I never understood why DC didn't jump on Marvel's bandwagon and made their own counterpart to the MCU. Considering how popular it was before Disney suddenly decided to ruin it. It could have rivaled the MCU, and maybe even been better if done correctly. I love Marvel, but I like DC even more. Green Lantern is my all times favorite Superhero and I would love to see him (Hal Jordan specifically), as well as the other Lantern Corps in a movie series/TV Show.
Here is hoping we get that one day.

Honestly, it baffles me why Warner Brothers doesn't trust the creatives to make good adaptations of these characters. James Gunn seems to be the only one they are letting do this, but talented creators get their power taken away from them. Zack Snyder (despite his lack of understanding of these characters) at least had a vision, and WB took it from him. People like Matthew Vaughn and Christopher McQuarrie wanted to make a Superman movie, and WB didn't let them. These are also people that forced Batman to go from dark and serious to light and goofy in the 1990s.
People like The Black Lion, Super Frame, and now myself gave our own takes because we're tired of that. I wanted to have my own MCU based on the characters I know, actively study and read about, and freaking love, hence why I wrote this massive plan.
Also, I'm a big fan of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, as well as Green Lantern First Flight in regards to Hal Jordan, but I'm a bigger John Stewart fan (especially because of Justice League: The Animated Series). I'm excited to see Hal and John be foil characters to one another in the Lanterns show.

I love Marvel and DC equally and it saddens me that DC hasn't had luck in the cinematic universe department. DC is full of amazing stories and brilliant characters and it sucks Warner Brothers can't give us a good DC Cinematic Universe.

    Here's some ideas(just barebones):
    1) Batman:Gangs War.Batman investigates a series of murders related to the major crimes families of Gotham.
Villains:The Penguin, Victor Zsasz,The Falcone and Maroni families(those 2 are also victims).
Difference from other movies:At the end of the movie,Bruce adopts a young Helena Bertilini and as the movie progresses, the batcave gets even more upgraded until it looks like a modern one(without the trophies from the villains).
    2) Superman:Of Metropolis.
Superman fights Cadmus and protects Doctor Emil Hamilton, while trying to find out who he really is from the few informations left in his ship.
Villains:Cadmus, specifily John Corben in his kryptonite powered Super suit,Metallo and Lionel Luthor.
Differences:Lois doesn't like Clark because she sees him as naive.Lois is a cynical kinda veteran in the News reportering business and hates Vickie Vale's guts.
Emil Hamilton made the Metallo armor, which was damaged by Kryptonite, making like a nuclear bomb suit.He tries to escape to warn others about it.
(Thats all i have for now, since its night for me and im tired.Ill come back tomorrow to continue)

    • @petrenicolae3282
      @petrenicolae3282 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      4) Aquaman:The call of the sea.
Arthur Curry(played by Ryan Gosling) goes with his daily routine, while trying to recall the strange dreams he keeps having. He works at the lighthouse of Amnesty bay, guiding ships, one day, seeing a bleeding red haired woman on the shore. He goes down to help her,and takes her inside to treat her wounds, all the while a monstrous being whatches from under the sea, knowing that he can't step on land.
Villains:Orm Marius(not yet Ocean master,he plans to kill both of his parents to take on the throne, the half brother of Arthur),Charybdis(Both he and his wife Scylla were supposed to capture Mera,so she doesn't ruin Orm's plans.Scylla dies in battle against her and Charybdis wants to avenge his dead wife by killing Mera).
Mid-credit scene: Arthur saves a cruise ship, one of the passagers calls him Aquaman.
Post-credit scene:A certain merceny gets a job from a caged bird.

The original plan for Batman would’ve been about seven films, but I chose to shorten it to just four because we need more time with the other characters.

