BYG has one just like it though. The Ashen Inferno of the nether was like the Soul Sand wasteland before that was a thing, though it had one interesting thing that makes it worth mentioning, the blue fire didn't burn you, it had this unique effect that made you thrash about uncontrollably for a bit. The nether used to have these giant hive structures full of honey you could swim in, and if you broke inside you had to fight giant wasps. The Flower Island was a rare biome filled with giant flowers instead of trees. The grass texture even had little white flowers on it. The BOP mod is still good and the new additions like the Fungal Jungle and Glowing mushroom caves look amazing and show that the author still has that lovely creative spark. But they also got rid of some of their more interesting biomes for nebulous, arbitrary, reasons and stripped away every unique mechanic or mob that dared to crop up. The biomes feel empty. Biomes O'Plenty has been with us since like 1.4.7, I most definitely remember playing the old Feed The Beast packs with BOP installed. And the trees in the Cherry Blossom Grove and Lavender Forest got a massive overhaul in 1.20+ thanks to the Cherry Blossom leaves from vanilla.
Seeing as how I've noticed nobody brought up The Promised Land as their favorite BOP dimension/biome, so I guess I can share my bit of two cents here. I can remember during a solo playthrough of FTB Infinity Evolved I had found some remnants of Biome O Plenty's "The Promised Land" which was a "post-endgame" dimension that featured multiple unique biomes. The reason I said "remnants" was because the modpack I was playing was only available for 1.7.10, and The Promised Land was removed sometime during the mod's transition between 1.6.2 & 1.7.10. All of the content relating to the dimension still existed however, but was mostly unobtainable. After finding this out, I found & downloaded the older version of BOP that still had the Promised Land fully intact. With all of that being said, I can remember that despite the horrendous lag spikes with the terrain generation & constant FPS drops due to excessive amount of Pixies spawning, it definitely had some of the prettier looking set of biomes (along with a gorgeous dimension) that I wish would see some sort of comeback, even if it was an unofficial add-on made by the modding community. On a side note, I can remember going out to the co-ordinates of where The Far Lands normally start to generate within the Promised Land. Somehow they were able to generate despite The Far Lands getting removed back in Beta 1.8. Also, my game & framerate was MUCH more stable there. It's truly my #1 favorite location from Biomes O Plenty... even if it is gone.
I've noticed a change in the algorithm that recommends videos to me, and now videos with little views have been appearing on my feed. Sometimes they're just random Minecraft playthroughs with as little as 5 views made by some 9-year-old, and sometimes it's videos like *this* that would have genuinely piqued my interest but would've gone completely undiscovered if it weren't for this weird little algorithm change! I'm usually not one to make comments on videos, but I just wanted to say I absolutely love this video! I'm astonished that you only have 4k subscribers as of me writing this. Everything about the video down to the humor, editing, and even the little art of your guy talking is really charming! The production quality is absolutely amazing. I love these types of videos, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more biome-focused mod reviews if you ever plan on making more. I'm just really glad TH-cam brought me here. Please keep up the amazing work! 💛
Thank you so much!! I put a ton of work into these, and I mega-appreciate the acknowledgement! 🥺 I definitely want to do more biome videos in the future, though the next couple won't be that - Still, I hope you'll stick around to see what I do! Thanks a ton for the kind comment
@@InfernalStudiosMC Oh wow, hey! TH-cam screwed me over by not even notifying me when you replied. I viewed some of your other videos, and I'm glad I can say I'm a huge fan of your other content as well! I'll definitely be sticking around for *all* of your future work, please keep it up!
The coniferous forest is by far my absolute favorite one, especially with a shader and swimming through a river. Those trees are so gigantic and majestic while the sun shines down through the leaves, it's one of the most magical moments I have in each world.
I notice the people with the most eh buildings build their base in stunningly beautiful biomes but people with really good building skills settle in the drab biomes with dead bushes
I really like the look of the Bog because it reminds me of the Australian outback (I'm definitely not biased) To me it feels like a more realistic place that I could actually see in real life (because I can)
I feel like current Minecraft's terrain generation doesn't really mesh well with most of these biomes. Feel like things are too vertical and hilly. Not a fault of the mod, obviously, but it seems weird that a "field" biome has pretty steep craggy hills scattered about. It just looks weird. I feel like most of these biomes would look a lot better in more flat, open terrain. I do appreciate the video as it showcases what's in the current version quite well. It is a damn shame so many biomes were removed from the mod. I'm pretty sure there was a dimension at one point? I think the mod author has sorta lost the plot and has just resorted to making really plain, boring, and sometimes straight-up ugly looking biomes. Oh well, good video though. I do agree that Better Nether is abhorrent to look at.
