I have a male canary that is 2 years old, and I got a new female canary that will be 7 or 8 months old next month, I'm wondering if it is okay to house them together when she gets to that age? or should i keep them apart as I'm doing right now till she is older? will the male bully the younger bird? or be okay with her? I'm planning to breed them eventually when she is old enough, but would like to begin to house them together next month ( March )
Hi my breeding pair got bird mites and all the babies died because of bird mites. I got bitten by them too. My bird scratching themselves to remove the bird mites but it don’t help them. Can you give some tips how can I kill the bird mites ?

The white one I bought from a local breeder that was retiring from birds. I have seen cages similar to these on Amazon a few times. But I’m not sure who specifically makes these cages.

Do you use any kind of mite control/prevention in your cages?
I clean my cages with soap and water. I also treat my birds with 5s and scat. Before breeding I will clean the nest boxes with mite spray.

I would keep them separate. Canaries do better by themselves and only
Together during breeding.

It helps when they can see each other but is not necessary. As long as they can Hear each other that would help.

The vendor has stopped selling these nests since COVID. I am currently looking for other vendors.

I treat my birds, cages, and nest boxes with mite control sprays to help prevent them.

I believe it’s called a double side mutation or something like that.
I would pair him up with a red head female if you can.