To understand how to create a universe for DC, we need to understand the nature of DC comics and how it differs from Marvel. First, what is Marvel?
Marvel is a 1960s scifi, retrofuturist world built by 3 guys: Ditko, Kirby, and Lee. Marvel characters are highly individual and follow an unspoken rule: real people, weird powers, hard times. Exceptions exist, but you’ll find most Marvel characters meet these criteria.
The marvel universe is coherent in theme and tone. There are consistent hierarchies of power, and characters are created with the existence of other characters kept in mind.
Also, being 1960s scifi, it is a great vehicle for social commentary, which makes the stories interesting and marketable.
    Okay, so what’s DC?
DC is an amalgam of companies/characters DC bought, then smushed into a comic world stew. The DC characters are vague. They’re collages of ideas endlessly open to interpretation and redefinition. Exceptions exist, but you’ll find most DC characters are like this.
The DC universe is incoherent in theme, tone, and structure. Depending on the era, characters act in totally different ways to how we would understand them today.
It’s not clear how big forces/groups/concepts in DC comics interact. Writers like Grant Morrison have made attempts to post-hoc a permanent, distinct structure for the universe, but these efforts inevitably fail:
Eventually, the next reboot comes around, and new writers discard or cherry-pick the elements they like/don’t like, and that becomes the new cannon.
Now it’s easier to understand why DC fails when Marvel succeeds. The artists behind the MCU have a well-spring of deeply compelling characters they can draw on and use in new stories forever. The plots they come up with are less important because it’s the characters that attract audiences. The people making the DC films (Now Gunn) do not have this advantage. People will come out for Batman, but most DC characters are so vague that when an artist wants to create a new story with them, they have to reinvent that character every time.
This is a problem because A: reinvention is considerably harder as an artistic task than adaptation, so the likelihood of failure is higher, and B: the new version of the character becomes inextricably tied to the artist that created it (notice it’s “Nolan’s Batman”). This means future artists can’t easily draw on cool elements and ideas from past interpretations, because they wouldn’t be adapting a character so much as copying another artist.
Despite these drawbacks, DC has a unique advantage. The DC characters are vague and shallow - they aren’t anything. But, because most DC characters aren’t anything, this means they can be anything. This is why the most iconic stories belong to DC: Watchmen, DKR, All Star Superman, Kingdom Come, Sandman, Flashpoint, etc.
These are elsworlds stories defined by the artists who created them as opposed to being serious adaptations of source material.
DC will hire the best creative talent in the industry and let them do basically whatever they want. When talented creatives have fewer obnoxious barriers (follow this rule, remember this lore fact, this character must act like this), it is easier for them to succeed.
This is what happened with Watchmen. Moore did whatever he wanted with his versions of DC’s newly purchased characters.
Marvel rarely uses this strategy because their characters are so well-defined. You can just adapt what’s on the page and modernize it. However, because well-defined =/= compelling, Marvel sometimes finds itself in need of a DC-type reinvention.
Thor illustrates this well. In the MCU, Thor and Thor: TDW are accurate interpretations of the character Thor, but Thor did not resonate with audiences in those films as well as he did in Ragnarok.
Why? Well, Marvel did the DC thing. They let Taika Watiti do what he wanted, and he redefined the character in his own unique way. Thor is no longer the stoic, fish-out-of-water, arrogant prince with the noble heart. Now, he’s the quirky, meta-joke cracking bad-ass warrior who struggles with his sense of self and place in the universe. It’s easy to protest this idea of unlimited artistic freedom by pointing to Thor: Love and Thunder. You would be correct in doing so - it clearly it doesn’t always work. In fact, this is DC’s primary flaw and barrier to success in the modern age.
DC overtrusts individual artists with their characters and universe. If you’re a fan, I’m sure you’re aware of this tendency and the fact that it has disastrous consequences for DC’s image, profit, and quality of stories. Yet, for whatever reason, certain executives were sold on a certain pitch, and because certain big names were involved, WB let a certain director who hates traditional superhero storytelling and never directed a superhero film besides a near shot for shot remake of a single story deconstructing them was given the job of telling stories about them.
Love him or hate him, Zack Snyder’s work is deeply divisive and doesn’t generate the public interest you would expect for the characters he’s working with. DC overtrusted an individual artist with representing their universe in film. The same thing happened with Love and Thunder. Marvel committed DC’s most common mistake at a smaller scale. The only difference is it’s easier to forgive Marvel that error because Watiti’s filmography is usually impressive, so after Ragnarok, what reason was there to doubt he could repeat his success?
How can a DC film universe be good?
FIRST: Learn from its history of mistakes. DC needs to to take some lessons from its age old rival and “marvelize” itself. Two ways to do this.
One, enough with the constant vaguery.
Tell us why Kryptonians look like human beings. That doesn’t make sense. Make up your mind about Batman’s identity. Is he a warm paternal figure who leads a family of damaged kids? Is he a brutal vigilante with no mercy for criminals save actually killing them? Is he a mentally ill billionaire with an unhealthy coping mechanism whose delusion stops him from getting psychotherapy? Pick one. Don’t stop at Batman. Give all your characters specific, consistent, full identities and personalities that experience growth and change.
Same with the world. How far is the Green Lantern Corps’ reach? How long ago did Atlantis sink? How many fictional countries are there, and how do they impact the geography of the real ones? Where is Metropolis - Kansas? Delaware? Tell us.
Two, stop putting one person in control of everything. It’s good to have a guiding, Feigie-esque influence overseeing things, but one person’s artistic style should not dictate the tone of the whole universe, nor should they alone decide the story of every major film. There should be a team of talented writers and creatives who work together to craft an engaging narrative; people who work together to tell a larger story.
If you’re up to date with DC news, this should make you optimistic, because this is the approach Gunn and Safran are taking.
SECOND: Learn from Marvel/MCU’s mistakes. Do what Marvel failed to do.
Don’t make endless, corporate crowd-pleasers. Tell a single story with a definitive beginning, middle, and end. No “infinity saga, multiverse saga” and on and on. Just tell one story.
Let your artists do their job. Get your high-profile, talented creatives on board with your writers’ overarching vision of the universe. That way, you strike the balance of giving them artistic freedom while ensuring they conform to a plan.
THIRD: Carve out a unique place for itself.
Go the awards route. Do what Raimi did with his Spider-Man films, or, in other words, what someone like Scorsese would call “cinema” as opposed to a “roller coast ride.”
Pretentious as those comments may sound to some, they contain truth. Why be the DC version of the MCU when you could be the Breaking Bad of cinema?
What stories/films would be in your version of the DC film universe? You can find endless videos from fans who have answered over the last decade. While I respect the dedication, if you listen to the videos, you’ll find these people all say the same things.
What you’ll hear is a derivative pitch that is just a retelling of an existing DC story, a video essay saying: “adapt the Justice League cartoons” or, they'll give a cookie-cutter, MCU-type slate and those films are all adaptations of existing stories. Something they don’t understand, and that we should understand, is that you can’t just tell the same stories over and over again.
A DC film universe can’t just be the DC universe wiki-page acted out on camera, which, if you didn’t know any better, is what you’d assume these fans want. That’s why it’s exhausting to hear complaining about things like Damian being Robin in The Brave and Bold. Don’t you know? We need 2 movies with Dick, then 1 with Jason, then 1 with Tim, and then, maybe we can finally have a movie with Damian. Cause if not, it won’t be exactly like how it is in the comics.
This kind of thinking imposes serious limits on the imagination. What matters are original, creative, smartly written and moving stories that show us brand new things, and things we never expected! If you can tell a story like that where Damian happens to be Robin, that matters more than strict comic accuracy.
And even if that weren’t true, as I explained, the DC universe isn’t specific enough to warrant that kind of fan-obsession with the fictional history and detail anyway.
To even create the plan for a DC film universe, you need multiple skilled writers working in tandem with visual artists, directors and other creatives to sketch out what’s to come. Otherwise, it’s just fanboys playing with imaginary toys.

