The nice part is I find myself leaving my phone behind and bringing just the OSMO Pocket 3. Allows me to disconnect and get high quality footage. I’ve never considered the pocket series until this one

WOW apart from photos and zoom range, OP3 rules. Sony missed an incredible opportunity with the ZV-1 II. Had it come with 10bit, 4K 60 and decent stabilization... but, we consumers win with companies such as DJI, which is doing their best to deliver real innovation and not just "recycled" products. Great video!

I’m thinking about getting into TH-cam vlogging just for fun. So many creators out there the competition in already high so not looking to get big. Just looking to use it to practice more video work and express myself in a different way. All my cameras are BMPCC6k Pros so hard to vlog yourself with those. This would be the perfect vlogging camera!

The Pocket 3 is better than it should be. I've been so impressed with it. I had to do a real estate shoot close to an airport, so the drone idea was out the window. I put the Pocket 3 on a 25 ft poll and controlled the camera from my phone. So easy and versatile. This little camera has resolved so many issues for me and it fills a big gap in my gear I really didn't know I had.
Oh man it Prbly looks amazing for real estate stuff. Would be interesting to see what new lens attachments get developed for it now. Kinda hoping some makes like a 35mm attachment or something too. And obviously an anamorphic one 😂
@@cammackey That Camera Conspiracies guy reached out to DJI and they made him a custom mist filter for the Action 4 camera and now they might start producing them. You should reach out to DJI and request a 35mm and anamorphic cinema lens kit and I will definitely buy it.

I got the zv 1 m1 used for 450. I love it. But honestly, i would have gotten the Pocket 3 if I would start over. You have so many ways to get more shots.

here is a video that convinced me to buy this, sometimes I need a light and very small cam!
I have 2 shots I want out of the P3. First I want to be able to put it on my small ratrig slider and slide past a product whilst the active track keeps the product in the centre of the frame. The other shot, is attached to a extension pole for a boom shot, with the P3 tracking a subject or object. Im hoping there is enough resolution at 40mm for the product slide.

Probably one of the best reviews on this camera! I wish it had come out sooner since I got a go3 recently 😂 so DJI needs to just let me test one to compare it to my go3 to see if I need to change it up soon 😂

I agree about the overwhelming feeling. I’m a pretty technical guy but the menu systems on Sony, Nikon, and Canon straight up sucks! I have about $10K in video camera gear all bought in the last 2 years. I still use my iPhone for 90% of my work. This DJI is my next acquisition.

Oh man the Proteus are amazing! I would just shoot things that really stand out on scope. I like to push my lenses to see their breaking points
Which one should I use for regular clogs, going out and showcasing makeup and products and clothes and shooting low light sometimes and also to take pictures now and then
If you really wanna take any pictures, go with the Sony. But you’ll get better image quality with an iPhone honestly. Apples image processing tricks are crazy these days. For video, you’ll get more simplicity out of the Pocket 3 and it allows you to free up your phone
Solid comparison. I used to use Sony’s RX100III. Had the built in ND but no color profiles. DJI is just solid and as you say, its menus are just much simpler.
Yeah overall this camera is just perfect at its role. It's not tryign to be a bunch of different things. Just this little amazing dedicated video camera.

As great as it is, for workflow sake and just a little more options with a microphone port, vertical and horizontal formatting upon import, and if you want to shoot 4K, I would choose one of the new ZV cameras instead. I still have my RX100III though, but haven't used it since like '18.

p.s. your vid on this is easily the best that I've come across in an afternoon of research. Can I ask one quick q:-- I don't have capacity for improving my video brain because my content requires significant preparation, hence leaning toward the pocket 3 for the reasons you mentioned at the end of your review. BUT, is the p3 capable (say with your LUTs) of giving me a similar internal vlogging vibe that you've got going (presumably on a mirrorless or the like)? Ta in advance, N
At times yes. The big difference is lens selection. I use a lot of anamorphic lenses and have been using the Module 8 L3 Tuner as well.. neither the ZV1 or the P3 is capable of replicating that look because it requires lenses obviously haha.But if youre just tryign to get a standard vlog look, the P3 will deliver. DJIs regular 709 isn't very inspiring, but I was super shocked when I started to make my LUTs for it with how capable the 10bit is on the P3.

Does it only work with dji mic or can it work with rhode wireless go as well?
Yes you can plug them into the USB C port! Not sure on the rode mics tho, I haven’t used those in a while

I was heavily overwhelmed by the Sony zv-1 and when I would record it would try to focus on me so much because I moved around a lot and I hated that. my content was getting messed up . the dji might be perfect for me .

I have absolutely no use for this. But I really want one.
I’ve been impressed with the quality I’ve gotten out of my osmo pocket 3…but after 3 days of using it on a trip the screen stopped staying flipped open. It was part of the device that I was wondering how it would hold up. My local beat buy doesn’t have any to exchange so I have to go the DJI route and ship it to them to be replaced. That part stinks and I’m hoping the process is a quick turn around!
Oh so weird, mine still feels super solid. Do you think it got bumped or something? I’ve actually dropped mine three times now and it looks super beat up haha
@@cammackey I don’t believe so, it was in my backpack in the hard case other than it being used. I was so piased because it was midway through my trip so I had to hold the screen in horizontal to record. DJI sent me a label for 2 day shipping and they said they would replace it with a new one once they determine the issue. They said I had to send the entire package even the box, which I thought was random, thankfully I keep all my boxes.
@@cammackey just got mine back right in time for the holiday. They sent a brand new unit and are sending a random gift for the inconvenience. So far very impressed with DJI’s support.
@@FrequencyOfThought I’ve dropped mine 3 times and it’s banked up and still works jsut fine. I never even bring a tripod for it. Just slides into my back pocket. Wireless mic connects instantly. New features are coming too ;)