Great video, you actually helped me decide which biomes to disable (and there was quite a lot of them), because I personally hate adding biomes that rely purely on vanilla blocks or aren't feature rich enoguh to be considered unique. One thing to note that Geophilic Reforged actually improves some of these biomes albeit with vanilla features and blocks.
in case you were still wondering, the hydrangeas from the tropical biome are said like High-drain-Juh with emphasis on middle syllable. Very beautiful flowers.
Im still mad atvthe devs for removing the feature with the hot strings in the enchanted forest; they use to heal you for half a heart every second you were in them. "balancing" something like that by straight up removing it was completely stupid if you ask ne
Im not really a fan of BOP myself, while some of the biomes are nice subtle additions - a lot of them just feel like vanilla biomes that have been infected with an awkward, out of place colour scheme. Its cool to see a video describing them all, and its interesting to see where our opinions differ
Not even gonna hold you this is one of the only tier list i actually enjoyed. You pourred so mich effort into ranking this biome and your usage of high-class words is absouloutly stunning. +1 sub
I keep trying to write out my thoughts but I am bad at articulating them so I just want to let you know that this is a BANGER video, thank you for making it
I've been occasionally playing Minecraft PE since I was 9, and about twice a year I remember it exists and consume a buttload of MC content at once lol. Love this video, great work! "Ogres are yellow?!" and "B for blavender" made me giggle so hard
The majour thing that bothers me about volcano biomes is how the devs literally forgot to add the one thing characteristic of volcanoes and lava...Obsidian. When IRL people (who don't play Minecraft) think about obsidian the first thing that comes to mind is probably volcanoes and volcanic glass. Why it is substituted for by basalt when it is included in Withered Abyss (when soul sand/soil should have been included for that) is beyond me
Great intro, great editing, good quality and good writing. The only problem is the repetive format but that is to be expected with this type of video. Maybe having it split up into a couple smaller videos would've worked but great video overall!
Thank you so much!! Yeah, I agree it can get a little repetitive... I think the only way to solve that would be to condense multiple small segments into larger segments overall, in the way I did with certain biomes and their sub-biomes - That or really switch up the presentation style significantly in certain areas, but then I would've spent four months on this instead of nearly two 😭 Still, good feedback for me to keep in mind if I try this type of video again in the future! Super glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the comment!
Can I just say I really appreciate that this video doesn’t use shaders (or at least obvious shaders) when presenting the biomes. I feel like too many videos use shaders when presenting how pretty Minecraft is, but then when I get the mod I feel disappointed. It also makes the review better due to you not rating these based off of how they look in a shader. My favorite biomes overworld biomes in this mod are Bayou, Fungal Jungle, Glowing Grotto, Lush Desert, Origin Valley, and Rainforest. (I also really like the Redwood Forest and Pumpkin Patch) My favorite Nether biome in this mod is Undergrowth. I think all the green foliage looks very nice alongside nether’s red colors, and I like the green sky/mist.
since Minecraft already has waterlogging, it would be cool to see Mojang add snowy tall grass so that snowy biomes don't have these patches of green everywhere
I love BoP in theory. In practice, I don't like how literally every biome's terrain generation is full of vertical noise that makes it constantly slope up or down. It makes it frustrating for me to find a nice spot I like to build on without having to excavate out a valley in a hill or flatten a huge area of dirt on a field. Vanilla Minecraft has this problem as well but BoP is even worse about it. I really prefer other terrain generation and biome mods for this reason. In general though I find myself always comparing it to Vintage Story's terrain generation, which is just better in every way than anything I've ever seen in Minecraft.
the fact that there is a mix of basic, ugly, and beautiful biomes is really cool! they have a really good balance and I don’t usually say this but the mod feels like it belongs in vanilla!
Hey this is a really damn good video. I mean REALLY good. It's always the smaller youtubers that can pump out videos that are entertaining without yelling obnoxiously in your face. (Just saw this was Infernal EXP's channel; really nice mod as well. I love the Glowstone Canyons.) I think it would be neat if you did a semi-series doing these kind of rankings for popular biome mods? I personally would really enjoy an Oh the Biomes You'll Go one (I will meatride that mod 'till infinity; been my favorite mod period since 2021 and I don't think it will ever change.) due to their more fantastical biomes and more bountiful amount of Nether and End biomes. Regions Unexplored and Terralith would also be nice to see, but those aren't the ones I'm biased towards so........ yeah I would really enjoy a BYG video like this. Incredible work though. it provides a great overview for those trying out the mod, and I found myself agreeing with you a large amount of the time.
