  • This is a quick video showing a short part of our initial test day.
    Charged Cycle Works owner Nate is preparing to enter this bike into a grand-prix race against gas dirt bikes, so this is him putting some seat time in on the new setup.
    Bike Build includes:
    EBMX X-9000 Controller
    EBMX XUB-80 Motor
    WP KTM 85 Forks
    Custom Excel 18/21 Wheels
    Charged Cycle Works 72V 76Ah battery
    We originally had this bike tuned to 25kw at 900pa on the 80v 76ah battery. We wanted to also test the 72v 76ah battery to see how it would react, so this is 2 hot laps tuned to 17kw and 800pa. By the time we started recording these 2 final laps of the day, the battery was drained down to 40% remaining. It did extremely well but we will ultimately put the 80v high power battery on and push upwards of 35Kw.
    We are extremely happy with the heat dispersion and power of the XUB-80 Motor from EBMX and are excited to run this bike head to head against gas bikes at an hour-long Grand Prix Race this coming weekend. After several motos and maybe 20 hot laps, the motor did not come close to overheating.
    The biggest fault when it comes to motocross style riding is the suspension at the moment. Many brands are working towards releasing amazing suspension and tunes that will solve this issue in the near future. We are and will be testing many options to provide the best ride possible.
    We are confident that with the right suspension this bike will be an absolute track destroyer!
    Stay Tuned and please like comment and subscribe to see as the testing pursues! Thank you for watching!

    Hello! Why using a 72v76ah? Why not using a 82v76ah? How much power and range should I expect to get for the 82v76ah vs 72v76ah with the x9000 and xlb80?

    I’ve been looking at getting a Surron Ultra Bee for awhile now but with the release of the new E-ride Pro SS, I don’t know which too choose. Any feedback?

      Our advice on any new bike coming to the market is this: Do you want to upgrade and modify or ride it stock? If you are OK riding a stock bike then feel free to try a new brand. But if you are the type that enjoys upgrades, accessories, customizations, the Surron is just like a Jeep, the aftermarket can transform the bike into anything you desire. If you want to try something new to the market, I would wait until 2024 at this point, there are a lot of new bikes hitting the market some that have not even been announced yet.

    What is the new top speed on an ultra bee with an, upgraded controller, motor, and a battery upgrade?

      Fast enough to clear all the jumps at the local MX track and scare ya! We don't look at the speedo when we're trying to hit an 80' jump...

    What tire sizes do you run on this Ultra Bee?
    I'm worried that 90/90-21 is too big in diameter for the fork.

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      90/90 is huge, most motocross and off road riders on very large heavy fast bikes don't even run that size, they prefer 80/100-21 because it turns better. On the rear never go larger than 100 you'll regret the weight gain otherwise. The #1 thing to always remember on these light electric bikes is that weight especially in your wheels decreases power and range. Nobody wants that. This is why we are so careful about the tires and tubes that we select, we always try to minimize weight and pick the correct sizes that offer the best performance at the lightest weight. Be sure to see the Weight Chart database on our website located in the footer of the page. We are running 18/21 with the new Dunlop MX34 tires found here: chargedcycleworks.com/products/18-21-wheel-and-tire-combo-for-ultra-bee

      @@ChargedCycleWorks I thought so too, front i took a Metzeler 6days extreme 80/90-21, for the rear tire i took a Mitas C-18 green (super light) 110/100-18.
      But now im a bit unsure, about the rear tire...
      and atm the front rear size ratio is about equal, i think its not optimal
      BTW i also have a SX85 fork in my ultra, but in germany its a bit complicated coz of german TÜV, for the street legal stuff😂

    What is top speed on this

  • @Hunter_Heart
    @Hunter_Heart 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The front fork bottom out after you maximize the potential of the fork? You couldn’t clear well that one jump on this track due to lack of speed as in the motor is not strong enough or other factors?

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      The suspension was setup for more grand-prix/ desert racing so it was a bit soft for the Moto track and large jumps. We only had the bike tuned to 17kw during this test. We can tune upwards of 35kw on this bike and make the bike plenty fast for the track. This was a test to get Nate comfortable on the new setup. Soon we will push more power and show you the true potential of this bike.

      @@ChargedCycleWorks On paper EBMX's motor does have the best nominal of 13k. I can't wait to see Nate bring out the full potential of this motor/controller on this track. Subbed.

      @ChargedCycleWorks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also, remember, when it comes to motocross it's 80% rider 20% bike. Some of these jumps are huge with enough risk that if you don't clear them all the way your are going to eject yourself off the bike and into the hospital. While the KTM fork is up front and we can tune it for this, the rear still has the OEM KKE shock that has no dampening after the shock body heats up and becomes a mess. (very soon we'll have a solution for this) Risk vs reward. This day we were getting the bike setup for a Desert race the following weekend and clearing all the biggest jumps was not part of the plan. :). The goal of this test session was #1 can we overheat the EBMX motor which is what's holding Nate back from winning the last 2 GP races, the stock motor overheats very easy at only 15kw? #2 suspension setup for a mix of Desert and MX GP...making it softer than track. Setup complete and can't wait to race it next weekend!

    • @ChargedCycleWorks
      @ChargedCycleWorks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A lot of people don't want to learn how to use a clutch and shift gears. Never seen a 450 do 120mph without doing massive gearing swaps, out of the box the YZ450F is good for about 80mph. But for offroad riding top speed is mostly irrelevant.
