The late Dennis Avery, land owner of the Galleta Meadows Estates in Borrego Springs envisioned the idea of adding free standing art to his property with the original steel-welded sculptures created by commissioned artist, Ricardo Braceda. There are 130 sculptures in the area…. So many that it’s hard to see them all and you will need a map from the visitor center!
Whoever created those sculptures is a fabulously amazing artist!! Carrie, the sunrise captures are gorgeous, as usual 😁. I sure hope you guys do get to see the desert bloom, and so we can too. Glad Dave got his pie and ice cream 😋!! Always fun to see you two really enjoying a special treat. And keep those wild edible segments coming. 👍 Take care guys. See you next time. 🥰🌿♥️
Another grand video showcasing the incredible talents you both possess. Thank you Dave for supporting Carries' interests while filming yours. Win win for us all. Thank you and may God bless ❌⭕, Iris & Little One 👋🐾
Team dave That’s just clutter. We did enjoy that desert walk with the creosote bush and ocotillo. Very interesting, and actually my wife and I also think the Jeep is the best sculpture as well. Go team dave….👍
So fun to meet you guys at Anza-Barrego! We are the neighbors who told you there was ice cream in town. We just signed up on Patreon. Hope to see you again at a meetup.
I'm team in between. I can appreciate it because it's there. But I wouldn't put it there if it wasn't already there. The serpent is amazing. The jeep would be my 2nd favorite. Amazing pictures Carrie 👍👍👍
Glad to see you're checking out Anza Borrego. Thanks to Carrie for those closeups of the Rusty Dinos. We lived in San Diego for many years so Anza was the first and closest State Park for us. Even spent one day of our honeymoon there. March is the best month .Don't even get close to those Cholla (choya) cacti the spikes can go right through the sole of your tennis shoes. Fantastic photography !!!!
Stark and beautiful - the sculptures are just amazing (scorpion is my fav) and that last part of the video showing the wildflowers blooming and the canyon are an amazing tease for next week. Thanks for sharing. Stay well and safe travels!
I love natural beauty, and that is God's art. I also enjoy man's art. Those sculptures are manifest. Like I enjoy ur pictures. I'm not that talented, so looking at others who are makes me so happy.
Ricardo Breceda has a gallery nearby in Aguanga. You should stop by there and meet him. He's a great guy, and he appreciates the attention he gets on social media.
Carrie, you could publish a book after your sunrise challenge.. it could be like “365 days of sunrises across America” I think it would be interesting to see the differences and changes
So cool! Those sculptures are perfect in the desert. They don't disrupt the natural environment and they look fantastic. The artist is very talented. Your photos are great as usual Carrie! I'm looking forward to seeing one of these in your calendar next year and I'm really enjoying my 2024 calendar. It looks like you were able to see a lot of blooms even early in the bloom. Yay!! I'm happy for you. And, yes, I knew the Jeep sculpture would be Dave's favorite before he even said it.
Wouldn't you know Dave's favorite sculpture is the most unnatural one! Great photos as usual. So beautiful! I wonder how the coyotes tolerate the cacti.
Loved the images in this video. Carrie, you have such a great eye for composition, exposure, texture, and story telling. I’ve lived most of my 70++ years within 60 miles of Borego Springs and been there many time for the super bloom, to hike, and to golf. You two are captureing this area very well. This is in no way a criticism, and I admit I’ve mispronounced names more times that I can recall. But, the pronunciation for Cholla is “CHOY” - “YA” [like the pond fish COY, except with an H after the C] - [YA, like how ya doing]. Dave we love looking and smelling the spring time blooming mesquite…and were blown away with the story behind the defensive rings. For what is worth, if you find yourselves wanting to use local wood for a campfire, avoid burning both dead cholla and Palo Verde (another beautiful desert tree). These give off toxic fumes when burning. One last tip, if you end up with a Cholla Ball stuck to you guys or Roodle, use your basic mens comb to remove the cactus. Just run the teeth up beneath the cholla and above your skin and lift up. Safe travels.
Thanks for the video. I was there in Feb 2022. I made a video about it also in my Desert 2022 trip play list. I just found your channel and subscribed.
hey guys.. i was noticing i hadn't seen one of your videos in a while and sought out why.... turns out youtube unsubbed me... so now time to play catch up!! Looks like you all have been having so many great adventures!!! SAFE TRAVELS!!
Cinematography skills are amazing. Felt like I was in Jurassic Park. Sometime I hope someone shows us how you film these things. Must be tons of editing combining of filming clips. Thanks for continued excellent work
#teamdave on the natural beauty, but they do make epic photo ops (nice work!). That is a huge, beautiful park though. Love your sunrise goal, Carrie. And the cacti lesson, Dave. Hope you guys are enjoying being "home" for a bit.
:) WOW! THANKS MUCH for sharing! The Serpent head reminded me of a DRAGON! :) It is the year of for my Grandson! ALL the BEST and WONDERFUL Video and shots indeed! Cheers ! :)
Another amazing post! At 5:28 not sure what shrub or tree those are? -- you answered it later in the post and its Ocotillo! SO many neat plants and cactus! And great shot of the sunset rays of pink behind the dino. Regarding getting up with the sun, the Shinto said how vitally important that is. The horse sculptures are amazing and the rose-colored light in the sunrise is wonderful + the ring around the sun! Wow! the later shots of the dinos and the sunrise are great but dinos just aren't my thing, lol... And the serpent is on of the most amazing sculptures I've ever seen. Wonder who paid for all those sculptures? It's a relief to see that they don't have graffiti all over them. Best, from Colorado!
Normally I would agree with Team Dave. Natural views. But those Dinosaurs are pretty cool, so this time, Team Carrie! Actually, I think you both win at that state park!
My backyard! ❤love it ❤ Lots of free spots Im in joshua tree area now lol Lots of free camping up here also! Have you been to aguas Caliente hot springs ? Its in anza borego near airport 😊 Enjoy!!!
Team Carrie! Haven’t watched complete video yet but sure will. Going to check how far from there I currently am. On my way to check out Alabama Hills. Gosh, love your informational videos.
We were just at Alabama hills! Make sure you stop to check out the information sign on where camping is available because they made it very confusing. You have to drive past no camping signs to get to the designated campsites
Walnut trees do a similar thing except that grass will grow. Other trees however generally don't grow under the drip line of a walnut tree. A couple of decades ago I planted some Norway Spruce trees under a Black Walnut tree and inside of 5 years all of the trees under the drip line of the Walnut tree were dead. Ice cream, fudge and pie, does it get any better? I didn't think so. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
What cool desert art. The serpent was wild. Just kinda went along forever it seems. Let me add this park to the list 😂 I checked the web page but didn’t see anything about free camping 🤷🏼♂️

