There was one thing that I didn't talk about and i'm sad that I did not include it since I just forgot. If you are trying to find an impaler, if you listen to sound cues you can hear the impaler burrowing its spines and that would be the direction that the impaler is in. Sometimes I can hear them through walls, but without these sound cues I am completely lost sometimes. Wish I included that since i did have footage of it. Oh well, hope the rest of this helps you out
I've tried to track these things down, but in the middle of a regular encounter, with bugs swarming from every direction, I can't really hear anything.
@TM-qe2us yeah it's rough, there is a Rumbling that comes from the ground the moment it puts its head in the earth, it's still a little rough to hear though
the annoying part about impalers is that it was meant to be sort of a "stop running and fight this thing". Yet whenever the tentacles come up the ground me and my team is always like "WHERE IS THIS THING EVEN AT?" You can't run from it, and sometimes you can't even find and fight it.
Yeah, the only thing that really points them out is the sound that they make when they first put their spines into the ground But once that sound is over with and you didn't find them it's rough
@@wisprs_gaming Another trick is to take a quick look at the map. Large enemies like chargers show up as a much larger dot. So on the map, there will be one big dot that isn't moving. I've been experimenting with scout armor for this.
would be nice if damage to the tentacles had a small damage transfer to the impaler's main health, similarly to shooting off terminid legs and other extraneous parts. So that if you do find yourself unable to engage the impaler directly, it doesn't feel like a complete waste of ammo to stop and shoot away the tentacles. At the end of the day it's still realistically a part of the impaler. Although technically it's probably just considered a separate enemy as far as the game is concerned, so implementing such a thing would require a separate damaging method that "mimics" the body part damage transfer, rather than using the damage mechanics already there.
I got one more spot for the grenade launcher, if you can angle it so it explodes right under the mouth (behind the tentacles) you can consistently kill in 4-5 grenades from any direction except directly in front.
This is true! The grenade launcher can take the impaler out in almost every direction if you get it to hit the mouth area by bouncing the grenades, it is very consistent
@aunazune the impalers spines have a 3meter shock effect If you are hit directly by the spine though it will hit you through the shield If you dodge a spines direct attack you won't be rag dolled from the AoE that it does If you have the shield
The 500kg bomb I have to disagree with, it's very inconsitent. At times it can't kill the impaler or titan with one direct hit, other times it's a one shot.
@JoeyJoestar99 against the impaler I would throw it right in the middle of the impaler most times and it would take it out, there was a few times the 500kg would hit the back of the impaler straight on and not kill it tho, but it is a lot easier to land than the precision strike Bile titans though, yeah, 500kgs are weird against bile titans
Best of luck to you! So far I've just been hugging the spines and attacking them if I can't kill the impaler right away that's if they aren't rag dolling you the whole time already tho:/
quick tip about the 500kg, it has a cone explosion that someone had made a diagram for that i couldnt find, but it is basically like a nuke, but smaller. What you want to do, is have the middle of the explosion, hit the titan's head. It's very hard to do, but if you bait it to stomp it works every time. there is also a glitch where if the titan is spewing it's head doesnt take damage so there's that too so you HAVE to bait a stomp not a spew. similar thing with how the precision works on the impaler head. Hope that helps!
I do plan on it! I actually had started on doing this with all the new enemies but then I started really getting into the impaler and realized the impaler was a lot more fleshed out as an enemy and needed more time
I didn't see you try the 110 missile strike? I don't know if the imp had been damaged but I seemed to have one shotted it on the head with them that I've seen. Probably a similar thing to the precision.
I am in the process of putting another video together I did try out the rocket pod! But I kept on hitting the back of the impaler, sometimes multiple times and it felt really inconsistent so I didn't add it as viable But! I am in the process of making a "best ways to kill the impaler combos" to see like how many grenade pistol shots it takes to take down a impaler after 1 rocket pod or 2 rocket pods It's taking me awhile though for every strategem again haha
They need to make impalers line of sight only. Kinda ridiculous it can follow you across the map without seeing you. Also since ah loves realism they need to explain how it’s burrowing through solid rock at the speed of sound.
