I’m at 8400lbs in my Promaster and know exactly what your talking about with the steep hills and loose gravel. Great idea to walk up and radio down that the coast is clear to go for it! Love your journey and I always check your videos when I’m traveling through an area to find the best spots!
"Cat", here, Guys! Although we don't have a front wheel drive van, we have been told by people who do have them that the old fashioned narly snow chains do work well on hills like the one you experienced here!
Thank you for the tip, Cat! We do carry those old fashion tire chains with us. I will make a mental note for future encounters.👍😀😀😀 Carrie says we will try it out and make a short video on how it works. Thank you!
The first time I was there was 1969. There were a few dirt areas to camp and it was stocked by a fly fishing club. The last time I was there was 2005 and I was driving a Ford Ranger with a 4cyl motor carrying a cabover camper with a utility trailer. I got stopped at the cattle crossing and had to take the long way in. It's much farther and steep. Not as bad as the first section you did. It takes you way up on the mountain and drops down to the campground. There was a nice trail towards the end of the lake that would take you to Bowers Lake and beyond with a right turn that would take you to the top of the ridge to the east. The view from there can look both ways north and south following the valley. The fish can be spectacular in there.

That road....You guys are brave. We encountered a road that I just could not continue on. We took the Dog out and I made a 7 or 8 point turn around. There was no room for 2 vehicles. The drop off edge was so steep, it ruined me for those kinds of roads now. After we came down, we looked at it from below and from the highway. It is on Copper Creek road past the falls. Hwy 95 North of Bonners Ferry. It forks and the road goes up the side of a big mountain. Its almost Canada like where you were but East a bit.

+Madison we don’t use the tent very often. We have it to save our spot at really popular free campgrounds…. Check out Saturdays video. It’s an old backpacking tent that is falling apart so now it is our dogs tent. He gets his bone treats in the tent when outside as he hates flies and bees! He tends to get stung…. So treat inside tent equals no bee stings. When we decide to go backpacking again we will need a new tent 1) it’s falling apart 2) it smells of a nice juicy bone ….

@@oneadVANtureatatime my Van weight is like 6100 lbs. should possibly work. Thank for the answer. You guys have a great life!!! Nice.
Tent? Someone help me out with info, on how they utilize the tent.
Can u get in that water paddle board
Will bears be a problem?
We didnt see any bear or any bear evidence but I would say always be bear aware.
Dave,u are required to have a pfd on you sup. State gestapo will write a ticket for that😢
Thank you for the tip! We don't need a ticket for sure👍
Dave can ask for Veteran's Discount, and show his Military ID, VA ID, or DD214 in all BLM, DNR, State and National Parks. I envy you guys, living my life without me. But i'm going to catch up to you summer of 23...
That sounds good Sam! 2023 is coming fast. 👍😀😀
Did you come here out of recommendation or how did you find it?
Hi Sandra. This is one of the campgrounds listed on our Washington DNR map. We just read the description and thought it sounded like the kind of camping we like. 👍😀
@@oneadVANtureatatime Thank you, you do an excellent job at finding places! It’s always fun to see what you’ll find next.
What a beautiful spot. You the are living the life. So peaceful, need that in this crazy world. Thank you
It really is! I think this video is very low key....some might say boring! This location was so peaceful and relaxing!

The road looks challenging, I always like a little adventure.
It looks like a great place to spend a weeks time exploring.
I agree with Dave the call of a Loon is a beautiful haunting call.
I haven't heard one since 1971😭.
I am definitely getting a paddle board.
👍
Now that we have a seat I am really enjoying the paddle board! Now I want to fish more😂 We hope you have a loon encounter again soon, the sound of its call instantly improves my morale. 😀😀
