First Trailer Job with Homemade Pressure Washing Rig.

  • This was our first job using the trailer I built. After completing the first job without a trailer I decided to put this 4x8 together. No more pulling out wash machine from trunk and no more untangling and pulling heavy dirty hoses. I was nervous to leave it unattended so I often checked on it to make sure we didn't spring any leaks. This customer found us on google and hired us to clean her painted driveway and clean her patio furniture. We decided not to use a surface cleaner instead Softwash the areas. The homeowner was very happy with our service and gave us 5 stars! Can't wait to do it again!

    101st subscriber checking in. I’m a union operating engineer that has hit a pretty big slow period at work and I’m looking at building my own rig to get some business drummed up in Michigan near our summer home. I’m really enjoying watching your new journey

      Hi thank you for viewing it's def a journey and lots of fun. I enjoy the build part especially since I'm not a handyman I'm happy with what I was able to do. I am a full time barber so this is all new to me. Good luck I'm here if you need any help.

    Well done!
    You will learn quickly with that nice setup.
    Just a quick tip...for outdoor furniture, after a proper dwell time and the right mix, the unwanted organics will come off with a low pressure rinse. This will save you from damaging outdoor furniture with the turbo nozzle...it is just not worth the risk using so much pressure.
    Outdoor furniture usually will come clean with a 1% mix and longer dwell time.
    Pretreat concrete with a 3% and let dwell for awhile. I usually apply the solution to concrete first then wash house and I clean concrete last.
    Great job!

    A little tip on backing the trailer, put your hand at the very bottom of the steering wheel, and if you need the trailer to go right move your hand right, same as with going left. I know going opposite throws a lot of people off. The shorter the trailer the quicker it turns.

      @KrakenPressureWashing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes def a mind trick. I also find it easy to look backwards helps my brain steer opposite. I put a wheel on the bottom of trailer jack in case I ever need to unlatch and physically spin trailer around 🤣

      About 5k including used trailer. can be done for less. Each titan hose reel is $400 but I wanted stainless steel plus it looks more professional I think. You can get cheaper 55 gallon drum tanks on FB these were 200 each. You'll spend a lot on hoses and fittings. If I could do it again I would have got a better pressure washer. It's a Simpson 4pm. No belt or gear :(

      @@PoconoWashPros it works well except it dosent have a bypass unloader. I didn't know what that feature was till after I bought. hopefully I can spare you the trouble by letting you know that with this washer, you have to constantly spray water or the pump will overheat whereas with a bypass unloader, you can let off the trigger and Water will bypass through a hose back to the tank.

      What makes you afraid of your pressure washer? I ask because I got a brand new, used one time, 4 gpm pressure washer for $100. I've had units like this one many times and had no issues selling them for $600 each. What's the main advantage of belt drive? I'm thinking the important thing is to have external bypass valve that dumps back into the tank while pressure isn't being used.

    • @KrakenPressureWashing
      @KrakenPressureWashing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@8SecSleeperit's a great machine. I just don't like that it doesn't have a bypass unloader but there is a work around to install one. I purchased one for about $70 haven't installed it yet. $100 you can't go wrong. The day you upgrade this could be your backup

    • @KrakenPressureWashing
      @KrakenPressureWashing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah man that was the original plan but the 12v pump stopped pumping. Brand new pump too. Not sure what happen but I'm sure it was user error it started working again when I git home to inspect. I actually pulled out the pump up sprayer and hit it again with exactly 3% . The high pressure ball valve also snapped on this first use. Maybe I tightened it on too hard? Already replaced it with a DN10. Check out temu they have lots of great pressure washing fittings for less.

      Thanks man. It's an aluminum dunage rack (a shelf commonly used in restaurants) cost me $40 for 4 ft length got 2. Weighs only 6 pounds and can hold 1400 pounds I drilled holes and bolted it to the side of trailer. I have a video on it. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/q3WMpe4w0aQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iFS5PFiIfg5BrVqI

    • @KrakenPressureWashing
      @KrakenPressureWashing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad ya asked. I found an aluminum dunage rack that is commonly used in restaurants. It's basically an aluminum shelf that holds 1400 pounds and only weighs 6lbs I was concerned how the welds would hold up being it's bolted to side rail of trailer but It gets support from the wheel well. I may cut of the legs or attach a custom made sigh to it. $40 for a 4 foot long piece can't go wrong. It's strong, light, rust proof looks cool and cheap. No need to cut wood or weld. Just bolt on.

    Where in the world did you get them hose reels, and how much?

    • @KrakenPressureWashing
      @KrakenPressureWashing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are 12 inch Titan stainless steel. I was going to go with some Walmart hose reels but these really give a professional look and will last a long time . They are sold all over the Internet for about $400 apiece. I would not recommend this to someone just starting out but for me it was a nonnegotiable to have good hose reels.

      I agree if I was doing commercial work store fronts, dumpsters restaurants I probably would want to use hot water but for typical residential work here in Florida. It's not necessary.. the degreaser from Southeast soft wash works very well however it's too expensive. I'm sure you can find something comparable for way less..
