Oh those desert winds. Awesome job capturing it. Felt like we were back out there in the van. So awesome all the mining relics still there and not destroyed/stolen by visitors. Mining out in the desert like that had to be so grueling. Really admirable. Great vid, guys! Glad you could safely go inside.
Just love this whole area. You came across one of the infamous adopt-a-cabins. Where a group of volunteers restore and maintain old miners cabins. They’re great to explore and as you say, they can save your life. Sorry that you weren’t able to kayak Carrie. That wind storm looked nasty.
Too bad you missed the lake, hopefully next time. I'm absolutely amazed that no one has vandalized that cabin, maybe it's too far out of the way. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
AWESOME!! You guys are simply blessed with often being in the right places at the right time. So sorry about the lake tho. Dave, you are braver than I am. You wouldn't get me in a mine shaft 😄. And I don't like heights either!! Loved the cabin. That is SO cool. Happy and safe travels!! 🥰🌿♥️
Like you, Dave, I love exploring the mines, and like you, Carrie, I love paddling in stunning spots. I was literally out paddling on Manly the evening of March 4 when they shut it down. I'm going to call it a case of beurocratic delay... the water that blew north with the storm seemed to mostly come back after, but they'd already made the decision. I carried my kayak about 150 yards from the road, and was in and paddling about 20' from the shore, and had from 1-2.5' of water after I made it out more than 50 yards. I'm really sorry it didn't work out for you, and hope you get another crack at it.
What an adventure! You never know what you will find out in Death Valley. I'm so so sorry you missed your paddleboard opportunity Carrie, but that rainbow was truly rare and amazing! My Dad spent days and days over many years exploring and researching Death Valley with an older friend who was a historical expert. Dad wrote and published a book about one of the first parties to cross Death Valley and the route they took. You would have loved exploring with them Dave!
Sorry you couldn't kayak the lake Carrie, but wow, you both outdid yourselves on this spectacular video! Beautiful photos, interesting details, the cabin, the mines, the endless rainbow! The photography was amazing! Well done and thank you so much for sharing. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! We try to obey the rules but sometimes they make it so hard! We applied for a permit at Alabama hills almost 4 weeks ago and still haven’t heard back from them.
@@oneadVANtureatatime some of them take 2 to 3 months to respond, I'm told. Grand Canyon says they need at least 2 weeks. I may try applying for that one before I go in May.
I didn’t know that was called Lake Manley. I was there in late February, but I didn’t have a kayak. It was weird to see Badwater basin full of water. It looked like the entire floor of Death Valley was a lake.
Oh Carrie, I’m so sorry you didn’t get to do the kayaking. You handled it very professionally, but I’m sure you were so disappointed. Really enjoyed meeting you this year at quartzite y’all take care.
Loved your video. We were at Death Valley the middle of February and the boardwalk at Badwater Basin was under water. It was so cool to see Lake Manly. Sorry you didn't get to paddleboard. It's fun to watch videos from others of places where we've recently been. Keep up the good work!
What a great (unplanned) adventure! It was very interesting to see inside the mine , glad it was you Dave and not me in there. Carrie, sad for you that you couldn’t get out on the water. Looking forward to your next video! 🇨🇦
Oh Carrie, I’m so sorry you missed the opportunity to kayak the lake. At least Dave got to explore those shafts. I was literally laughing as you said you were tempted to try. Why not go for it!? 😂 I would have.
When I saw your tease I thought you might have had more luck than I did. I passed through DV the end of January but didn't have my kayak with me. I kept being delayed being able to return and finally made it back 3/5/24. They had closed Lake Manley on 3/4. Maybe next year. Still lots of other interesting things there. There is dispersed camping inside the park, mostly pretty far away from Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells mostly on sandy roads. About 8 miles SE of Furnace Creek off Dante's Point Rd is Greenwater Valley (Furnace Creek Wash) Road. You need to get a free permit for it at the visitor center but it is nice and close.
I was just watched and enjoyed your last video on Death Valley National Park. I saw how much you both enjoyed the mines in that area. I hope that you are still in that area because there is a mining town north west of where you were called Cerro Gordo Ghost Town owned by Brent Underwood. He purchased the mining town four years ago and is actively restoring it. You can visit the town but there is a eight mile rough road up to the town. He also just wrote a fascinating book “Ghost Town Living” check it out you guys will just live him and the towns history! Let me know your thoughts…🤩
The mines are cool. You’re not too deep, should be ok 😂. That is cool though. I wonder if I could get back that far, except for that last hill. I do want a front locker still. May have to work on that 🤔 I sure hope I can get to places like that, they look great to camp at for a couple nights 👍🏼 Sorry you didn’t get to Kayak that 😢. Hopefully another time. It’s ridiculous how someone with a GoPro or IPhone can’t video in our own land because they get a few bucks for it. Sooooo much government overreach 😠
I believe that building is what is known as a Volunteer Cabin (other content creators such as Wonder Hussey often). They're basically abandoned mining cabins in vacation homes in remote areas seemingly mostly in California and Nevada that can be temporarily occupied on a First Come, First Serve basis if you hoist up a flag declaring occupancy. Detroit you have TH-camrs broadcast locations of these cabins to avoid vandalism squatters in the like.
The ruling around filming in the parks is asinine. Stills are OK, but filming is not. How many stills per second can I take before it becomes filming? I believe the court said it wasn't protected as free speech because there is a delay between filming and viewing. Most live radio and TV broadcasts use a 7 second delay so they aren't "live" either. Hopefully the SCOTUS takes the case and overturns the ruling.
What is your favorite weather app? 20+ miles of rainbow scenery is pretty sweet! I'm currently reading Timothy Egan's book "The Worst Hard Time" about the Dust Bowl of the '30s. Imagine the wind you experienced non stop for 30 days with limited visibility. And then for 3-4 years.
Oh man….30 days just sounds miserable! We’ve tried several weather apps and keep coming back to the weather channel 🤷♀️ do you have a favorite we could try out?
Hello, I very much enjoy your videos. I've been going back and watching what you filmed in WA state as that is where home is. I'm taking delivery of my new camper van in two weeks! In some of your videos I see that you have a rug/tarp/groundcloth right outside the door of the van. I was wondering what you are using. I've had little luck searching for something that is robust and yet van "packable" (i.e. packs small and lightweight). What do you use? Any suggestions? Thanks!
THANK YOU FOR CHECKING OIT OUR CHANNEL! We have had this woven mat since 2019…. It has really held up well and does pack up small. The one we have is 4X6 and just big enough for the door. If I buy another I would buy the 5X8 size. I wanted to add it is reversible and woven recycled plastic so it does not absorb water. amzn.to/3vV1S68
If you are still looking for a place to winter in Alaska. I just heard about something called the caretakers gazette which might have listings for Alaska.
A response from NPS to a youtuber who apply for a permit at several parks, a lot of nothing, granted this was in of spring '23, so for the price of a stamp and filling out the form correctly you can get an answer. Dear __________, We have received your application for a Special Use Permit for Commercial Filming/Still Photography at _________ National Park. Based upon the description of the activities provided in your permit application, it does not appear that they would constitute commercial filming under federal law. As a result, you are not required to obtain a special use permit for commercial filming or pay associated fees. You are responsible for securing any necessary permissions or releases if you will be filming other people in the park. In addition, all filmers must comply with regulations that apply in the park, just like other visitors. Thank you for your interest in visiting _________ National Park. We hope you enjoy your time in the park.
I have no intentions of building another van, but if I do, it will definitely be 4x4. Hopefully, next year some common sense will return to the government on filming in the parks. As always a thumbs up 👍👍👍
I really hope they change the rules! We applied for a permit to Alabama hills 4 weeks ago and still haven’t heard anything. I guess that means it was denied🤷♀️
That rainbow got me all teary-eyed, so beautiful!
It was incredible! At one point we had to pull over! I cannot believe we watched it for 26 miles!!!
You can feel how Dave lights up discovering, historical, checking out caves - not so much metal sculptures.
Yeah, he doesn’t sugar coat his feelings….does he!😂
Productions continue to get exponentially better. Thank you for your dedication to quality!
Much appreciated!

