- Here's how to take in pants with pockets or stripes on the side using beginner sewing skills. If your pants are too big and you want to downsize them, this is a great tutorial no matter whether they are wide leg, bell bottoms, or skinny.

When you came back from the first adjustment, the little flip the waistband was doing and how it was hanging low made a great detail. Maybe that would be a great way to pair a belt with it in the future!

Great video. But how do you tailor dress trousers with side pockets? I bought a suit and the trousers are 1 1/2 sizes too big for my hips

I need to take in a pair of linen pants I just made and it did not occur to me to just make darts rather than take in the seam, thank for you making this!! I love the idea of the darts rather than messing with the actual shape of the pants in my case

I am an “ODD Girl” - pretty much opposite of you, really. 5ft tall, but with long legs, a really short torso, no waist and disproportionately short arms and no shoulders to speak of. Love the tutorial, now I can fix my jumpsuit because I had the same issues with the bottom fit - a long crotch. Do you have a video on how re sew elastic to a waistband?

Stop reading my mind. 😆 This technique can be used for skirts with pockets, but I have the most basic and easy version of taking in a skirt coming in two weeks. 👍🏾

I I have linen blend pants that too big on the butt / hip area because I don’t have one LOL and but they fit on the waist the waistband is covered elastic inside. I’m built pretty much straight so I have a lot of problems with pants that are curvy how do I take in just that area? Can I just do the crotch area? Also I bought them in tall does tall run big or in that area?

Your title read "...with pockets..." so where were they? That's the help I meed because the pants I have have side pockets.
You would take in pants that have side pockets the same way that I took in these. I should have said “side” pockets.

You did it! This with the darting totally helps with the working around fitting when there are pockets. This might be above my grade level. TeeHee! But my question is would it just been easier to remove the pockets, and just sew straight down? If so, can you do a video with this in mind? Because this did still seem to me to be at a difficult level. So the crotch is just basically sewing just higher up into the crotch area. Would it work if I found that area by trying it on. This one included several techniques darting, placing waistband, and fixing a sagging crotch. These came out really nice and they are fitting to the point you eligible to run for a baby got back candidate. I like how you styled it, you really looked cute, but I am not recognizing the top. This was specifically for if you wanted to save the pockets just because I’ve done a tutorial on taking in the side seam several times before. It was awhile ago, so maybe I should update it.
@@BlueprintDIY I mean could we just reinstall the pockets after it taken in on the outside seam? You did the tutorial on adding pocket, could that be used here also with moving pockets. Just wonder if that would be easier for those of us not as skilled? Save video for reattaching waistband and crotch alterations.

😆 Yes, I may have overstated a bit. But this is the easiest way to keep your pockets in tact without having to totally take the pants apart.
This doesn't have pockets or did I miss something????
She mentioned that it also can refer to if you have something in the side like her white line that keeps you from just being able to take the pants in form the sides