Thank you so much dude!! I would love to do more biome reviews sometime, though they're an incredibly high-effort endeavour - This took seven weeks all the way through and caused me considerable health strain in the end :'D But if I can figure it out sometime, for sure!
i know its not what a lot of people want, but i'd love a mod that puts a heavy emphasis on real life terrain & biome aesthetics. theres so many wonderful pockets of forests or plains or craggy highlands id love to see replicated as closely as possible in minecraft. i also think that theres a HUGE untapped potential in dirt variety. soil is never the same in just one place, and id love to see the tones change per biome, similar to how oak leaves change colours. maybe clay too!
I think this is a great video. Excellent presentation with what I think most people would consider at somewhat agreeable takes, also a great way to learn about biomes o plenty. One thing I think would improve the video would be detailing what mobs and structures spawn in the biomes.
I think this guy forgot that sometimes the purpose of a biome is simply to add variety to the landscape and not necessarily to look aesthetically pleasing. Seriously though this guy expected a bog to look good, last I checked the defining feature of a bog is that it has a lot of mud and is generally messy, not every biome is gonna look like some picturesque landscape where everything neatly blends together.
i was trying to watch this while waiting for a bus, unfortunately siince 75% of the footage is shot at night i'll have to leave this to watch when i get indoors somewhere, aside from that, i really like this style of narration and editing
I just started atm 9 and am trying to figure out where to settle so I checked your video, but that's kind of besides the point, I decided to comment to say this is a really good video man, I enjoyed your personality quite a bit, keep it up.
This is one of the few mods I think you could just port directly into minecraft without it feeling weird, it just adds to the vanilla experience so seamlessly
32:40 ohhhhhh.........poppy biome's pale grass contrasting volcanic plains' dark grass in a way that makes it look like there's a gap in some thick cloud cover...................yesssssssss...................
You uh... you ARE aware how old BOP is, right? This mod was not released 5 years ago, or 10 years ago :V *It was released nearly 12 years ago at this point, approx 1 year after Minecraft hit 1.0.* When BOP released, 1.3.2 was the latest version of Minecraft (as per the MinecraftForum post, Sept 24, 2012). I know you guys like to say "mojang lazy modders not lazy" (ignore the fact that several modders ARE developers, such as kingbdogz (The Aether Guy, for reference)) but... this is sorta one of the worst possible examples to use, ngl. (Also bonus fun fact: Aether was released July 22nd, 2011, or around b1.7.3)
I haven't played modded in many years but the redwood forest was my favourite modded biome Built many houses with that wood type, pretty and abundant, hope they'll add something similar to vanilla!
The video would've been better if you didn't use an outdated version of the mod to take biomes from. If I'm not wrong, they added some new biomes and even new woodtypes. If you take a look at the Jade Cliffs now, they look a lot better because they no longer have Spruce trees, but Pine trees instead. This is just an example, you should really take a look at the most recent version of the mod.
1.12.2 was honestly the best version I played. It had a lot of nice biomes that got removed in newer versions, some biomes were better then (I like the old bayou more for example) and many custom blocks and items like the gemstones or the poison water for example got removed later for no reason
From my limited experience using Biomes O Plenty in 1.20.1, the one volcano I've ever seen generated as a huge lava pool inside a giant mountain, a genuine actual handcrafted volcano, it was awesome
I love the ranking lol but I can't lie, as a builder I LOVE the grasslands biome if it's bordering another more "busy" biome that I love. Gives me a big blank slate to fill in with whatever I want. Hate when it's super hilly tho ugh. Super funny ranking tho, still watching as I'm typing but I quite enjoy it
A lot of those should've been higher, judging a biome based on the pixel problems it creates on your screen is a surprisingly one of a kind way of judging something like this I've never seen before and also a very oddly technical and non exiting system that's not really judging the biome itself. Then there's odd inclusions like the crag, which is basically just a hill, it's hardly a biome based on how small it is and I feel like the rules you made at the beginning should not include it either, cause it's just a raised surface of some of the most common already existing blocks around. No environmental effects or anything either, I could argue it's just a short hill with its grass replaced with stone, just like the exclusions in the beginning due to their tiny changes from vanilla. Overall I found this a bit messy and too harsh in ranking but it was enjoyable
The pixel problems being referred to are really just an extension of the overall aesthetic of a biome: If they're so visually noisy that they make screen distortions, there's a problem in the presentation and I will rank it down for that. You've never seen a Crag in an amplified world, they're SO cool.

Biomes O Plenty? I sure hope they are!
