I had this album about right when it came out, bought it from Apple Emporium in Appleton Wisconsin, best metal store ever, but this album was huge for me growing up, it was a big push to listen to faster music like all the death metal that came out right at the same time , best days of my life.
This album shows Testament in all of their glory. Also the fact this is their very first album is unbelievable. Every song is ferocious with the pefect blend of catchiness. One of my all time favorite thrash albums, absolute masterpiece!
This was one of the first cassette tapes I ever owned that was an actual album (instead of blank & recorded over). It was 1988 and i got it at Goody’s in Manhattan. This was hugely influential in my life.
I definitely prefer the pace of these fast songs to the mid paced stuff. Fast vocals, riff heavy with Hooks in the music and vocals all over the place, and the solos… excellent
After this release, they never sounded like this again. Fuckin corner stone in Thrash. And at 59, I crank my shit like it was 1989. Took it serious as fuck then, take serious as fuck now. Never let up. Jimmy C. Phoenix (westside)
