Love your style brother. You forgot to show having to desolder the fan wires because you forgot to put the heat shrink tubing on first lol. The only reason I mention that is because I do it at least once every project. Thanks for the insight and great content. Rock on!
Hey Voultar! Quick question. What is the diameter of the white wire you use for soldering into chip legs. Because i got myself a ribbon cable but its way to big and multi filament. So i was wondering which single core wire should i use. It is specifically to install a modbo into a ps2. Thank you!
The 3d printed fan bracket actually made my power button a little finicky, and I went back to the stock fan. The button would sometimes not click down all the way and keep the power on. You ever encounter that? Felt like it wasn't the *exact* height it needed to be.
I had this issue as well, but after playing around with the screw I got it working fine. For me it was the screw wasn't all the way down into the housing so the button wouldn't reliably stay clicked, but after getting it fully tightened it's working great!
Great video subbed because it's awesome to modd gamecubes! The only thing this needs is a ez flash omega gba cartridge to be perfect 100% do you recommend those component cables? Great video!
Is there significant difference between the Carby and Eon? I'm using the Carby now. Looking at reasons for modification for the casual gamer who doesn't stream.
I use a GC Video hooked to a Samsung 4k TV that handles 480p quite well with no lag in Game mode. White levels on the GBP were a bit blown out at first but setting Hdmi White to "low" fixed that.
Question: at 3:30, you plug that little adapter into the analog av out, not the other digital av out (which I believe is the one that worked with Nintendo's component cable); being that that little adapter and so the Wii component cable could be plugged in to the analog av out, would the GC Dual work on a DOL-101, or would I absolutely have to get a DOL-001?
I remember for the Dreamcast mod, you had to modify the power supply when you replaced the optical drive. Was that kind of mod not necessary for the game cube?
There no 12 volt load on the DC when you install a ODE, so a mod to disable the unused 12 volt rail or putting in a 12 volt load resistor is necessary. There is still something putting a 12 volt load on the GC, something other than the Drive is still running on the 12 volt line (the Fan most likely).
You don't HAVE to do that mod to the psu on the dreamcast. It just reduces the heat that the psu makes. If you ever plan on putting the optical drive back into your dreamcast you can leave it in there. I left mine in, I also have the noctua fan mod and it runs plenty cool enough.
Random question what’s the electric precision screwdriver your always using? I keep buying battery powered crap from Amazon and they just don’t last. Great video as always. Guess it’s time to get rid of my Xeno chip I did years ago.

Can anyone tell me what the TRRT Podcast is? That's an acronym right? I googled TRRT and checked YT but I'm not finding anything. I don't know what TRRT stands for and I want to watch the GCHD discussion. I cannot find any information on what TRRT stands for in this context even while searching other related terms.
Took out my GC from storage after watching this video. I have a Qoob Pro modchip installed in it running firmware 1.3c. Unfortunately, the laser is not reading discs, so I need to tear it down and measure the resistance on the laser potentiometer and make some adjustments.
lol watching this again i guess, didn't notice you use the mechanical solder pump this time, you never see you use that, but hey, makes me feel good for having one even though i'm getting a vaccume desoldering pump soon
The Wii also cannot output HDMI with an internal hardware mod (it can be done but it involves soldering on the motherboard). The Gamecube doesn't need any mods, all you do is plug it into the digital port in the back. The Eon is also the worst HDMI adapter for the Gamecube. The Carby is the best one.
The reason the Carby wasn't brought up is because it lacks component out for CRT use unlike the eon. That isn't to say I recommend the eon over the carby. I still think its a cheaply made overpriced adapter.
@@ians_parks Yeah that's the reason I can't stand the Eon. It's cheaply made, while being way overpriced compared to the others. I don't care about component out...I have no use for analog video outputs. The purpose of it is to output HDMI after all. If you're after component, there are third party component cables that aren't nearly as expensive as the unreleased-in-the-US Nintendo ones. You could probably get a Carby and component cables for less than the Eon.
@@StormsparkPegasus If you're looking for a purely digital solution than yeah, whole heartedly recommend the Carby, I'm sure Voultar is of the same mindset. Some people however do want dual output options. The eon allows you to game on a CRT via component while also streaming via hdmi. There's also the people who want to connect their gamecube to their new retrotink5x like me, so that they can scale to 1440p. The oem gamecube component cables are still too expensive and Insurrection Industries component version of the carby has ended production with them only alluding to potentially producing more in the future but nothing really definitive. To my knowledge these are the only alternative component cables produced for the gamecube. Right now I'm basically just waiting and hoping theyll actually do another run. Eon certainly isnt getting my money.
Our lord flawless as always. I know maybe it's hard work but can you put the tracks you use for your videos in the description? Some fine songs right there.