Interestingly enough the more dull/boring biomes are the best for building/terraforming imo
I notice the people with the most eh buildings build their base in stunningly beautiful biomes but people with really good building skills settle in the drab biomes with dead bushes
I know terralith is no mod, but man. I feel it makes minecraft look way more stunning than biomes o plenty
Terralith is one of my favourites! I love how it palpably affects even terrain height too
Terralith is both a data pack and a mod lol!!
I like the older versions with the wackier biomes that sadly don't exist or get nerfed
I really like the look of the Bog because it reminds me of the Australian outback (I'm definitely not biased) To me it feels like a more realistic place that I could actually see in real life (because I can)
Real life Bogs are very pretty - I think if instead of Trees there were just a load of bushes, BOP's take would fair way better in my rankings...
I don't even know why but this has become a comfort video and I have watched it like 10 times
That's so sweet, thank you!
Thanks a ton! Super glad it helped you! My goal is being realised :D
Interesting, I'll check that out! thanks!
in case you were still wondering, the hydrangeas from the tropical biome are said like High-drain-Juh with emphasis on middle syllable. Very beautiful flowers.
Im still mad atvthe devs for removing the feature with the hot strings in the enchanted forest; they use to heal you for half a heart every second you were in them. "balancing" something like that by straight up removing it was completely stupid if you ask ne
The visceral heap is adorable and looks like it would go great with (biomancy) perfect for the bile caverns I like to make my home base in.
Very cool to see the mod thriving after all these years. Surprised the Hot Springs Biomes is gone though, was my favourite back when
you remind me of a really chill english or bistory teacher who would always make the lessons engaging and everyone would look forward to your class
Absolutely insane humor, the only way I could watch a tier list video in its entirety
HAH Thank you so much! Super glad you enjoy it :D
best part was the "stop raining!" only for the rain to fade right back in lol
17:49 Missed opportunity to say A for Autumn
LOVED the video, would pay to see you guys make videos like this for oh the biomes you’ll go and regions unexplored!
4:50 A warning to those who play with Alex mobs; beware the cherry blossom groves.
Oh, why?
I once trapped a tiger in a hole in that biome. Good times.
+1 sub
Thank you so much!! :D
:D Thank you!! Super glad to hear you enjoyed this!
Why it is substituted for by basalt when it is included in Withered Abyss (when soul sand/soil should have been included for that) is beyond me
34:26 Actually as a british person, that green is FAR too lush to be England.
I love lush desert, I think that’s what vanilla’s deserts SHOULD look like. Vanilla deserts needed an overhaul 10 years ago
This man walks into his kitchen and goes "This Ogre color is dreadful"
Great intro, great editing, good quality and good writing. The only problem is the repetive format but that is to be expected with this type of video. Maybe having it split up into a couple smaller videos would've worked but great video overall!
Thank you so much!!
Yeah, I agree it can get a little repetitive... I think the only way to solve that would be to condense multiple small segments into larger segments overall, in the way I did with certain biomes and their sub-biomes - That or really switch up the presentation style significantly in certain areas, but then I would've spent four months on this instead of nearly two 😭
Still, good feedback for me to keep in mind if I try this type of video again in the future!
Super glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the comment!
We need more videos going in depth of popular mods. Great work.
Thanks a ton dude!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE TRANSITIONS IN THIS VIDEO
I absolutely love the editing and jokes on a topic i already find genuinely interesting great video dude
Thank you so much!!! :D
(I also really like the Redwood Forest and Pumpkin Patch)
My favorite Nether biome in this mod is Undergrowth. I think all the green foliage looks very nice alongside nether’s red colors, and I like the green sky/mist.
Yo this was my first vid on your channel! Highly underrated creator! Hope to see you blow up one day. Have a nice ine
Thank you so much!! :D
since Minecraft already has waterlogging, it would be cool to see Mojang add snowy tall grass so that snowy biomes don't have these patches of green everywhere
Wow, a minecraft youtuber that is actually funny without being over the top?
Now That! Is something to subscribe for 👍
HAHA Thank you!
the fact that there is a mix of basic, ugly, and beautiful biomes is really cool! they have a really good balance and I don’t usually say this but the mod feels like it belongs in vanilla!
I totally agree! :D
There's a bunch of worldgen mods that do that! check out AsianHalfSquat's channel to find those!
A cool idea if you want to expand more for Biomes o Plenty is to try out "Oh the Biomes you'll go" which features good 20 new biomes.
NGL I’d be interested to see you rank/review other mods like this.
Alex’s Caves and/or Alex’s Mobs I think would be neat to see.

what's the best nether mod to you?
