The #SubaruImpreza has been fully redesigned for 2024 and this new 6th generation #Impreza dumps the sedan body style for a hatchback only lineup. The more sporty #ImprezaRS also makes its return, with the more powerful 2.5L Boxer F-4 engine has standard, along with the company's signature AWD system.

The bigger screen is a downgrade from the previous gen, it's just that it's cheaper to manufacture since you don't have two separate display panels and a HVAC section to put together, everything is one unit. But it doesn't display any more information than the old 8" system since part of the extra space is taken up by what would have been the old infopod at the top and the what used to be the HVAC knobs at the bottom. The old system was ergonomically awesome to use, because you could use the heating controls at the bottom and see the change at the top without having your eyes diverted too far away from the road. Plus the way they've chromed the infotainment module to include the air vents just makes it look huge and awkward, it would be a much cleaner design if without that chrome outline.

First I'll start off by saying that Subaru did a good business move in streamlining the Impreza lineup to a more practical hatchback.
It is also a good move to bring back the RS model. However I feel like Subaru missed out on a good opportunity to make the RS more appealing to enthusiasts on a budget that also need something practical by not offering it with a good manual transmission. The old manual Impreza models never sold well because they were not really that appealing and the manual transmission it's self was not that good. They could had at least adapted the manual transmission from the BRZ to make it a nicer shifting manual option.

It never really made sense to me that the Sport model isn't, well, sporty...and now they have this RS model on top of the Sport model. I heard about them bringing the 2.5 to the 2023 Impreza and I was considering upgrading to one of those for a bit more performance, but now that I've seen the new Prius, that'll likely be my next car. I am still shocked at what Toyota has done with the Prius for 2023. The Prius Prime is actually going to be a sporty PHEV, with its 220 HP. Add to that 40 miles of electric only range and it's a very compelling package. My only gripe is that the Prime won't be available with AWD because the larger battery doesn't leave enough room for a rear mounted motor, but the non plug-in hybrid will be available with AWD.

So it is really true that most consumers just aren't interested in clutch work when they don't have to do it. So Toyota cancelled the manual Corolla entirely (I don't really count the GR Corolla).
