low fee.
This should be installed in every with all the carjackings going on this would be a great way to monitor what the folks behind you are doing. It would be nice to see how many people you have to deal with in cause of an emergency.
One of the best reviews, clear and in full detail. I'm going to get the AUTO-VOX T9 without the dashcam just for constant rear view mirror for a Ford Transit low roof cargo van with no rear windows. I want to install the rear camera on top of the roof and am thinking of using some creative way to make the camera look good, such as a shark fin antenna cover or even a custom made trapezoidal housing. One question, I read somewhere that the constant power cable is for keeping the time on the mirror from resetting. The mirror I'm guessing turns on when the ignition switch is turned on to ACC mode. Is there a way (unless it already works that way) to have the mirror come on as soon as you open the car door, which means it should have some kind of auto shut-off when you open the door (just like some of the factory features work such as the radio) or some time after turning ignition to OFF and not opening the door?
Does it do speed logging? I didn't see it in the tests you did. Can the videos have the GPS info and speed embedded to the video? This can significantly improve results for conflict resolution should you record something that requires it.

I use Uconnect to listen to and respond to my text messages while driving and the speakers are on my rear view mirror. Thanks for the detailed review. How to instal it with a different mirror bracket adapter. If i remove the factory bracket from the windshield, how should i paste the new bracket to the windshield as i think a good quality double sided tape wouldn't be enough toh hold the mirror's weight. I am just finishing up the review of the new VIOFO A139 3 channel dashcam. Front camera is 4k, and inside and rear camera is FHD. So far everything tested really good. Has wifi and gps logging. Please try install the mirror on a Honda with the adapter comes with the system to see if the mirror nice and tie. I installed a Auto Vox T2 on my civic 09’s with adapter but the mirror shaking while driving.

Unless you have limo tint (5%), it should be fine mounting it behind the tinted window. You can mount it outside but requires a lot more work to route the wire.

The camera you shot the video on lacks colour quality, so the entire thing looks pale in the colour department, so we cannot judge the true colour quality of this product? Also, I have a Mazda 3 so a list of cars matching the 3 supplied bracket adapters, would be a great help for potential buyers like me?
i installed mine last week, i came here looking to see if there was a way to zoom in on the screen for the rear camera so you could see more when the rear camera is on while driving. as it stands, in my side view mirrors, cars that look 3 car lenghts behind look about 1/4-1/2 mile back in the rear view. they are so small......and cars that are right on my ass in the side view look like they are 2-3 car lengths behind me. aside from that my only other complaint is when you have it aimed to be an actual rear view mirror during the day.... if the screen is on, the glare on the mirror bugs your eyes out as you try to focus on the camera and the reflection to comprehend what you are seeing... its like an instant headache for me so i just moved the mirror away and use it as a screen only.... hoping i get used to it sometime. everything else i reaaaaaaaallllllly love about this thing...i just hope i find a way to zoom it in some

The problem with having the front camera integrated with the mirror is it is mounted too high. I want to see low vision for parking assistance, not just traffic. that requires a wireless front camera.
My bf installed this for me in April. I can't find where the grid lines are. It's kinda useless w/o grids. And my camera won't stay pointed out. It flops down and I have a great view of the pavement. I'm using Duct tape, and I'm not very impressed. Can anyone help?
@dial2fast very beautiful but a bit useless to me, it still uses the rearview mirror and all i want to do is tho toss out the windows that useless mirror, dont really know why they put that mirror there only blocks the view, i mean its usefull to see if the cops are not following you when you are speeding but useless in other way, now if you can get a mirror that i can put it on my dash that would be GOLD it wont block my windshield view!
With mine, the rear-camera images is reversed left-to right. So things on my left are on the right of the screen. I cant use it like this… anyone know how to change it?
@@Elbert_Heather four cameras ( front, rear, right side, left side ) it's like 360° degree vision , but better than 360° vision, you can cover all the sides and the view will be good to see not like the 360° or bird eye or fish eye view.
This unit in my car started having blue lines across the whole screen. Installed 3 months ago. This is my second mirror dash cam. Not impressed. The other one was a Asako brand.
I'm thinking of buying one of these, so any ideas about what caused the blue lines? It's an outside shot, but perhaps the return cables are near to, or on AC powerlines from your alternator, somewhere? These AC magnetic pulses are what causes buzzing on old phone lines which came into contact with old-style house phone lines? And also, did they change the Cam or give you a refund?
Damn 300 bucks, all though I brought AUTO-VOX V5 Mirror Dash Cam And hard wire kit for 175, but just because yours comes with a mount for it, seems hardly worth it
ONE BIG DOWN SIDE IT DOESN'T HAVE "WIFI" WHICH COULD PLAYBACK THE VIDEO ON YOUR CELL-PHONE. WILL NOT BE BUYING BEACUSE OF THIS FACT. OTHER THAN THAT I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT.

There is a tint to darken the image on this mirror. It works fine during the day but using it as a mirror at night will show a darker image.

Microphone is for recording audio on the dashcam video footage. The GPS is for recording speed you are travelling. It's not for navigation.
I see you had a radar detector mirror tap before . Is there a way to connect the radar detector to the new mirror to power the radar detector?

A lot of vibration from the bass might make the front camera video shake a bit, but the system will still be functioning.

With mine, the rear-camera images is reversed left-to right. So things on my left are on the right of the screen. I cant use it like this… anyone know how to change it?

@@Elbert_Heather four cameras ( front, rear, right side, left side ) it's like 360° degree vision , but better than 360° vision, you can cover all the sides and the view will be good to see not like the 360° or bird eye or fish eye view.
This unit in my car started having blue lines across the whole screen. Installed 3 months ago. This is my second mirror dash cam. Not impressed. The other one was a Asako brand.
I'm thinking of buying one of these, so any ideas about what caused the blue lines? It's an outside shot, but perhaps the return cables are near to, or on AC powerlines from your alternator, somewhere? These AC magnetic pulses are what causes buzzing on old phone lines which came into contact with old-style house phone lines? And also, did they change the Cam or give you a refund?

And hard wire kit for 175, but just because yours comes with a mount for it, seems hardly worth it

ONE BIG DOWN SIDE IT DOESN'T HAVE "WIFI" WHICH COULD PLAYBACK THE VIDEO ON YOUR CELL-PHONE. WILL NOT BE BUYING BEACUSE OF THIS FACT. OTHER THAN THAT I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT.
