I cleaned the VVT solenoid + filter , result : the engine running much smother also the ticking noise reduced , highly recommend to Do this type of maintenance in 1GR engines

Would prefer to see this on an intact engine in the engine bay. Never gonna have my Toyota heads off just to clean the vvt filter.

You don't have to pull the motor and/or heads. He showed them to us while still in the car. Passenger side is always accessible and it looks like if you remove the alternator you can get to the drivers side just fine.

I pulled and replaced my VVT filters and the VVT valve. Still getting a P0022 code. At least I know they are not the problem.

Thanks for the video if I would have known about this I'd probably still be driving my truck instead of looking for a new engine, also would it be possible to take a 1gr-fe out of a 4runner an put into a tacoma?? Or should I stick with tacoma to tacoma

The engine of the Tacoma and the 4 Runner is the same except for some parts from the outside, such as oil pan, etc.

I think the word you're looking for is "screen" not filter. It would only require cleaning on an engine the doesn't get maintained well.

@@6passfillet788 Mine turned out to be a stuck Oil control valve. If cleaning the filter doesn't work pull the Oil control valve. I hooked a 9v battery. Just touch the lead for a sec don't hold it on there. You should see the valve move. If it moves you can try to clean it and reinstall. If it don't move it may be bad.

@@joyroc885 I removed the ocv screens and they were super clean, then I removed the oil control valve itself and cleaned it well with parts cleaner while actuating it with a 9 volt. Cleared the code but it came back

@@6passfillet788 You can ohm check the oil control valve. Think it should be between 6.9-7.9 ohm. If your oil is little old you can change it and see if it clears.

How can I tell you where the oil leak is coming from without looking, maybe a wall cover gasket leak, a timing chain cover leak, a front seal leak?

P0340 Causes
A defective camshaft position sensor.
Damaged or dirty reluctor ring on the camshaft.
Defective, corroded, shorted camshaft position sensor circuit wiring.
Defective, corroded, shorted camshaft position sensor circuit connector.
A faulty crankshaft position sensor.
Stretched or misaligned timing components.

Here in the US I have the same 4.0L V-6 in Tacoma and I stick with 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil. I change it every 5,000 miles or 6 Months, which ever come first.