This video feels like it would be an actual minecraft channel video
I like how he uses "Ogre" as a deluxe colour
I agree but I think this guy was just doing this for fun, not a serious critique. I think the ratings were almost completely based off aesthetics
THIS VIDEO IS INCREDIBLE!!!! WHY SO LITTLE VIEWS?
THANK YOU!!
It just came out..
@@DarkDoughnutsVids now after 3 days I can say, WHY SO LITTLE VIEWS? lol
Me forgetting that I had Biomes O’ Plenty enabled: “I don’t remember Minecraft having palm tree-oh wait a second”
no hate you sound kinda like an american doing a british accent
Sounds abit forced yea
are we suppose to care?

the old crag was.. for a very specific type of person, glad to see it’s been improved
My man its older and fantastic in old versions this mod, I remember playing before 1.7 and it was amazing considering old days Minecraft biomes
i was trying to watch this while waiting for a bus, unfortunately siince 75% of the footage is shot at night i'll have to leave this to watch when i get indoors somewhere, aside from that, i really like this style of narration and editing
Thank you for that! I'll try and brighten the night footage in the future
I just started atm 9 and am trying to figure out where to settle so I checked your video, but that's kind of besides the point, I decided to comment to say this is a really good video man, I enjoyed your personality quite a bit, keep it up.
Aw, thank you man! glad you enjoyed the video!!
This a positively lovely little known channel! You have earned my subscription
Thank you!!
Now you gotta do Oh the Biomes You'll Go, great vid

You have a great voice for this kind of content :D
Thank you very much!! :D
i dont agree with like most of this but i love the way you talk and this is a very well presented video
Thank you!
bayou blues has one of the prettiest swamp biomes imo
Damn I really love the Cherry Wooden Planks from this mod. Such a nice and vibrant shade of red
Saaame!
Aw man, i would kill for more videos like this one, absolutely lovely!
love the sa2 style intros for each stage
Thanks! They were a pain to make hehe
34:32 it feels very oregon because it's raining all the time
lithosphere+biomes o plenty has been my best Minecraft experience ever,
It’s crazy how a single mod can add more than the last like 5 years of Minecraft updates combined
Yeah... Yeah... LOL
tbf bop has been around for quite a while
You uh... you ARE aware how old BOP is, right? This mod was not released 5 years ago, or 10 years ago :V
*It was released nearly 12 years ago at this point, approx 1 year after Minecraft hit 1.0.*
When BOP released, 1.3.2 was the latest version of Minecraft (as per the MinecraftForum post, Sept 24, 2012).
I know you guys like to say "mojang lazy modders not lazy" (ignore the fact that several modders ARE developers, such as kingbdogz (The Aether Guy, for reference)) but... this is sorta one of the worst possible examples to use, ngl.
(Also bonus fun fact: Aether was released July 22nd, 2011, or around b1.7.3)
ok but the withered abyss is perfect for enderman farming when you don't have access to the end yet :)
Ngl i really ended up liking regions unexplored mod better, biomes o plenty may my hold my attention but regions unexplored is holding my heart 💀
I love how this guys voice sounds slightly maniacal, adds to the atmosphere
I haven't played modded in many years but the redwood forest was my favourite modded biome
Built many houses with that wood type, pretty and abundant, hope they'll add something similar to vanilla!
Yeaaah it rules!!
I'd love to hear your take on Oh the biomes you'll go 😍
Strongly considering it! :D
I'm sorry for the crime of commenting only 3 minutes into the video but Bayou is pronounced like "Bye-you" Thank you 🙏
The video would've been better if you didn't use an outdated version of the mod to take biomes from. If I'm not wrong, they added some new biomes and even new woodtypes. If you take a look at the Jade Cliffs now, they look a lot better because they no longer have Spruce trees, but Pine trees instead. This is just an example, you should really take a look at the most recent version of the mod.
That's fair! I'm just reviewing what I use the most here. I might make a follow up someday though...
This one of the mods I always enjoyed & I like combined it with Tropicraft.
1.12.2 was honestly the best version I played. It had a lot of nice biomes that got removed in newer versions, some biomes were better then (I like the old bayou more for example) and many custom blocks and items like the gemstones or the poison water for example got removed later for no reason
Same here! There was so many neat wood types in the 1.12.2 version
Super funny ranking tho, still watching as I'm typing but I quite enjoy it
I can totally see that! Flat biomes ARE great for that... Thanks for watching dude, super glad you're enjoying it!!
Hydrangea (Hi-drain-gee-uh) hope that helps 😊
Please do Biomes You'll Go next! Very well made video I love it!
Thank you so much! :D I'll consider it!