I would like it if the spines hitting me were very blind, like if I just crouch walked they wouldn't be able to attack me or something like that to make tricking them easier The one thing that I do wish though is that they wouldn't be able to attack me through walls, I have to gimmick mega nests for that reason
From my experience it's better to Precision Strike or 500kg right in front of the Impalers face, and the Impaler seems to live if hit directly to the armor by the 500kg. Going by the helldiver database the 500kg does not have enough damage to kill it with just the explosion since it only deals 1.2k and the Impaler head has 1.7k hp. Maybe it double dips the damage same as some support weapons seemingly do on the head or actually kills by destroying the back leg.
@n16r49 ah! That makes sense Yeah I've seen it where the 500kg gets implanted into the impalers back and the impaler is like "try again sweetie" I do sometimes go for the back legs but because of the way the impalers butt is so large it sometimes just turns or moves just enough that the back legs don't get hit so I truly like to position the strikes in between the leg and the head, seems to work most of the time

Especially when I'm throwing it with enemies around
good video
How does a channel so packed with knowledge have 300 subs???
haha, I dont post often enough I think
and I just barely am getting the hang of making videos
so many things to learn when starting a 1 man channel
@@wisprs_gaming keep it up the information is very useful.
I really hope the damage inconsistency for the face is not intentional.
I truly feel like they didnt test the impaler before sending it out
i dont think it is intentional, but it doesnt feel good when trying to test things:/
I've had impalers survive a well placed 500KG, is it really always consistent?
@zayedsays4847 when testing the 500kg on the impaler it was a lot easier to land than the precision strike and would kill more often even if I was off a little
That being said though, if you put the 500kg underneath it impaler sometimes it will end up hitting the back and not taking it out, so either aiming for a back leg or the head is still something to consider
Never, ever, use a scorcher on a bug hunt….
Once i flew so high from impaler glitch that i could see whole map and i was stuck in air and that area where we spawn looked like i was watching it from space and i couldn't die the couldn't do anything just basically had to quit that match
@krishnap5148 dang! I was hoping something like that would happen
Wish I could've seen it, that sounds like a great time, until you had to quit the match of course
Eagle Strafing Run can 1 shot it or greatly weaken it when it is exposed.
2-3 eagle Strafes to take it out is what I got a lot in my testing
It is good against them and it for sure staggers them if you are too far away
@@wisprs_gaming I've tested it on Difficulty 5 Hunt Impaler Missions. I have seen it one shot an Impaler twice.
I think the drop in point of the Eagle has a ton of bullets that rain down so it is very possible in killing an Impaler but I think that it is hard to replicate either due to terrain, distance or the angle of the impaler.
But yea otherwise 2 will consistently kill them if they are exposed.
Cheers!
Cheers!!
What do you mean all backpacks other than Jetpack are neutral against the Impaler?? The Shield Backpack makes you resist its stagger, this usually gives you plenty of time to come right up to it.
I can't remember if it can tank multiple hits from the tentacles, but the fact I've been running this made me oblivious to the fact the community was getting ragdolled everywhere on the galaxy for quite a while!
@AlexiSonic I first say that the shield pack is the main back pack go run against the impaler and then jump pack is 2nd and every other back pack is neutral or not useful against the impaler
But yes! The tentacles have like a 3m AoE attack and the personnel shield does well against it
@@wisprs_gaming Oh my bad I missed it the first time I listened, I should have paid more attention. Thank you for your response!
@@AlexiSonic no you're okay! I wasn't trying to come off rude if I did! You were right about the shield pack
The impaler in HD1 would go down with 1 shot to the head with the recoilless:(
@itriyum I was thinking about trying out that game again but I'm not sure if it's viable to play anymore
I call him... The Tickler
Honestly, that has a pretty scary touch to it
cant watch this after 02:36. makes me wanna play helldivers. and that makes me wanna lead a mission. and that requires talking. but i cant go loud cuz friend is sleepy sleepy. well , lets save the world tomorrow again.
Good luck on your helldivers 2 runs tomorrow!
1:31 If you belong discord official helldivers server u would know flamethrower is coming back and can penetrate armor and also its getting buff
From the server: "We're excited to share more details about upcoming update, which will include significant changes aimed at improving your experience in Helldivers 2.
**From now on, every day we will shed more and more light on the September 17th update.**
## Buff no. 1: Flamethrowers
We've heard you loud and clear and Flamethrower damage is increased by 33%!
