The 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Is A Lively Turbocharged American Pony Car Icon

- The #MuscleCar is not dead yet and #Ford is keeping it alive with the newest generation of the #FordMustang for 2024. The #MustangEcoboost is also the last competitor standing for now with a turbocharged engine since the Camaro and Challenger have been discontinued. While every enthusiast is going to tell you to get the V8 powered #Mustang GT, the #Ecoboost still offers a lot of fun and speed for the money.

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all had a great week and upcoming weekend! We're hoping to get our hands on a GT and Dark Horse at some point later this year, but the Ecoboost should not be ignored! It offers GT levels of acceleration from just a couple generations ago and the new active exhaust gives it some pretty sweet sounds, especially with that silly remote rev feature that we kinda love 🙃
Happy Friday..Have a Good Weekend
Correction: The Auto Rev feature only comes with the Automatic gearbox 😅
Kissing the ass of Ford all for that sweet sweet monetization. Nobody wants Europoor inline-4 with a turbocharger that's twice as expensive as their older V8 models when adjusted for inflation.
Nearly 50K for a 4cyl is wild. And you almost have to get the performance pack minus the seats to get the feel of what this car offers.. No option for manual so anyone who really loves to drive sporty type cars won't really enjoy it. For 50K one can basically choose from all sorts of car manufacturers. Especially in the used car market.
50k for an ecoboost is insane. I bought a used 2016 in 2016 for 19k lol. 8 years later and the 2016s are still around the same price. Car market has gone to shit.
yeah same I picked up a 2015 premium in 2018 for 19k with 28k miles on it and certified. Market is terrible but is slowly right siding on used...new pricing is stupid and interest makes make it extra dumb.
The CARES act had consequences.
@zunedog31 so it's the CARES acts fault that Ford jacked up it's prices yeah ok 🤡🐑
It’s not 50 K he optioned it out too much. I went to Ford’s built site and I got a base eco-boost with just the performance package and that came out to 37k
Just bought one for $32k
Before anyone hates.. it’s quicker than most V6’s and can hang with a few V8’s.. and no the eco boost isn’t a ‘muscle car’ it’s a SPORTS CAR
My concern isn't its potency, but it's reliability. That's a lot of h p through a four banger.
@@CalvinHikesthe 2.3 has been proven to be reliable. Just do oil changes and change the spark plugs every so often and you’ll be fine
That would be neat if it was priced $30k or below… $50k is crazy
@@CPAJayhawk agreed! Can't understand why anyone would choose this car at $50k over a low mileage 3rd gen Coyote.
Nah it’s lame. Buy an S550 V8
Once upon a time an M5 with a V10 made 0-60 in 4.7s, just 0.2s faster than this base model. What a good time to be alive in the automobile history. Nice car.
Now imagine what a modern V10 would look like if they were still made? Sadly companies are just discontinuing them 😢
@@user-qg2tl3jk9z exactly what I thought. That's why I appreciate what modern tech offers even at base offers these days.
Keep in mind too that the E60 M5 has a single clutch automated manual, which shifts very slowly compared to more modern transmissions.
Ecoboost is a good option for people that want a convertible rental or older people who don't want a loud car but want the sports car handling. Great engine
$50k is an affordable sports car?
Rite these ppl are crazy they normalizing this bs that’s y manufacturers and dealers jacking up prices ppl just got to stop buying these overpriced vehicles that depreciate
Just bought one for $32k
my 2023 was 34k...which I believe is still steep, only way I will buy a 2024 gt is if they drop the MSRP to about 40k
I’m a 4 cylinder guy, love JDM, but if I bought a mustang, I’m going V8. When I hear one of those putter by, I think, That ain’t right. However, driving in traffic, mpg and maintenance, the ecoboost is the superior car. Great review as always!
your comment makes zero sense
@@brianfeeney3936 Oh, it’s okay Brian, all you need to do is work on you reading comprehension and you’ll get it.
