    Hi Chris what sort of canaries have you? Are you selecting birds for colour or shape etc? How old are your birds and do you have an age limit for breeding stock?

    I love seeing your canaries, I’d love to join the aviculture hobby. I especially love softbills, and I haven’t seen much focus on them on TH-cam in general. A video on the history of canary/finch keeping would be interesting, if that interests you!
    I have a question- are you primarily a hobbyist, or is bird breeding a primary source of income for you? I’m just curious!

    I forgot the thingy that separates the canaries at my grandpa's.I used a carton and made holes the same shape as the cage, they are good enough so that the birds see each other but I can say the original one has about 40% more clearance. Do you think its enough?

    UPDATE: I’ve been observing my male canary try to feed my female canary. However, every time he attempts to feed her my hen tries to bite him with her beak. He has also tried to mount her but she doesn’t let herself. I’ve been feeding them egg food since I got them in February! Is there anything I can do to get my hen conditioned for breeding???

    How to breed this type of bird for commercial without issue? The problem is that we have this bird is dying immediately after hatching, the mom not feeding the babies and the babies are dying. What is the reason why the mom not feeding the babies and leaving the babies to die?

      It could be that she is calcium deficient and her eggs are this and are breaking easily. Make sure she has calcium bone at all times. It probably would help to add some liquid calcium a couple times a week while she’s laying her eggs.

I putted him back and he was acting fine like he is supposed feeding the mom and the chick(only one the other fertile egg fall of my hand while checking cause i didn't had faith)

    When I bought my red factor canaries . Male and female I was told to feed them abba red food for color, abba green veggie food, canary seed, egg food, song food. Daily. Is this right? Also, was told they can all live together . Read that canaries should live alone because one day I will find one of them dead. That did happen with my female of one pair. I think I was misinformed by my bird store. My female was looking terrible until I delegated her from the male. Her feathers are growing back now but no wing feathers or tail feathers. My male that lost his mate never sang since I bought him. I’ve put on canary singing training videos for them to listen to. No singing from him ever. Just a chirp. I think I have been very misinformed by the store I bought my birds from.

    How much privacy do canaries and gouldians need to breed and raise their clutch? Can they be raised in a family room/bedroom or do they need a private location? If they are in a family room, can you cover part of the cage to give them enough privacy to breed? I like having them in a location so that they can be enjoyed, but would also like to breed them.

    • @ariskaitamialastakagela9187
      @ariskaitamialastakagela9187 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok so it all depends on how much the canaries feel safe near you and stuff, canaries are really calm animals tho. You can easily breed inside house as long as the place where the nest is, is "safe" enough (no children scaring the birds). I would suggest putting them in a high place cause they like that and feel less scarier. In my opinion a 2-3 meter "safezone" where you can stay (again it depends on how much they feel safe). I know for instance friends that are breeding inside their houses
      Feel free to ask me anything you want!😀

Maybe need to search more articles to be sure( I will make my own research nobody knows everything). I have had lots of chicks. Many times I was sure one or two of them were males it's just the way they behave. Either way you will find the gender one way or the other😀!
