Same, but I got 2 years on you. AWESOME
3 years on you and going heavier in music
Started listening in my 20's now I am 56 and still listening
Cool man, I'm 47 too but remember this on MTV when they actually played only music and not Jersey shore and other BS shows...lol
@@Anomander1 Check out Xentrix's bury the pain from 2019, solid album, for who's advantage (1990) and Shattered existence (1989) If u haven't heard of em.
I've been a "Metal" fan since I was a little kid listening to my brother's Deep Purple albums back in the early 1970s. There is just something about "thrash" from about 1984 - 1990 that cannot be replicated. One of the greatest eras in music ever.
+Clarence Doskocil I am so glad you put those quotes, because Deep Purple was actually not meta, even though some writers have said thatl. For music to be metal, it needs to meet at least one three requirements: 1. There must be palm muting, and or soloing in the guitar portion, if that exists. 2. It must be something you can headbang to. 3. The drums must emulate a violent altercation of some sorts, so double bass rolls are metal, but the drummer for the eagles does not sound metal. Nor does "Smoke On The Water" which people naively say is the first metal song. Sabbath was writing the first metal.
EDIT: The first metal song is "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles. Black Sabbath is just some bullshit that ignoramuses write in history books about metal.
+Dan Zhukov And is that statute is it?
Iain Bell I would say so, if you keep the use of the word "metal" exact enough. All metal music is distinct for those reasons, so one can define it in that way.
I totally agree man!! I got into Testament around 1988 or so....shortly after Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Megadeth and Anthrax. Testament was first among a second set of amazing bands i got into in the late 80's ...Overkill, Kreator, Forbidden, Death Angel, Metal Church and Sepultura. I often wondered if The Legacy was the best album of all the bands mentioned, but that is just too damn hard to say with certainty. ".....Holding the quest for freeeeeDOM.....that BECKONS MEEEEEEE!!"
Hard to get any thrashier after Rust in Peace!!!
This is, in my opinion, is the purest example of the bay area thrash sound out there!
I agree that Testament does Bay Area thrash great justice. I think Death Angel does it better, but Testament follows right behind and that's saying a LOT. For me, thrash metal is represented by Death Angel, Testament and Exodus. The Bay Area kills it. One of my favorite thrash songs of all time is "The Preacher".
\m/
Yeah bro!
I'm very happy for all the blessed ears
Dark angel
still strong in 2024!!! listening and jammin to testament since '87; checkin them out in Phx Oct 2024!!!!!!!
Exodus, Testament and Overkill are greatly underrated bands.
They sure are
And Anthrax overrated!!
But Testament only has four good albums. Like all those thrash bands of the 80's, in the 90's and onwards they sold out. Now Testament may play thrash, but's too shitty, modern and metalcored for my taste. They fucking suck now.
And exhorder and artillery
My list of thrash bands, Testament, Slayer, Warbringer, Kreator, Toxic Holocaust, Anthrax, Exmortus, Exodus, old school Metallica, Annihilator, Evile, Overkill, Destruction, Sodom, Death Angel, Suicidal Angels and Havok.
3:39 Everybody gangsta until Chuck Billy starts punching the camera.
Even the camera man ain't safe!
Cant fuck wit Chuck hes savage
Chuck Billy's "Whitest Teeth In Bay Area Thrash Metal" award won him an all- access package to Alcatraz so they could film this video.
I was just thinking "man he has some really nice teeth"
As a mexican, this is my favorite song
One of the best guitar solos ever in this song... 2.16 onwards..
chris d it's great, but Mr. Crowley,Revelation,Tonight"outro", if you ever Get a chance to listen to Crying in the Rain, guitar isolated,Believer "live", 1st solo in Electric Crown, some Friedman stuff,Edge of thorns,Hall of the MountainKing, but this is up there, especially when he goes into a bend to vibrato at.2.46 Chuck fukin Billy
Only beaten by Marty and Tornado Of Souls
Charlotte Nah
@@Walamonga1313 Tornado of souls solo humiliates this to a pulp, still a great fukin one
Josh Christian comes to mind, since we're talking thrash and best solos. There are lots of amazing guitarists.
