- Where it all began for me! 15 years ago I'd go here after School, then I got my first job here as a skatepark supervisor, Now I'm back with my own business and getting it all cleaned up for reopening, and it was not easy! So rewarding being able to give back to the Youth centre that I went to when I was younger, I hope you enjoy this transformation!

Spaces like these can positively change the trajectory of a kids life. Having a safe place to gather with friends to do what you love is so important. Bravo!
100%. They leveled our skatepark for a parking lot...
Wasn't much later after that I stopped skateboarding.
Want much later after that I started drinking as often as possible and smoking everyday which eventually led to drug use. All before 20 years old.
That pretty much happened to every one of us. Some have never recovered, some have died sadly...
Thankfully I'm clean now, but if that skatepark never closed I'd probably still be skateboarding and wouldn't have lost all those years of my life.
Parents, get involved in city meetings! Prevent any park closures and petition for them to be built if there aren't any.

@@dommyboysmith That's so sad! They finally built one here locally after years and years of fighting to get it done. It's full of kids every day. Teenagers. Little kids learning how to ride bikes and skate. Kids need things to do! I hate how people always want to put in stores and more stores and then complain about kids getting in trouble but vote against all the spaces that are trying to give them somewhere to actually go to do things.
@@vast9467 a lot of my generation don't have any hobbies at all. The reason is because the facilities aren't provided anymore.
The real satisfaction for this job will come in a couple years time when you can drive past here and see the kids out playing on the skatepark. Well done sir, you and your dad are a real benefit to your community

The drone shots were the best way to show the before and after. What an AMAZING transformation to this park!! You’re helping a whole new generation of kids create the awesome memories you made when you used it. You still have skills, Ben! 👍🚲

I understand when you said "I should be happier" Ben, but to be honest, I'd have been thinking "What the h*ll have I got myself into". The thing is, as always, you just battled on and got the job done, with your dad putting in a good shift too. I hope you and the family have a well deserved holiday soon (unless you've already sneaked one in ). Dad too!

@@FlawlessCleaningServices I know flawless is in your name, but sometimes we do need to remember that good enough is good enough. Not so much to stop there, but more once you've got to good enough, everything else is just excelling, the icing on the cake and so on. I know its hard being a bit of a perfectionist myself, but honestly its better to find a way to be happy with good enough (and then somehow you feel able to keep going) than do what I've ended up doing for a lot of time of getting so paralysed from wanting it to be spot on, I didn't even start, let alone try. Didn't work out well and I'm still having to put in a ton of effort to come back from where I ended up. You keep doing great work, so just have to work on trusting you can keep on doing that. And noone else was doing that work. Even if it had taken you a month, its still done. So you already won by caring enough to help out.

They no longer 'care' to fund and what message does that send to our youth !!!! Hopefully this will inspire others to step up and give 'free' , it took 2 days with 2 men working hard ! Imagine what a group of people could accomplish in a week ¿
@@danaholt6261 Exactly, thats what the "Community Service Programme" was established to do, I dont believe for a minute that the courts do not have a plentiful supply of offenders who are suitable for "Community based Sentences", as an alternative to custodial sentences. Bear in mind the "offender" has to agree to undertake unpaid work, maybe the system is so soft that they would rather a custodial sentence, or has the "Modern slavery Act" made it unlawful. Makes one think doesnt it.

I think I heard right when you thought you should be more happy. Might be because you were a bit tired or could be you get a buzz of happiness when you see the people you are directly helping, when you help out an individual. You should be proud of your work ethic. Have a good weekend with your family.

As a kid that grew up without parks like this in KS. I appreciate all the hard work you are doing for the youth in your community. The skatepark is a sanctuary for kids that truly need a place to relax..skate..just hang out with other peers.
Just 2 days to make something beautiful again. If only we all had the balls to get up & do something like this. You a king in my books

The job is humongous so it's natural to feel a bit overwhelmed. Are you able to get a group of volunteers to help you restore it? It seems like a team could tear through that. I do have to say you and your dad have made a phenomenal difference already. You should be proud. I can see your boys tackling this soon.
I hope to get a local team one day, at the moment I work so last minute and constantly switching plans its so hard to organise or pre plan

I am floored by this job, what looked like a lost cause was brought back to life. I cannot put into word's the outcome of this job. Talk about coming in like a boss.
Whoever is in charge of park maintenance should be ashamed of themselves and fired. Thank you for bringing this park back to life for everyone to enjoy.

The skate park has been closed for years due to Tory government funding cuts. Disgraceful.
Each thing you do and learn adds up to being able to help with the next thing you accomplish. I like that you decided to help revive the skate park important to you and your community. An instant example, you now know drains are important and moved to clear the one you ran across. Cleaning up a backlog, including thorny blackberry vines, would not literally be "fun", but reactivating something that will really help people with skills, confidence, sound companionship is a very good goal. Your knowledge of using the park will tell you what is important to work on, that some of the rest of us couldn't necessarily recognize. You and your Dad are again getting a lot done. You are not "passing on" problems for someone else to handle, you diligently worked on the spreading blackberries. Interesting that the words painted on the wall are an official Skatepark name.

You guys are awesome. I love that you not only wash the floors, but you clean the walls too. Taking care of the landscape is not even part of “cleaning”, and you guys do it.
I’ve seen many other videos of people just washing ONLY the floors, or people only mowing lawns and blowing everything all over the place. You guys do so much more.

Tbf it mostly only happens to parks that aren't very good, sometimes because the area is rough or a better park is nearby. Still awesome job though

As a now gran of 8, who worked hard with a small group of people to build a skatepark in our district, I can say how proud of you I am. Many of our towns here in Australia, built parks to give the youth a safe place to ride and skate. Distance prohibits many kids travelling to another park ( think 10 km plus ). I think what you have done is amazing !!

@@von... Thank you. We had a lot of support from local businesses. I tried to build a large half-pipe on our property, but only half the council supported me....hence full onslaught campaigning until we got a park built.