Horse sculpture in the morning sunrise my absolute favorite!
My Boston Terrier was transfixed with metal sculptures. Gorgeous.
Such a thoughtful show.
My Boston thought sculptures were real too.

I enjoyed Dave talking about the cactus…thanks
Team Carrie! I appreciate the art perspective but I really think its a cool way to imagine the species in its natural habitat! Thanks for sharing!
Fun and creative. Dave and his Jeep love…. ✌️❤️🚐
There should be a super bloom of wild flowers there sometime soon, you’re right in the area to see it.
I'm team in between. I can appreciate it because it's there. But I wouldn't put it there if it wasn't already there. The serpent is amazing. The jeep would be my 2nd favorite. Amazing pictures Carrie 👍👍👍

What a neat place! Thank you for showing us this area!
Fun video. What a great place.
Sorry Dave, I agree with Carrie. It’s nice to see man made art in sync with nature.
Excellent!!!

Loved this video and the sculptures. Anza-Borrego is on my bucket list. Your sunrise and sunset photos are amazing!
+@debbieblock7248 it’s a really cool state park! Next week we check out some of the natural beauty!
Wouldn't you know Dave's favorite sculpture is the most unnatural one!
Great photos as usual. So beautiful!
I wonder how the coyotes tolerate the cacti.
Ha…. That is funny! I wondered the same thing about the coyotes because those cholla catcus were everywhere!
Uk watching as ever, loving the visual sunset...
Amazing dinosaurs 🦕 ❤
Nice park up to relax and enjoy 😉
Keep up the great work 👍

You both have amazed me. I plan to take a small road trip this summer. I believe I'll be going either Oregon or Washington. Any tips?