Notice how Sofyan called the styling of the Mustang basic. I really don’t understand what people really want out of a car when it comes to styling. When Manufacturers take risks and give us a bold design, we say it’s ugly or too aggressive. When Manufacturers play it safe we call it boring or my fan favorite (sarcasm), “it looks like a Honda Accord.” So where do we draw the line here? Will people ever be satisfied with how a car looks?
Thx Ali
Nope. This is why they say styling is subjective. However you can tell that Ford didnt want to offend anyone with this redesign.
The last designer of a car is the owner.
Can’t remember who said this but it’s true for all cars. I could make a Honda accord look amazing with enough time and money.
Never!
your overthinking... he doesn't like this type of vehicle
Honestly doesn’t sound bad for a 4 banger 👌🏻
The fact that this base mustang is still faster than my v6 charger😅😅😅😅😅.
Plus it comes with a lsd in the rear too. Plus more hp and torque. My charger now feels left behind😅
The chargers not really a competitor to the mustang. That’s the challenger
@@naveenthemachine that still don’t stack up to this ecoboost mustang 😅
@@DESTRIAZthe Challenger is a bigger heavier car. You can actually sit peoplein the back seats. Duh!! 🙄
@naveenthemachine there both not the charger and challenger are the same vehicle
you'll will never see him to a dark horse mustang or a gt if he does he won't like it...he barely like the ecoboost
I love that the mustang crowd joke is still alive and well 😂
You need the V8 for that.
Great review! 👏
I have a ‘22 ecoboost base, 6spd manual. I average 22-24mpg using 87 and 26-28mpg using 93. I notice the power cuts off past 4500 rpm using 87. Its my only car otherwise I would consider a GT. Love my car and I love the lack of tech
I remember watching your review of the previous ecoboost when it came out years ago. I used to own a 2016 ecoboost, and when I test drove the 24 I was impressed with how much quicker it felt than the older one, I'm curious what the dyno numbers are
1st car i have heard you say "the door closing has a solid thump"...Ford quality.
I love how people are bitching about the price, while completely ignoring a base ecoboost starts in the low 30s. Complaining about the cost of a car that has basically all of tne option boxes checked makes about as much sense as eating 17 cheeseburgers and saying that it's too many calories.
Rented a Red Ecoboost convertible in Phoenix this past November. It was impressive, quick and decent on gas.
The only muscle car left.
sports car
Pony car actually it's both a muscle car and sports car... same as the Camaro by the way@@5_flaco_5
I have a 2024 Mustang GT and the A10 shifts really smoothly for me in Normal Mode but in Sport/Track the shifts are a lot more firmer.
I believe there was a firmware update that fixes that, ask your dealership to install it if you want it.
Great video, From my perspective, the price tag is very reasonable compared to Supra 2.0 or Nissan Z. They are smaller, slower, and less cool. I came from Model 3 Tesla, all I need is the same amount of tech and a cooler exterior with sound. And I don't like the V8, because most of the time, I want the car to be quiet, but also can produce noise. That's it!
I like it. Especially the Active Exhaust and fuel economy.
*The addition of a few hybrid e*-*motors will definitely give the ecoboost engine the much needed initial pull as well as fuel efficiency just like the Corvette E Ray*
I bought my first sports car in 2022, 22 camaro LT1 V6 348hp never had a car this fast. I was shook at how fast she is. How AMAZING SHE SOUNDS WITH QUAD EXHAUST 😁 if I had to go back I would have gotten the V8 I didn’t have that option at the time. It was covid and there was no V8’s I literally had to pay cash to get this one off the truck 🤣 hopefully when i trade her in 1 of 2 things will be the Camaro is resurrected or ford is still making the V8 mustang but better than it is this round.
My 74 Pinto had a 2.3 liter
My '85 Ford Ranger had that same motor but it was efi.
I like the look.
They do offer a sunroof. It called a convertible.
no 💀
A sunroof and convertible are not the same thing 😂
Bar None one of the BEST sounding modern day turbo 4!
