Amazing! Thank you Jay, Derek and Peter for this great detailed review. Peter is very honest explaining everything.
They actually managed to design an electric car that does not look like another brand and also not “weird and funky because you know it’s electrical”. They also avoid the plastic look of Tesla. Great job indeed 👌
It looks like a Lincoln ie an old man's car. Which is fine.
Looks a heck of a lot better than so many modern cars. Still does absolutely nothing for me.
@@XKS99 I feel like if it was a different color it wouldn't look so old manish 🤣
Wish I could afford one. 😕
It's just a pity that the car doesn't have a large tailgate, it would be much more practical. You can't transport anything larger with this mini door.
"Those of us who have old cars and Duesenbergs and what...." A line that you only get to hear from Jay.
Funny….after watching Jay for years, it’s so easy to read him like a book. He doesn’t give a shyt about EV’s. It’s written in his face, his questions and his responses. I rarely watched the Tonight Show after Johnny left. It wasn’t the same with Jay. But ya know what, he found his calling and THANK GOD for it!!! 👍🏻❤️
i love this ceo from the accent to the passion to the laugh great man
I think it's a beautiful car. It looks stately and spirited at the same time. A game changer perhaps.
This car looks so premium, no part of this car looks cheap. Imagine how nice it feels to drive this car. You would probably feel like a million bucks
The aluminum body could be problematic. the repairs of it are what I mean.. cars are cars and accidents happen. repairing aluminum bodywork is, problematic on a good day.
well I did see another reviewer call it the Lucid Wet Dream instead of the Lucid Air dream....
They knocked it out of the park, congrats to the Lucid team!
It’s a lovely design the way the rear seat area is extended - hard to believe it’s smaller than a Taycan?!
The miniaturized motors are Lucid’s real breakthrough - they didn’t even talk about that!
Geared to 205mph at 20k on the motors - wow!
Good stuff it’s a winner but sooo expensive.
They start with a really expensive flashy car to get people like Jay to talk about them and get the name of the company out there, the cheaper stuff doesnt come until (often way) later. Pretty annoying for the average consumer who can't spend $100k+ on a car but unfortunately the way it is.
@@ashton9699 Indeed. Same business model & strategy employed by Tesla.
I imagine my 2 yr old son will enjoy the magical fruits of those labored. Magnificent future, at least one can hope.
@@ashton9699 That was the idea with Tesla, but their cheapest cars still start at almost 2X the price of the equivalent Toyota - while being less convenient on road trips. The "EV revolution" is mostly hype.
One of the best looking cars ever made.Great job Lucid!
That does look like the most complete EV sedan.
And is a beautiful machine.
Apart from the incredibly laggy UI. No wonder they didn't show it at all in this video.... 😅

I love new car companies when they're doing stuff like this. If i don't ride in one of these before i go i'll be dissapointed. I can tell a lot of people's hearts were poured into this car, it's outstanding.
The CEO is such a likable guy, I’m rooting for him I hope he succeeds
Greedy TSLA copycat looking to cash out after legacy ICE buyout with fake english manners
Wait until the owners have to replace the battery pack! Replacement battery packs are about $20,000!
@@johnnylee8194 How is he a copycat when he designed the Model S?
An Englishman/Brit of course. Fascinating.
I've been watching this marque for a while, and I'm happy they are getting to market. I will be considering this one as my first EV.
I still remember their Edna van prototype
Wow, I want one of these. I'll hold of course until I hear about reliability, but it's actually a good looking car!
And 500+ mile range is a huge win. Still debating though on holding out for solid-state batteries. That'll be a game changer for reliability, stability and less weight, in battery technology.
Solid-state batteries are still a few years away and will be more expensive at first.
Thanks Jay for the great episode! Thoroughly enjoyed watching you have that good, very informative chat with Derek and Peter about their design and engineering of the new Lucid Air EV. (It's like seating at the backseat and listening-in to a couple of "uncles" who made their mark in their respective fields, in their car-talk.) I wish them and their company much success. Also proud that almost everything is designed and built in-house, in AZ. If only Lucid Air were more affordable, but your books and videos do help regular guys like me live the “dream”. Thanks for sharing your joys!
I love how down-to-earth he is and how comfortably he endorses other companies rather than simply over-advertising his brainchild
But not down to earth prices. Nice design though and interior too.
@@zeniktorres4320 not vegan crossfitter either… what a bummer…

@@zeniktorres4320 that cheap front looks like Saturn.
Yeah agree. That's super cool of him. Shows how confident he is in Lucid.
I can’t wait to own a Lucid one day 🔥
I can't wait to BE lucid one day! 🤪
I'm already part of the company LCID.
Mr. Rawlinson sure seems like a pleasant fellow. Much respect to him for giving kudos to Tesla, GM, and Ford as well.
Yess! This guy has a high level of social intelligence as well! 🙌🏻
If Mid-Century Modern Design had a Vehicle to represent it, this would be it. It is so well thought-out and will prove to be timeless with uncomplicated details that add visual length and width to emphasize it's stance. It manages to remain aerodynamically efficient by using some clever tricks that do not compromise the form and proportions like the EQS which needs to use graphic elements to hide the odd shape of the vehicle necessary in achieving it's CD. They have the right blend of touch and tactile controls and still remain future-forward in aesthetics without looking gimmicky. Well deserved recognition and I am curious about Gravity and future smaller segment crossover and sedan models.
thoughtful comment!
MCM is insulted.
@@krusher74 Those material choices feel pretty MCM and thankfully no piano black trim pieces anywhere inside.
As for MCM, the "Air" badge alone is a cool design cue.
Lucid stock will double in 24 hours now. Thanks, Jay!

@@greatestinspirationalvideo9368 it probably will go down on wednesday and then work it's way backup, just like when the last lockup expired. I think that will be more due to day traders than the PIF getting out. All indicators are that the Saudis are in for the long haul. It would be reasonable to expect them to take some profits, tho. I just love these. No music, just talk. Easy, slow pace. Well, I'm 41.