Nope!
I find the 20mm lens of the pocket 3 a compromise that doesn't work.
Too narrow for selfie/vlog mode, too wide for filming scenario without a zoom.
They kinda now and they added a fish eye lens, but there's a lot of distorsion.
I would have prefered a less portable solution with an optical zoom and a 15-45 lens, or even something less 12-40 if possibile.
Or i would have gone with a 12/15mm lens on the camera and then using zoom-in lens for scenarios.
Vlogging with your arm stretched it's a bit of a pain.
I HIGHLY disagree brutha. 20mm is perfect. You can get your whole face and chest in frame and keep some COMPRESSION. That’s the key to creating separation and not making it look like it’s a GoPro. Which brings me to my next point, you might actually prefer the Action 4 or GoPro

Currently using a canon m50 mark II, with a 15-45 and I would like to buy a 12mm lens but preserve the ability to zoom in without losing image quality, for my needs that's what stop me to buy the pocket 3

Well that’s why there is footage 🤷🏽♂️ I would never manipulate the scenario. I use to love using the ZV1 but had a lot of gripes with it so would jsut end up using a proper camera.. which would then get me to miss a lot of BTS shots just out of laziness. The pocket 3 kills that laziness. Been using it a shit ton

New Feature Requests for the New DJI OSMO Pocket 3
1. Add a dwelling time for each of up to four settable movement positions in Motion Time-Lapse Mode. As each of the four settable positions programmed into a motion time-lapse sequence is reached, the end user could set from 1 to 10 seconds of a pause in gimbal movement as each programmed position is reached during the sequence before the gimbal moves forward to the next programmed position. This would yield a much more dynamic and professional looking, smoother motion time-lapse sequence.
2. In Motion Time-Lapse Mode the ability to set movement ease in and ease out settings from 0.5 to 3 seconds for each programmable gimbal position before gimbal movement normal progression rate is reached.
3. True 24.00p filming speed.
4. The ability to set time-lapse sequences based on 24.00p.
5. The ability to be able to record from the DJI Mic 2 and from a plugged in via USB audio source at the same time.

DJI just erased Sony’s entire zv line and canon vlog cameras from market. They deserve this. Their complete package, price, everything is on point.
Great DJI commercial! Don't mention that the Sony has adjustable aperture, zoom, superior photo capability, wider lens, flash and digital mic support, removable battery, product showcase focus, superior eye tracking, etc. You really tried hard to make the Sony look clunky and cumbersome, but in actuality its the pocket 3 that requires a case, additional wireless mic, extra NDs and lenses. You can just slip the Sony in your pocket and go without any accessories. DJI sure has spent a a lot of money to try to convince people that they have the superior camera.
False. You really didn’t get the point did you haha. I said VLOGGING camera. You really think your standard vlogger is trying to mess with any of those settings??? Hell no. They put it in auto and run with it.
To address some of your ideas. The ZV1 II is incredibly jittery without any digital stabilization.. so once you turn on stabilization it crops in tighter than the P3. The P3 has an extra battery add on. It also has product show case. The P3 doesn’t require a case. It doesn’t require a wireless mic, on board mics sound great.
From my tests, the PS really does have superior image quality. As I stated you can get more out of the ZV1 II but you have to put it in slog and know how to use that and the image is only 8 bit so falls apart unless you’re a professional colorist.
I didn’t make a 30 minute video covering all of this. So chill out and do some more research. I work with Sony a lot. Almost all My cameras are Sony. But the P3 is way more useful than the ZV1 II. No need to get mad over it.
The pocket 3 literally destroys the sony, it's not even close, scott what are you even talking about, just the fact that dji is 10 bit and sony isn't bro, one has literally an integrated gimbal and is still much smaller, it cost much less, so much easier to use, actually works better in a lot of situation because of AI

Osmo pocket looks good on paper. But being so small and light, it won't be smooth. Yoi need some heft to get stabke shots. Simple physics
This is a little different. One, you’re talking about a mirrorless camera with tight lens options for total different use. Literally just repeating a standard for a totally different type of camera. This camera is beyond light. The ZV1 you see microshakes.. on the poker 3 you do not. Gotta think for yourself and keep an open mind brutha

Zv1 mark II has automatic ND filters build in internally. Why exactly would you need camera cage for? Your comparison is clearly biased.
It is not automatic, it’s only up to 3 stops as well which is useless. Thats why I didn’t talk about it. And you need a camera cage to rig it on to different suction cups and mounts. I owned the ZV1 for a couple of years and and never once used the ND because 3 stops is not enough. I would shoot in slog3 and its was insanely noisy, granted I know how to color grade and clean up footage. But from a regular users perspective.. they’re not about to buy $300 in noise reduction plugins when they use this camera

@@cammackey well we know that it adds a built-in gimbal and that's great, we know that it's more convenient, we already know why it's better and those regards. I think people came to this video to see the difference in image quality. You did say that DJI is 10 bit and Sony is 8 so that's good but it'd be good to see the actual examples of the quality of image.