Classic Thrash Metal!
Drummer is killing it man.
The 80's kicked ass! Wish I could go back to those days.
Fukn, go back to that man........... yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh
the best metal was in the 80s!!!!
Best years in history
Me too!!!
those were great days but the early 90's kicked ass too
Chuck was diagnosed with covid-19 this morning best wishes to him what a fucking legend
one of the most beautiful solos in thrash metal
simply one of the best thrash bands
I still remember the ecstasy I felt when I heard this song's solo back when I was 15 years old.
The golden days. Thanks to my friend for introducing me to metal.
You were in testament in a past life
old but gold
1987!!! 😎🤘
The greatest year of all time!!!!!!
The Greatest year for music YES
fucking 80's thrash is the best
Testament is legendary
I love Testament...old school thrash at its finest!!!
Alex Skolnick the most melodious lead guitar in thrash metal
THE SOLO IS SO GOOD\m/
Know right?
+samothken oh fuck ya bud
+samothken Indeed! I don't even pay attention to leads most of the time, but I frequently get the opening bit of this solo stuck in my head. It's one of the best!
+RIK VARTIGYAN Hey Rik! Nice to see you here! lmao
@RIK VARTIGYAN Judas Priest has the best solos! But Testament is very close.
2:15 this solo man...fucking great
gotta also love the pinch harmonics
Solid Snake that listen to Testament? That's why you are a tough man!
OMG that solo!!! 😍😍😍Alex Skolnick is fucking amazing!
I've been a prisoner
Trapped in by fear
Ordered for the rest of my life
Condemned in a jail cell
Ain't seen life in years
Escape is the only way out
Restart my life
Or self destruction
To climb this wall
Of dark construction
Holding the quest for freedom
That beckons me
My sanity is all but gone
My patience is growing very weak
I need to get a hold of myself
I stare at the wall
For the right time to come
Escape must occur on this night
Restart my life
Or self destruction
To climb this wall
Of dark construction
Holding the quest for freedom
That beckons me
Stand in my way
And I'll run you straight through
There's no one to stop me now
For I'm on the loose
And I'm ready to start
Torture and hell on this town
Over the wall!!!
The search will not stop
And the hounds will not rest
Till I am back in my cell
For if I am caught, I will try it again
Over the wall I will go, I will go!!!
Restart my life
Or self destruction
To climb this wall
Of dark construction
Holding the quest for freedom
That beckons me
Over the wall!
I don't understand how people call Testament a 'Metallica clone'. They sound completely different and are waayy more technical than metallica.
(Although metallicas riffs are simple, they still kick serious ass and require a lot of endurance)
Dr. Psychedelic and Metallica sucked throughout the 90s and 2000s whereas Testament were consistent
Because of "Practice" - "Ritual"
testament are somewhere between metallica and slayer and that makes them the best
Calling them a Metallica clone is to be totally ignorant and musically deaf! Hell Metallica could learn several things from Testament!
@@terrynb12 oh yes !!
Man...TESTAMENT have got to be the MOST overlooked/underrated/ignored/etc. band EVER !!! We have no one to blame but ourselves- I mean us, the consumers. Billy's vocals/growls are probably the most influential lyrical delivery that metal has ever heard. 99% of modern metal (death, grindcore, the
+Michael Kurtz i seen them in 2010 they still kicked ass.
And Alex's guitar shredding is some of the best ever
I think OverKill is even more underrated/overlooked/ignored. Testament is the most famous thrash band outside of the big 4, yet Overkill is one of the oldest and most consistent bands in thrash and get almost no recognition.
+Rusty Shackleford Death Angel i like the most
+Rusty Shackleford so true!
