Power is nothing without control. That statement holds true for many things including EVs. Masterful work you all have done. I wish my classes in school were this well taught.

This is so impressive how Lucid presents their technology. I wished everyone did this. Very interesting
Tesla wont tell you jack
They dont... They just gave you the a glimpse of the fundamentals of electric machines, power electronics and so on. any electrical engineering 2nd year student already knows about what he talked about

An amazing talk. The combination of verbal, sketched & animated visuals are superb. Wish I'd had this at school.
Awesome! I would love to see some high volume manufacturing of your motors and inverters which would allow them be used for more applications.
The factory expansion for that increased production is ongoing today.
because: QUALITY NOT QUANTITY.
the confidence to do an in depth tech talks speaks volumes. Lucid has the best tech for EVs bar none. It's like every single thing was meant to one up Tesla
Danke Eric, exzellent präsentiert.
Great Work Team Lucid!!
I love these talks…
Electrifying experience watching these videos! Keep them coming
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO JOHN REED TOGETHER AS ONE LUCID✨️ FAMILY ❤🙋♂️🥳🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉😁👏👏🕺🕺🕺
I was very surprised that the motor cooling oil and inverter cooling oil are used and controlled at the same time. This is one of the secrets of the high efficiency achieved by the Lucid team.
Thanks so much for this video. I enjoy learning from these tech talks especially Peter's battery one. Please more of these!
sehr interessant. nun interessiert mich noch welche aussergewöhnliche Kühlflüssigkeit über Dauer die Mikrokanäle frei hält.
It was tremendously exciting
This is why you learn trigonometry at school kids!! Inverters are all about sin and cos!
you're gonna need these tech in deserts
I'm so glad I own a Lucid Air, what a fantastic and elegant engineering achievement.
It is perfect that Tech Talk videos each start with a discussion of fundamentals before diving into the good stuff. Now I am very curious to see inside the heat exchanger and the mysterious coolant control device, but not so curious that I would take a band saw to the inverters of my amazing Air GT.

Incredible engineering. Keep up the the great work.
Thanks for the video.......please make small vehicles under $40,000
I was captivated by this tech talk.
Fascinating
Lucid great! hope you will survive!
love tech talks
I'm in love with inovatiooonnnnnnn😍😍
I really like that all the individual pieces themselves are integrated extremely well, but also modular in a way that makes repairs and maintenance in the future fairly easy and straightforward. It's also nondestructive and easily reversible - something that's NOT possible in other motor designs.
Thank You Eric Bach, Sie haben ganz gut und verständlich alles erklärt. Mein 4 Simester Technische Informatik hat mir geholfen, Ihre Tech Begriffe besser zu Verstehen und zu ergreifen😀😀😀😀
Remarkable presentation, with great articulation and content. Very engaging.
Lucid has great tech. As an LCID shareholder I'm looking forward to seeing Lucid vehicles in the UK.
Other car companies need to watch this video and learn :-D
Tech Talks are the best!!!
This cooling plate is just art. Well done
Thanks for this excellent describing greetings from Germany :)
The design and implementation is a work of art. Very clear that this is not a coincidence but intentional work of good management and choosing the right people to do their best work without a fear based culture. This video is yet another demonstration that you can design, manufacture and deliver a next generation EV. My hats off on this intelligent design, it makes other EV’s primitive at best for the challenges that ev’s have to overcome day in and day out between human error, road hazards and Elon’s ego
another good episode in Lucid series, these videos not only showed us how Lucid engineering team approached different problems but more impressive is the high level vision set forth on principle in dealing with various trade offs. It adds another level of appreciation and pride as an owner of Lucid ev. Thank you and Keep it coming.