I went with Diana to start things off by starring in Wonder Woman: Dawn of Justice, a WWII period piece where she's a runaway princess recruited into a team with Dr. Fate, Hawkman, the Atom, and Green Lantern Alan Scott to stop an ambitious Maxwell Lord from taking the reins of the third reich.
An end credits scene would see Clark's ship land on Earth in modern times leading into Superman: Man of Tomorrow opening on Krypton well before its destruction setting up the villain Rogal Zaar who is helped stopped by Lex Luthor, Clark's best pal. Lois Lane will be introduced in the end with Kat Grant playing the proto-love interest of the man of steel.
Bruce Wayne is next in Batman: Gotham Knight as a caped crusader well into his crime-fighting career nearing a bitter end when a hit list cost him Jim Gordon and takes on a copycat out for vengeance against Deadshot in Barbara Gordon as Batgirl.
Post credit is Amanda Waller who we see in this film as an ally (military trained by Alfred) down in the Batcave for an informative scene, recruit Floyd Lawton.
On the list after that would be a Green Lanterns movie centered around Jessica Crews overcoming her fear which also comes in the form of Yellow Lantern Manhunters with Hal Jordon as a mentor through her reluctant introduction to worlds far away from Earth.
The Flash: Fastest Man Alive is Barry Allen but meets the competition in The Rival when he follows Jay Garrick to the future from when they were both thought dead as mentioned in WW.
Aquaman of Atlantis will already see Arthur as King but the outside world discovers his legend through the Challengers of the Unknown causing further unrest despite their goodwill by a surface villain called Marauder unleashing threats from The Trench.
The last of the first 7 films is Suicide Squad: Task Force X. Amanda Waller puts together a new team that has existed before but working with villains like The Joker plays out poorly in Kahndaq so Deadshot, Killer Frost, Thinker, and Bronze Tiger are ordered to kill him. The stinger will be of Harley Quinn and another for the discovered tomb of Black Adam.

For me I will start with Batman, Year one, adapting Jhon Byrne´s Man of Steel miniseries, an origin for Hal Jordan like First Fligh, adaptin George Perez´s Wonder Woman with a few changes to include Donna, after that a retrospective Infinte Inc (to include JSA and a young Ted Kord as a member, I know he never has been, but I think is the perfect place for a kind of Legacy character and of course Star Girl, though I will adapt the time the JSA was lost in the limbo to place Infinite inc in the early 2000 or 2010), I need them an origin Story for Green Arrow and Dinah (also as tje second Black Canary), then a JL movie, followed by Flash, Aquaman and Shazam movies and then a Teen Titans (wher Dick separate from Batman and the debut of Starfire), a Blue beetle movie, a GL adapting the Omega men (Team up with Starfire)

    • @928studiosinc06
      @928studiosinc06  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I could've started fresh with a young Batman and Year One (that was the original idea), but I think that we don't tend to start off with Batman in his prime as he joins the Justice League. It's either he's old and beaten down, or he's around the same age as the others. Making him in his prime and being slightly older and more experienced than Superman, the Flash, Green Lantern, and so on and so forth leads to a lot of interesting interactions. Other than that, your viewpoint of how to adapt these characters is excellent, and I have no complaints.

