I really like that there were so many different views of the mountains scenes in this video. While you were coming in to town, in the evening, morning and while you were driving out. So cool to see all aspects for the mountain scenery all around you.
When I was young (and foolish) I used to ride my Honda "Super Hawk" motorcycle up to this area from San Diego and spend a few days (those days few people used a tent - we "cowboy camped"). It was like heaven. (LOVE your stuff - especially the cinematography and narration)
Sounds awesome I (carrie) am too afraid to cowboy camp..... mainly I do not want any creepy crawlers in my sleeping bag with me....My worst fear is snakes
My "must stop" place in Bishop is Schat's Dutch Bakery. Now I'll have to add Mahogany Smoked Meats to my list. US 395 is probably my favorite driving route anywhere.
That mountain range leaves you breathless - how incredibly beautiful! You wouldn't know where to look first. Can you share what kind of freezer you have in your van now? That sounds like a great for keeping some extra grub. Hope you're all well and enjoying your visit home with family. Safe travels always!
Hi Dave, Carrie, & Roodle ~ watching in April and good to see the High Sierras with snow this year. My Dad used to take us on interesting Desert Prospecting Hikes back in the 60’s and we’d stop in to play Mini Golf at a delightful hillside course in Lone Pine. Fond memories 😃
The Eastern Sierras is one of my favorite places. I have spend many a summer vacation with my family all up and down 395. I haven't been there when there was that much snow. What was the name of that $5 night campground near Bishop?
Another beautiful video! The Eastern Sierras really are gorgeous, especially when they are still covered in snow. It's fun to see Roodle enjoying himself so much running to Mom and Dad! Thanks for the awesome scenery and sharing your talents Carrie and Dave!
Yes they are! We’ve always played this game with him since he was a puppy. This way he is always with one of us and if he doesn’t pay attention to where we are….. we hide from him! This makes him really stay close and keep an eye on us😃
I LOVE 395! I've only taken it once, and I realized right away that it would take many trips and a LOT of time exploring to really get a true appreciation! What a fantastic area to call home! And I'm very biased about my corner of California! 😅 I loved the Roodle part! He's gotten pretty used to his boots! That's awesome!
Totally agree! We need to come back to this area in the summertime to explore more! Roodle is such a good boy, pretty easy going and would probably let me dress him in anything!
Mahogany Meats used to be priced reasonable... it's crazy high now. Haven't gone in there for years, but it used to be a "Must stop" each fishing trip... Most spots up there are way over-priced now. There are still some deals in town if you know the spots.
I ❤ this video! Roodle was a total ham, the Sierra were magnificent, you two really allowed your personality to come out & be playful. You've become so comfortable in front of the camera since you first started sharing your adVANture 😊 Thank you for all the time editing, Carrie. And Dave, for honing your culinary skills and drone foorage. Blessings friends 🙏
Love the HWY 395 ride...Except for once when we got caught in white out conditions in the RV coming back from Indiana....We were coming down Hwy 80 and Donnor Summit was closed down so we thought we would go down south from there and come up to the Bay Area from Southern Calif. instead....Will never make that mistake again...Lesson learned the hardest way...We spent a day and a half on the side of the road near a chain installation area not to far from Bishop....I do love the area though especially the Mammoth Lakes and June Lake areas....Also the Alabama hills....
The 395 is a magical place. Bishop is a great town to get amenities. I always stop at schats bakery when I’m in town. Keough hot springs is fun either as a day to soak in the large hot springs pool or swim in the even larger pool. Pool visit includes shower and the serve ice cream. Campground has pay showers. But there are places in town the has paid showers. Lone pine is another great town day stop. And the town of independence tho Uber small has a gas station with showers for travelers. So much public land to camp on out there. Lots of rivers and lakes. So much history as well. Thanks for posting
Hi guys I just came across your channel this evening. Very nice work all the way around. Nice drone work . Very good on the editing and good music selections. And you have good eyes for nature. And I love your dog. have you been to June Lake?
We think we want to get a portable freezer like that. We think we will cook and freeze the food at campgrounds or somewhere we can get water and dump, just to prep meals. With that we can have weeks of meals ready to heat and eat. I think it’s a good idea. Roodle won’t take no for an answer 😂. Yeah it looks steep, I would put mine in low range and climb up to that camp spot. I would back down, I’ve pulled equipment into many places with no turn arounds 😂. Kinda don’t have a choice 🤷🏼♂️ great location to camp 👍🏼
Pre-meal prep is such Good idea! Especially when you are at a campground with plenty of water for preparation and clean up! I shall mention This to Dave!
Looks like a nice place. Now if I could just convince my wife we don't need electricity and all of the other amenities for a week. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Your willingness to travel long distances down rough roads is impressive! Does the van have any suspension upgrades, other than sumo springs? And do you often air down - for instance on the 12 mile drive in this video? And kudos to Carrie for all of the tedious editing.
Got some ice cream in that freezer? 🍦😋 It's so obvious how Roodle loves snow when he runs down road on the snowy parts rather than the dirt 😄. Take care and safe travels!! 🥰🌿♥️
Hi Carrie and Dave, would you give us the specs on your freezer…12v? How much it draws on your batteries…I would love a freezer! Game changer for sure!
You said you were 40 miles north??? of Bishop? I saw a curved ridge that comes down the mountain that is very similar to one south of Bridgeport as you approach Conway Summit the descended into Lee Vining. It confused me for awhile. Is that where you were camping? Somewhere near Conway? I love the 395 eastern Sierra Nevada. So many great road trips. This video brought back tons of memories.
Hi Dave and Carrie. Just an FYI, the video says it went live 4 hours ago. I look for your videos every Saturday morning. I went to your main channel to see the latest upload and nothing new was there. Hence you only have 2 views in 4 hours. I don't know if there are issues with the algorithm, but it seems like sluggish traffic on your video compared to the usual Saturday morning traffic I see. I hope all is well. Have safe travels and a blessed day.
It was all OK here this morning. Great video and the eastern side of the Sierra Mountains is always beautiful. I usually stop at Manzanar and imagine how that place was when the Japanese Americans were confined there. Sad injustice but best not forgotten. Enjoy your family visit my friends and pet Roodle for us.
Yay! We can view it now. Also, on mine, it said the video was private as well. I eagerly await your uploads each Sat to see where Carrie, Dave, and Roodle are taking us. ❤❤❤😊
I love the 395. Home. Feels good. Thank You for sharing. I need to get over there
Absolutely beautiful, stunning landscape!!
It really is!