Flamer mechanics will be reverted to the state before the Escalation of Freedom update and flamebased weapons can now damage heavier enemies like Chargers, Bile Titans, Impalers and Hulks."
Two spears. Next
It's not rocket science, you just have to spot it early to take it out. If you see the tentacles instead of it first, run away and come back when it's mobile again.
But yes, that of course makes sense
My job is to figure out non-perfect scenarios though
You forgot the Tesla Tower, I’ve had it kill impalers
Oh? I didn't test the tesla tower
I tested the blitzer and the arc thrower and they could take it out, it just took awhile
So I didn't think the tesla was worth mentioning if an arc thrower was focusing on the impaler n it took a bit
6:40 no, not even Bile Titans- I don’t think you know what you talking about
I think the idea is super cool and they look super awesome... but they make me miserable. I can't fucking stand them. Ragdolls me constantly, half the time I can't find them, infinite tentacle reach, they really make me just not enjoy the match at all everytime they show up. Really wish they had some type of different attack
Yeah. I think they need a slightly smaller attack nerf, if they attacked just a little bit less or if I would be able to stand back up to play would be nice
I’m paler made me Hellflyer instead of Helldiver
I wish I could've put freebird to this xD
i would love to play but i crash nonstop
Im so sorry man:/ that is a real bummer to hear
I remember when the first time the game came out, I actually refunded the game because I couldn't play and then bought it again later on, sad to hear that its happening to you now 6 months later tho
6:26 he sed ONLY 4 lol
CHARGE!
GET EM!
2 spears from distance works for me
That's my bad, I should've included my testing for the spear since it's so good right now
Like how many grenade pistol shots it takes after 1 spear attack n others
Hey man, cool video but your mic is little bit too bassy and it makes your words harder to understand, just a small feedback
Oh yes! Thank you for this
I have been working on my sound for awhile
And I do agree
I feel like it's close to being good but it could be better, I will work on the audio as much as I can
@@wisprs_gaming it could be just my setup right, im using simple speakers with subwoofer, and in some moments when the tone of voice gets lowered it turns into squished bass buzzing, maybe you are too close to mic?
I think this has something to do with it
I do tend to put the mic closer and farther after taking breaks
I also just listen to other youtubers and feel like they are super clear and sound great and mine is like weird
I'm going to look more into it today
I really want a crisp sound, especially for these types of videos
Ya know, I also don't have a pop filter, I'll buy that today and see if it helps
@@wisprs_gaming yeah i think good voice setup can make or break a stream or video, because for some people its gonna be hard to listen and thry immediately tune out
@pisk64 yeah I agree with that, my previous videos had pretty bad audio, and I've been trying to improve them more and more
Feel like it's getting there but still needing something
I will for sure take your feedback and use it
2:00
Lol Stim Booster is broken
Oh yeah, I did the emote trick there
If you emote while falling it can sometimes remove all damage
I like eggs
@jonnguyen9682 😆 me too man, me too
super smart with the movement fake
It's a niche thing to do, but every small thing helps if you're about to get ragdolled like crazy
What about 110?
@@bukchoiii it was more like 150 to 200 impalers, I just didn't want to count haha
@@wisprs_gaming I mean 110mm rockets against them lol
OH! I never saw this!! On future videos I plan on doing a lot more testing at the end for everyone needing an even deeper dive
I am in the process of updating this video
Because even though I felt like it was decent, it could've been better with testing and showing
I did many more tests and only showed those I thought were viable to show but there truly is more that I could've showed
The fact EMP does not affect empaler is another devs nonsense. There is no sense in it.
Agreed, all I could think of was devs made it really slow and they didn't want emp mortars to just make it useless on defense maps. But it doesn't feel right
Tbh imapler is not that hard to kill, what make it hard is the fkin horde that spwn along side it
Yeah an isolated impaler is a dead impaler
Is there any tips on consistently FINDING this bastard in a chaotic fire fight? I heard a rumor the tentacles direction gave some kind of direction clue but have not tested it.
Not really man
The tentacles will always spawn behind you at first but once they start moving around, it's hard to know
The only real thing that let's me know where it's at is the sound cue when they first burrow their spines into the ground, but it's sometimes hard to hear