There should have been a US flag to hang out when you are staying there. Don't give away place so it is not vandalized.
You have the coolest adventures. Thanks for sharing.
Too bad you missed the lake, hopefully next time. I'm absolutely amazed that no one has vandalized that cabin, maybe it's too far out of the way. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
This cabin is way out of the way! And 4x4 is needed to get there!
AWESOME!! You guys are simply blessed with often being in the right places at the right time. So sorry about the lake tho.

That was the perfect solution to the permit issue. The photographs are stunning. You didn't need any video to show us how beautiful the park is.

Thank you! I was so bummed! But I didn’t want to leave footprints in the drying lakebed!
We were there the day before they ended boating. That wind storm was crazy!
I hope you 3 are having a great adventure

Thanks for that mine exploration Dave. That was cool. Again…nice video you two .
Glad you enjoyed it
Spent over 2 weeks in Death Valley last month. Great place, no cell signal. Lots of free camping in and around the park.
We just recently learned of the free camping. We almost camped but headed to bishop instead.
Awesome cave stuff, dave…. Thanks
Oh Carrie, I’m so sorry you missed the opportunity to kayak the lake. At least Dave got to explore those shafts. I was literally laughing as you said you were tempted to try. Why not go for it!? 😂 I would have.
What a great adVANture! I'm sorry you missed your kayaking opportunity, Carrie. Gorgeous photos, though--as usual. 👍
Thank you!

I love Death Valley. Sorry you missed the the chance to paddle board the lake. Still, you saw it and that is amazing

Trona! Woo! Great vid as always.
Minietta mine has been on our list to check out. I'm sorry you didn't get to kayak in Death Valley, but the photos were incredible!
We happened upon the cabin completely by accident…. It was very cool!

Thank you for your great videos!Hooray freezer! I just bought no spill ice trays. I love ice in my new favorite olipop cola. Best wishes!
Dang it! That would be amazing! But, it was still a great area!

Land of the free...
Warmer than our current spot in Calgory while the truck gets some upgrades.
What are the more popular mine explorer channels is Abandoned And Forgotten Places with Gly Coolness.
Rainbows seem to follow you everywhere. 🌈
You should go visit Cerro Gordo! You are close🤗😁

Love your videos but I’m having g a hard time adjusting to Dave’s glasses 😬
Lol…. Don’t worry he will forget about them soon!
Are you airing down ? And what is your psi on this road?
We did not air down. We have the capability to with an air compressor on board but this road wasn’t that bad.
What is in the doggie ice cream?
This particular one had pumpkin. I was thinking I should make my own…. It’s stupid expensive!
