I love seeing videos like this its great to see you know your stuff when it comes to gaming it makes your other videos about "call outs" and other observation you make on the community more legitimate 👍
I actually decided to just buy a Japanese gb player disc since I was doing a region mod anyways. At least for a while, you could get a brand new Japanese disc CIB for $25 or so. The menu will be in Japanese obviously but it's not hard to navigate, and is only used for menial things like the border.
Great video man! First time ive heard you use a script so it took a little bit to get used to your voice, but this is solid. Makes me want to try it! I do all GC gaming using nintendont on ny wii u but OG hardware is Lways better.
Thanks for the comment. I was hoping to help someone out. I noticed some games didn’t work with the reset. Just downloading from a different site would fix the issue. I have all my resets currently working
In regards to your ending point. I want to use my physical games, I own them after all. More specifically, my GBA games. Gotta do that on the Gamecube! I want to do this mod just to use the Gameboy Interface, or GBI. It's a better utility than the GB Player disk.
Yeah, the GBI is better overall, but is always good to know that there is that option for whatever situation requieres it, once I get my GC Loader (or rather... once it arrives, along with a SD2SP2), I'll get the rest of the stuff to have the best possible GCN setup (for instance in my case is getting the GB Player... I don't care if the boot disk is not there once I get it, because for now, excluding GBA and GBC, the best way to play GB games is using my SD2SNES/FXPak PRO with the Super Game Boy enabled firmware, to make it possible to run the GB and GBC with GB support roms with real hardware)
So cool, yet i don't want it for the dumbest reason: I won't get the nostalgia of the GameCube start up logo when i boot it up... However it is smart to do this because i know these discs only have so much life in them before they stop reading.
@@HollowRick i love PS2 emulation but there is a couple games that do need abit more work but its much more doable now wish is great but having a PS2 mod would be amazing and would also help keep the systems alive
@@REALAsSaSiN01 I believe so. The site is called Vimms Lair. I usually Google what I told you cause I always forget the came. It has a lot of systems. It does have gameboy.
Another question: with the mod installed, can I still use a regular memory card? Since I have a lot of save data and would prefer not to have to replay all the games from the start.
So I’m reading the previous comments and it seems this came back in stock about 3 months ago. Does anyone know if it has been coming back in stock regularly. I’m willing to be patient but don’t want to hold on to false hope. I see a bunch of GC Loader clones on eBay but am hesitant to purchase blindly. Anyone have thoughts on this?
Heres a heads up the gameboy player software is trash you want download the gameboy interface "GBI" it get rid of the issues of the original software such as stuttering input lag and Soft filter
Thanks man. I had the gbi on it , but it made the interface a little messy with the extra files. For this video, I left it out. Plus that was a small tutorial on its own, but I saved it on my desk top. Lol. I’ll give the gbi a shot. Thanks man.
i cant get snes9x to work with sd2sp2 and gcloader... i tried everything snes9x wont see the sd card after booting, it gets stuck on "loading disc" ad if it does go through it will not see the sd card or create any file structures... help
if only people made all these cool mods when the consoles were released imagine not having to spend all that money on the games just buy sd cards and download the roms off the net lol
SD2SP2, is running the games fine with actionreplay disk. what is the advantage of gcloader card?! everything runs fine! I almost bought gcloader today but everytime I am about to buy it I ask myself why not just stick to SD2SP2. can you make video about that comparison please. and what is the diffrence between GC loader Lite and PNP?
The GCLoader PNP is the only one that is available (when it is), it require zero soldering, it connects to the same port as the dvd drive. GCLoader Lite is a fake product that does not work: www.retrorgb.com/beware-of-fake-gcloaders.html The GCLoader replaces the dvd drive, say the laser in the gamecube does not work any more, this is a good replacement. If you want to save the dvd drive, its a good solution.
Yeah. It scared me too. Lol. I was scared, I thought the expensive Eon adapter was the safer route cause it has a tighter fit using both ports. After researching, I found out the guy who made that early version messed up on his design and didn’t have isolated pins. The carby is safe and cheaper.
Game data saves on your memory card. Your Gamecube still works normal. Not sure if you can save games to sdsp2. Sdsp2 only saves your settings in Swiss I believe. .
My laser bear tray was lost in the mail :*( I'm hoping they replace it for me. I'm just waiting on my eon and sd2 and I'll be all set. Got my loader in the mail today! I have a modded wii and wiiu , but playing gamecube on the gamecube like you said OG hardware.
Heck yeah. You’ll have a great time with the system. I hope they replace it. Awesome you got the loader. I know there was issues with placing orders. Awesome !
@@OverThinkGaming Yeah, I saw the twitter when it was going live so I waited hitting refresh often. The gc-loader main website crashed, but I got it from black dog tech. I'm really happy to have snagged one, it's getting harder and harder. The scalpers are getting ferocious too, anything with gaming now they snag up to resell. I'm looking forward to finally playing my cube in HD and have all my games loaded up.
Dude why using the official Gameboy Player software since you have Swiss you can use GBI with Swiss (Gameboy Interface) which is a homebrew software for the Gameboy Player which is WAY better then the official Gameboy Player software
Yeah, thought I mentioned it in the video. I have the GBI files and tested it out. Didn’t want to show it in the video cause i was trying to make the install as simple as possible. Thanks man
It’s a tutorial. Not a review. Not something I’ll normally put on my channel, but it’s a passion project. I spoke slow so people could understand me. I mumble a lot. Yes. It’s scripted. Didn’t want to miss important steps.
Quick question, I bought the gc loader last week, hooked it up and now I’m playing games. The problem is I can’t save games. Will it work to buy a GameCube memory card and slot it in, or do I have to get the micro SD chip?
Great video, explained everything super easy. Now I've just got to sit tight and wait for GCLoaders to come back in stock
They are in stock right now if you havent got one yet.
Had to watch a bunch of videos before finding this one which finally explained what I needed to know and how to do it! THANK YOU!

Nice man, seems like a really good set up you've got there, especially with the GB Player, that disc can be pricey.

Thank you for that Reset tip! I was wondering if such a thing existed, and turning the console off and on just to get to the menu was annoying.

Super easy to follow that install looked so easy, thx!
Thanks dude. Yes, it’s really easy to do.
Didn't realize it was region free. Definitely shelling out the cash for this.
Bring back the Classic Overthink Gaming intro. For nostalgia. =)
Lol. I still have that one. That’s so awesome you remember. I have to use it as a throwback someday.
The GC Loader is region free but you will need a switch if you are planning to use your American memory cards as those are formated differently
I would like a mode for N64. This video was great 👍🏻 keep it up OTG
Thanks man!!!

You can even play GC on your phone via the GC emulator and GC controller but nothing beats the feeling of having the console infront of you.

So if you use the SD card mount, you DON'T need an SD gecko, correct? Just wanna make sure so I don't buy one unnecessarily.
So gecko only saves Swiss settings. All saves are in the memory card as normal.
Mine displays everything widescreen how do I change that?
Do you have to do anything special to get games to save to the sd2sp2 or when you save a game the data will instantly go there?
