Tesla is competing with them and beating them, but they are always say that Tesla is not a competitor, so they don't have to do anything to improve in relations to Tesla. For example BMW, officially, BMW says they are not competing with Tesla. VW is.
The fact is, Tesla is the benchmark in most things EV right now and the other competitors don't like it at all. Polstar just did fabricate a efficient test where Model 3 is behind the Polestar 2. It really must hurt them, that they can do nothing to challenge Tesla. B-Day will be the final nail in the coffin for them. Looking forward to it.

Some ICE cars did create a bypss in the testing - not just emissions - but with a special code that would detect the test and turn of functionality completely to improve the range.

This is a very important video. It shows that the silly concept that "Tesla has the best batteries/drivetrains" and "Everyone is 8/12 years behind them" is a very silly concept. On the drivetrain they may have only some % advantage if any. Most of the Tesla cars efficiency is in the other parts of the car IMHO: weight, aerodynamics.
Many people measured Tycan range more than the EPA range. But this video shows a much bigger difference.
Also shows the affect of the wheels.
The one thing I do not understand is why did Porsche let the EPA stay with that low number. They could have made this configuration for the EPA/WLTP testing. That number still matters for many people, even for EV experts.

That case was not about touchscreens alone. Touchscreens are fine to use, but functions that you may adjust while driving must have a known spot. Its not allowed to have them hidden within sub-menus within the infotainmentsystem on a touchscreen. Big difference.

ABS-OFF on the Porsche is allowed, since its always on the same place.

kWh/100 km is a very useful quantity... You can very quickly ascertain in your head how efficient the battery pack is, knowing how many kWh it is when fully charged, and thus how many hundreds of km you are getting... 15 kWh/100 km is excellent, as you say, because one can quickly see that there are six 15s in 90 (6 x 15 kWh = 90 kWh), so you can get close to 600 km of driving if that rate holds up, which is astounding range.

I know I personally wouldn’t ever be able to hit 316 miles in my Model 3, let alone the bigger and heavier and less aerodynamic Model Y. This Taycan on the aero wheels and smaller tires is impressive! If only it wasn’t so ridiculously overpriced. It does give me hope though that future electric VW models will be decent!

As for the advantage of a 800V system compared to a 400V; the power (loss) is the current squared times the resistance. So if you double the voltage to 800V (by putting more battery cells in series) then also the current required to in/output the same given power is only half, but because the internal resistance losses are squared they are 4 times smaller instead of just 2 times. So less heat generated inside the battries and electronics/cables. However it comes with some drawbacks as well (more expensive electronics and increased distance need for insulation)

Yes. This car didn't have autosteer.

FutureNow EV’s and Solar Power in the meantime I had a test drive in my city in a Taycan with innodrive(Porsche autopilot) and have to say it is quite good. Porsche has really killed it. Just waiting for the Lucid Air event this week and the Tesla Battery day to pull the trigger.

No real surprises, here. The Taycan should be extremely efficient on paper, and it's really only the large, performance tires that impact that. Even then, in real-world driving, many Taycan reviewers saw 250+ miles out of a battery charge.

I wouldn't say "extremely efficient". Ioniq and Model 3 are extremely efficient. Taycan and Model S is just "efficient".

@@bjornnyland As executed, sure. Even the 4S you tested could be more efficient with narrower tires all around and completely disabling the rear motor during driving. I guess what I was pointing out is that the Taycan's aerodynamics are actually better than the Tesla Model 3's, so on paper, it should be even more efficient at freeway speeds.

You need to account for all the bugs smashed on the windshield. At least 10 km more without the bugs.

FWD Porsche on 225 skinny tires still not as good as Tesla.. I wonder what Tesla on 225s will be like?

    • @Pixelplanet5
      @Pixelplanet5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

rear tires are 275 Tesla was on 245 front and rear so not really a big difference here, probably even in favor of Tesla.