My god The Legacy is one of my most cherished thrash metal albums
I just visited Alcatraz last week. The entire time I was there I was thinking about this music video 😻
Black pants, metal t shirt, white baseball shoes and leather jacket. That was my uniform in the 80s
Testament forever🤘🤘🤘🤘
fuck yeah , "The Legacy" is one of the best thrash albums of all time, long live to Testament
Alex is an awesome guitarist! A highly underrated band. Love Testament!
WARNING: The surgeon general has determined that listening to Testament at high volumes while working out can cause sudden massive surges of raw energy and power and extreme increases in strength. Use responsibly 🤘💪
I can get a few more reps in no doubt!
These fuckers got me 2 discs replaced in my neck, and I wouldn't change a thing.
Can confirm!!!! Be careful!!! 😎🤘🔥☠️🖤💯🎸
'80s = best years for heavy metal music for me! Testament Great thrash metal band. Thanks from Italy
Love Alex's guitar
Alex Skolknicks solos make me sit up and pay attention everytime. A blessing to the genre.
Saw Testament in 1993 in Anchorage, AK. Awesome show for $13!
This bridge and lead are legendary
The first time I heard this was back in 1988.
awesome kick ass solos!
Listening since kid❤
Fan since age 17 in 1987
I love Testament. How I miss the golden age of Thrash Metal!!*

Testament is THE most underrated band in all of Metal. And this song still gets me fired up just as much as the day it was released! At 50 years old Testament enables me to still be able to run through brick walls..
the energy and power here by these young guys made me take notice as a few hours earlier was listeneing to native blood which is also a powerful tune but over the wall runs circles around n blood and to me thats remarkable.
The Dynamo sticker & shirt makes this one very special for the Dutch! Small European country big, in thrash history!
This is the song and video that first got me into Testament. Very melodic for a fast thrash song.
For you, Allan "Merlin" (RIP 2019), Souvenirs, I miss you...
This is when I new Testament was Sick!
I miss 80s metal. There are so few bands out now that sound anything like this. Testament deserved more recognition in the 80s. They're every bit as good as the big 4 were.
I like them more than Slayer

One of my favorites from Testament!
The stone club in Sf had this video playing all the time when they had shows.....whew the good old Stone Sf days 😊
Damn me, why i whole 90's haven'see this band?
Same shit. Even this song...i'd found that after i've heard Slayer's Killogy)))
Chuck's vocals are awesome!
Respect the mighty Alex Skolnick 🤘🤘🤘
A true testament to rock.
Man I loved this album..they should be in the big 4...I think they deserve it more than Anthrax
A big 4 mediocre rip off band in the big 4..., lmfao
GREAT THRASH METAL BAND!!
TESTAMENT IS AWESOME!!
Alex skolnick is the reason i listen to testament... really an under appreciated guitar virtuoso and guitar God
Everyone remembers where they were the first time they heard this solo.
Clásico del metal! Viva Testament carajo! Que buen solo!
Saludos desde Coimata, Bolivia
for 1987....Chuck probably had the nicest teeth in metal.
Kick ass song.
I was around 10 years old when I saw this video on Headbanger's Ball. I'm now 36 and have been a Testament fan ever since.
The solo on this never fails to please. Even after all these years.
Been listening to this over 20 years now and it still gives me goosebumps
Man.. I could listen to this song all day
It's Great Sh!T

When I was 16 this was my old time rock and roll!
the last guitar solo is wonderful.
This video sums up my youth, crushed by pop and Stock Aitken Waterman, this was our release and over the wall!
When Metal was great!
C Sanchez true metal will always be great, brother!
Fav Skolnik solo.
You Gotta love that Shot of the kick Pedal in your FACE! LOL Totally awesome.
FEEL BETTER CHUCK YOU GOT THIS!
Chuck Billy doing those vocals at the end was insane
I remember being a young metal head back in the 90's and seeing this video on VH1. I was stoked to find another band that sounded like the stuff I liked (Metallica, Megadeth), but I missed who it was on the video. After doing much research (this was pre-internet, mind you) I finally figured it out and was so happy. \,,/
I’d breakout of Alcatraz just to go see Testament Live! Bet the Anglin brothers had the same idea in mind!