So glad I'm sharing your videos on there and so glad that I'm seeing some people that are your sponsors on there as well I'll keep sharing
Adorable Roodle !
Great video! Scenery was off the charts!
Yes it was!
What an amazing spot! 😍🤩
As always, great video with all the views.looking forward 2 the next calendar
Yes! Should be a good one!
So beautiful ❤❤❤❤ thank you
Oh wow! What a beautiful area!!!!

That is a beautiful and amazing area. I think i could hang out for weeks there and just recharge the batteries....Happy Trails 🐕🐕
Us too!
Beautiful mountains, probably the thing I miss most on the east coast. That and fresh citrus in my backyard!!
Loved the music set to the sunrise segment on this video. Great job of story telling, photography, and editing. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! I am very much enjoying my sunrise challenge
You snickering at Dave's silliness cracks me up
Sometimes he just comes up with some good ones!
Ah, my fav part California!! Been fishing and camping there for over 50 years! Great video of it. Safe travels. :)
Such a great area! We really need to come back to take our time and really explore it.
My "must stop" place in Bishop is Schat's Dutch Bakery. Now I'll have to add Mahogany Smoked Meats to my list.
US 395 is probably my favorite driving route anywhere.
Oh we were going to go there but we were trying to behave!
@@oneadVANtureatatime Where's the fun in that?!?!
My favorite part of living in the Reno/Tahoe area is how easy it is to travel to so many cool places in little weekend jaunts!
You definitely have a lot to explore!

If I recall the brand name is alpicool. I will try to get more info about it in our next video.

What a fantastic memory! We have friends in the area now and the sierras are still getting snow! SO BEAUTIFUL!
My golden/aussie sits in my lap too… Roodle gave me a laugh when he sat in yours!😁
He doesn’t do very often but when he does you know he is one happy boy!
We are at Tuttle Creek now!

Roodle is sure loving his wild life of sniffy patrol in all the places you guys explore :)
See you in Alaska. We head up the end of May.
Us too….. we are hoping to cross the border may 20th.

Well it was pretty pricey for the jerkey for sure! But it was good🤷♀️
@@oneadVANtureatatime Next time through, go to Manor Market. Get their hot meals they have made... super good and cheap.
395 is one of the best place to go for camping ang hiking. Nice video and thank you for sharing your journey. More power to your channel.
Thanks for visiting
Thank you for showing me another place I HAVE to visit. Sending love and best wishes ❌⭕, Iris and Little One 👋🐾

We almost got caught in a blizzard in the same area in 2019! That area is not to be taken lightly for it’s winter weather!
❤

We almost stopped at Keough hot springs. I didn’t know they served ice cream…. Dave would have made a deter for sure.
The gelato at schats bakery in bishop is even better. Just an fyi for next time.

What kind of booties does Toodle wear. Our dog will need some for our trip out west that is Coming up.