I am aware of WB's mandates and the money problems with the CW, but it's freaking Warner Brothers at the same time. They can afford to put money into their television division. At the same time, however, their main priority was the movie side of the equation, so I'm not totally surprised.
The New 52 was one of the things I didn't want to pay attention to entirely, because, like I said, it sucks. There are only a few ideas (including an Aquaman sequel which is about war with the Trench), as well as Grodd's connection to the Speed Force, but that's it.
      Thanks for tuning in.

The DCEU could’ve had their cake and eat it if they had been more focused after Man of Steel, like it makes sense that they would want to introduce characters quickly and release a Justice League movie to compete with the MCU and one big advantage they had was that their character were more recognisable.
    The release should have been:
    Man of Steel (2013)
    World’s Finest (2015)
    The Trinity (2016)
    Justice League (2017)
Introducing Batman in the Man of Steel sequel wasn’t a bad idea, we had just finished the Dark Knight trilogy so movie goers had a general idea of what Batman’s about, the problem was trying to make it a Batman vs Superman movie which was a dumb idea only made worse by shoehorning Wonder Woman and the Death of Superman. What the plot should’ve been is that Batman and Superman would have to team up to defeat Lex and the Joker, the movie should’ve focused on the dynamics between the heroes and the villains.
The Trinity would act as a Wonder Woman origin story set in the modern day as Ares plans to throw the world into an eternal war and Wonder Woman joins forces with Batman and Superman to stop him.
And Justice League would be about stopping Darkseid’s invasion with the Trinity recruiting other heroes to help defend the earth.
This is just a basic outline but if the DCEU had followed this basic structure they could’ve easily used it as a foundation to launch solo movies and sequels.
And to be honest they could’ve started a lot sooner if they had the foresight to use Batman Begins and Superman Returns as the foundation of a cinematic universe instead, then they would’ve had plenty of time to introduce each League member in their own sole movie before the crossover event with the Justice League and could’ve actually beaten Marvel to the punch.

    • @928studiosinc06
      @928studiosinc06  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I agree. The original idea was actually meant to include a Dark Knight Returns like story from Snyder, but WB forced him to combine the Man of Steel sequel with Batman. Also, it doesn’t help that they tried to introduce the SS before the Justice League. The DCEU should’ve been amazing, but it wasn’t.

@@928studiosinc06 Well, that's the thing. I wouldn't choose to follow him from this point in his career for the first movie. I think Batman: Year One or even Batman: Earth One is a better model for the first movie. Especially since you are suggesting that Supes is early in his career. Quite frankly, I like what Matt Reeves did with The Batman. I object to Pattinson's Batman occupying its own universe outside of the new DC cinematic universe. True, The Batman is dark and gritty, but he could lighten up a bit as he matured, eventually joining Corenswet's Superman. I think it could work, if enough smart people joined forces. Knightfall is, however, a good idea for maybe the third movie. For the second movie, I'd suggest The Killing Joke or Batman Reborn (Grant Morrison's run) as a model.

    Okay, so, let me explain...
In the DC comics, there is a character named Lucifer Morningstar, and I immediately made the connection between DC Lucifer Morningstar and HH Lucifer Morningstar, and here we are.
Anyways, this would actually be a movie taking place after the events of both the post-credits scene for Wonder Woman and the HH pilot. The plot would revolve around Sir Pentious returning for revenge on Alastor, he ends up kidnapping Charlie after discovering Alastor has feelings for her (yes, I'm a Charlastor shipper), leaving Alastor, Angel Dust, Husk, Niffty and Vaggie (with assistance from Cherri Bomb) to have to rescue her.
Lucifer also plays a small but major role in the film, as he shows up at the end to aid Alastor in taking on Sir Pentious. Ultimately, Charlie convinces Sir Pentious to join the hotel and everything goes back to normal

    JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA
The film features the Justice League (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Martian Manhunter and Alastor) taking on the Legion of Doom (Lex Luthor, Riddler, Cheetah, Ocean Master, Captain Cold, Ma'alefa'ak and Bizarro) who have captured Charlie and plan to use her hellish powers to create an ellixhar that will turn the entirety of mankind into obedient slaves. In the end, the League defeat the Legion, rescue Charlie and establish the Hall of Justice