Great video. I love these presentations. I wish the gravity was available and I feel the spec is going to be great.
Nice presentation yes.... but this company is headed for bankruptcy. Hopefully their owners, the Saudis, buy the rest of it soon. I think they are waiting for the share price to hit rock bottom.
Thank for the video 👍🏻✌🏻
Amazing Tech Lucid . 🎉🎉
With greater power, comes the need for greater respo- precision.
Nice detail for that seal and the motor housing!
Wonderfully delivered
Unbelievably well explained, well done!
Very well done. Super impressive. Is it a pin fin design to cool the SiC chips?
Amazing tech talks @Lucid !
Keep em coming. These fantastical engineering marvels need all the outreach they can get.
Super composed oratory @EricBach !
Thanks Eric for the impressive explanations. Like all the other tech talks from Lucid Motors highly appreciated
I appreciate your videos broadening the knowledge publicly available to consumers. They are very nicely put together and offer the building blocks that allow people learn without feeling put off/excluded. As a design engineer working within EV I have a lot of respect for Lucid Motors, I have a slight irritation at the suggestion that these are 'lucid air' innovations, but many of the technologies being harnessed are currently only used in very high performance/low volume vehicles. It's no less of a challenge to take the number of components required to make these products into production scales that make a profitable product.
I wish you the greatest of luck and selfishly too, the market has a lot of room for growth and the success of any one pushing these technologies will always benefit the many, allowing the market as a whole to perform better.
Satisfied Tesla owner here. I've test driven the Lucid. It is a great product. Tesla finally has quality competition.
Thank you so much. It's a very interesting video.
I love the motor technology in Lucids. As soon as their software/user experience catches up to Tesla I'm jumping ship. (Also auto open/close doors)
Learned more in this half hour than during entire semesters at school
Love these tech talks, keep them coming… you may just convert me yet!
Brilliant technical information, thank you Eric and congratulations on your spectacular innovation and amazing achievements in brining this vehicle to life...and to an appreciative market.
That was one of the best educational videos on motors and drives. It was beautiful and informative.
such detailed tech
this was a really good explanation of the workings of an esc or inverter. it took me a long time and a lot of testing to figure some of this info out before I knew this video existed since very few other sources online actually tell you how the throttle is varied and how a sin wave is produced without losing much energy.
We need a tech talk on transmission as well.
Y’all should make an economy version so more people would buy a lucid, growing the company to bring head on with Tesla.
I was really impressed with how you made such a great power train unit and i have never seen a company share their technology with a very nice explanation thanks a lot Lusid ❤
Wow! That's what you call a tech talk!
Very good explanation!!
I am totally fascinated with tech talk👌
Great work
Really great presentation and engineering. I am curious on the MTBF curves on the e-drive systems? It seems allot of friction with the regen etc.
Thank you for doing these. Now how about putting NACS charge ports on the cars?
Good vibes ! Great project!!😊
Wow
Hope their new SUV does well. Looks fantastic.
The best thing about this..
This guy looks like Tesla’s brother. Even rocks the ‘tache.
0:15 - good idea, me thinks I'll pay a visit to your location over in Short Hills (NJ) this weekend.
The video looks fantastic, but I have some questions I'm curious about:
Does each gate driver IC drive two parallel modules? Does it cause any issues in terms of module control and protection? Can different gate responses be obtained in different thermal conditions, and how much difference does it create in switching or conduction losses?
Another question is regarding the gate driver board. It shows two gate drivers. If the transformers visible in the video are for an isolated supply, then where is the third gate driver and isolated supply located? I got a bit confused about this.
Fantastic! Why 3 phase? not 4-5-6? too complex and not enough benefit?
How do you use the motor's rotor as an inductor for the inverter?
Lucid needs to now do the same thing they did designing the Air for a Model Y sized vehicle.
Awesome presentation!!! Incredible engineering!!! Now it's time to start mass-producing and marketing EVs so at the very least I can break even on my investment...
Woow when will they go in to british market does anyone know?
👍
I am glad to watch this as an investor of your stock. I am hopeful for your future.
By far the best electric car on the market.
Does the Lucid have an option for power opening doors all 4?
Do you use waterless coolant?
Great car, but out of my price range. It would be nice if you could get the production volume up and be able to reduce the unit production cost, so more people could enjoy driving your car.
Great company of engineers looking for work together.
Interesting video lucid puts out,its kind of going to school science class 👍LOL
Beautiful car! Can you make a more affordable version? That will sell like hotcakes 🥞
I can’t figure out why they wouldn’t
Lucid has the best inverter and motor drive unit in the industry andI wish you'd sell the drive unit as components for my Porsche EV conversion project.
빨리 자율주행 소프트웨어 투자하자
If people can afford and apply the car it represent to be a new technology. If people cannot afford it, it just a concept
How much of the efficiency losses are induction losses from switching high voltage?
I have a solution to reduce that.
However, how does the Lucid technology compare against Tesla, KIA/Hyundia and BYD ?
Smart move. This way, they could say that they innovated highly efficient power control knowing competitors will emulate or even copy, sooner or later.
Is it possible to run thousands of volts for silicon carbide? Example MOSFETs in series? If so it would be even more efficient system. Also why doesn't lucid use axial flux motors where the efficiency is far better power to weight?
I hope Lucid moves fast and adopts the NACS charging standard for their Lucid Gravity next year. Having access to the Tesla charging network will go a long way in making their cars more desirable. Having better range doesn't mean much if you are still stuck using more unreliable CCS charging stations. It also needs to have a heat pump that is on par with Tesla's so they have better range performance in colder environments.
Good video, make affordable like hyundai kia etc.
nice voice
Why can't the motor function on DC energy and it needs the inverter?
