    I don't know the Elva was originally a McLaren design. Neat. I've seen an original street example at the Carlisle Import show a couple of times.
    My first thought when I saw this car was, "the designers were Speed Racer fans..."
    If McLaren thinks cars need to be geared more towards the driving experience, maybe we'll see the return of a manual transmission. Maybe... One can hope.

    • @M3PH11
      @M3PH11 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing about manual transmissions is that they are slow. Do you like being slow? Coz i don't. I like being fast and if a dual clutch or a modern auto is faster then that's what i'm ordering.
      I do find that people like yourself that do want the return of the manual are usually scared by change and have no idea what they are talking about. Mostly coz they are slow.

      @@M3PH11 It's not about being _fast,_ it's about being _connected._ You will NEVER have the same visceral driving experience with a car that doesn't have a manual trans. As others have said, you get going on a twisty, technical mountain road where you are making upshifts and downshifts and feeling every release of the clutch give you another growl from the engine, and it makes even the fastest tap shift or auto feel boring. I've been fortunate enough to drive a lot of very high end cars, and I would absolutely own something like a 720S or a 488 Pista, but a lower HP manual trans car is just plain and simple more _fun._

I don't really understand why some designers want to get rid of windscreens, though. I think this car would look just as good with a low, wrap-around windscreen (think Speed Racer's Mach 5)---- which would be very expensive to manufacture with no optical distortion, and still be very exotic as well as practical. And as long as I'm day-dreaming, why not eliminate the instrument pod and put in a fighter-inspired HUD (those things obviously have to be legible in bright sunlight!) to give as unobscured view ahead as possible?