@@omfgyu ah thanks. I'll try messing with it the next time I'm opening up the gamecube.
I also had this issue, I trimmed the button down till it was perfect 👌
Great video subbed because it's awesome to modd gamecubes! The only thing this needs is a ez flash omega gba cartridge to be perfect 100% do you recommend those component cables? Great video!
Is there significant difference between the Carby and Eon? I'm using the Carby now. Looking at reasons for modification for the casual gamer who doesn't stream.
The Carby has vastly superior build quality. If I were only interested in digital video, that's the P&P unit that I'd be using!
I use a GC Video hooked to a Samsung 4k TV that handles 480p quite well with no lag in Game mode. White levels on the GBP were a bit blown out at first but setting Hdmi White to "low" fixed that.

God, I loved the music in Ty the Tasmanian Tiger!
Anyone know where I can grab that Wii component cable adapter dongle? Appears to no longer be in production from what I can tell.
31:21 wtf lol
You are a absolute legend.
So peaceful and quiet...........
9:32 solder hardens that quickly?
+1 would be interested in picking up that setup, i wanted to get one of those electronic screwdrivers on amazon but im not surprised to hear theyre crap lol
Back to save us again. LORD VOULTAR
The GameCube is a system I always wanted. Just because of star wars...games...I want one soo bad...
The Retro Round Table.
What do you think of the Insurrection Industries Carby adapter? It's about have the price of the Eon adapter.
Took out my GC from storage after watching this video. I have a Qoob Pro modchip installed in it running firmware 1.3c. Unfortunately, the laser is not reading discs, so I need to tear it down and measure the resistance on the laser potentiometer and make some adjustments.
Love to see so well done mods, thanks for sharing all this knowledge with us. Just a question, what type and size of conductors did you use it?
lol watching this again i guess, didn't notice you use the mechanical solder pump this time, you never see you use that, but hey, makes me feel good for having one even though i'm getting a vaccume desoldering pump soon
@@ians_parks Oh yeah, the OEM component cables are horrifically overpriced, I just thought there was a much cheaper third party solution.
@@ians_parks I'm sure you already know, but Retrobit now sells GC component cables for roughly $60!
Are you still using the T12 Ksger soldering Station?
Our lord flawless as always. I know maybe it's hard work but can you put the tracks you use for your videos in the description? Some fine songs right there.
I love watching solder wet/flow!
How do you get those solder bead to flow so beautifully.
Awesome video! What temp do you set for your iron? I have a Weller WES51 that I'm going to get knife, bend, and Chisel tips for after watching your videos. The one it comes with does not do the job.
I have one of the KSGER T12 stations and I use J tips a lot as well as chisel and knife tips for certain jobs. I usually have mine set to 300-350° C
@@legoboy-ox2kx Thanks for the tip. That KSGER T12 really looks tempting. I'd definitely buy one if I didn't already have my weller.
15:27 - 15:34
Hey! It's that one guy from...whaddya call it? FingerItOut Productions?
I have ZERO issues with my EON Mk-II. It seats perfectly, and it's awesome. I can output dual video on it.