Agreed, I think it sounds really good.
Great review. I mourn the loss of coupes and sedans - especially pony cars. I'll keep my 14 Cadillac XTS VSport and 92 Pontiac Trans Am forever! Appreciate this review as opposed to current crop of cuv/suv ones
I’m looking forward to grabbing a s650 GT. Waiting for Ford to get their quality up.
That is rather open ended. I am looking forward to buying a Bentley. Just waiting to attain a better financial position. 😂😂
Smart move. We bought an Explorer ST when it first came out and the reliability has been a disaster. I think the newer ones are better.
@@RLTtizME fair lmao
@@thebagnechannel3183 tell me about it, we have a 2016 s550 mustang and it’s falling apart after only 85k miles lol.
HA! Youll pass away waiting 😂😂
How does a slippery coupe with 10 gears only get 29 mpg highway?
That's pretty bad considering my 18 GT with the 6 speed manual got 32 mpg on a trip from Charlotte NC to Martinsburg WV
Lots of power.
People have tested their 2024 ecos and have gotten 4.5-4.8 secs 0-60 so it’s definitely not far fetched not everybody knows how to launch a vehicle properly
I like it
I saw one while shopping the other day and had to do a double take. In person it's really clean looking. To learn it's 50k..I'm over the initial aww now. It's just too much for the average person's fun extra car.
Just bought one for $32k
It's lively ooh I'll take 2
They should have given an option for manual Transmission. It is Tad pricey. If they had lowered the price this would have helped a lot.
Also, it just isn't a Mustang without that V8 rumble.
They should drop an AWD PHEV with an electric motor up front, et al Corvette e-ray
I dig the turbo 4, but they should've kept the V6 tbh, let alone an turbo6
Double bi-spoke wheels? What does that even mean?
Probably the best 2 door at its price
The Eco boost? Nah.

Thanks for reviewing the eco boost model even though you didn’t want to and it was raining. I would like to add my opinion because it’s unusually different from the review. I do like the overall look of the 4 cylinder car and I actually prefer the front end over the grill that’s in the GT. Though I do agree the plastic finish on the grill needs to look more expensive. I much prefer the roof in body color and if they offered a sunroof I would be forced to pay for it probably even if I didn’t want it. It’s disappointing the infotainment software is old. That shift lever isn’t just old, it’s ugly. And way to go Ford for possibly manufacturing the world’s first faux plastic made from carbon fiber. I wonder if next year they will find a way to make gold look like rubber. I would stick with the stock seats even if the Recaros were heated and cooled. I like the abbreviated spoiler. I would really like to know if the magnetic ride dampers are a worthwhile upgrade. Would a test drive even be enough to show me they were worth it?
Looking forward to your Dark Horse review. Sad you disappointed with the economical Mustang.
The rear fender is very Camaro and the rear is very Elantra.
The hood doesn’t perfectly meet the grill at the edge of the lights.
The car, very oddly, makes a better appearance in the flesh than pictures.
Not related but after hearing the price of this i realized how butt F@ck crazy this economy is. I went to mcdonalds for the first time today in years, got a junior chicken, 1 cheese burger and a medium fries and it was $11 like bro wtf
No kidding. McDonald's menu prices are actually scary.
Blame Democrats and all the idiots who wanted higher minimum wage. They're to blame for this entirely. When states demand that you significantly increase the salary of thousands of employees, you gotta make that up somehow.
Needs to be smaller, this car is huge compared to the SN95 which was a great size for a sports car
Always thought about swapping this motor into a new edge mustang for the weight savings
i feel the car isn't long enough.
@@ohh488 Do they have ecu adapters to make this kind of swap easier?
@@decapitofamily3410 that I do not know I was just going to buy a wrecked 2024 mustang eco and swap everything over but I was going to check if I can run hailtech or something for it to be tuned
Also, no manual is just tragic.
Side view in the thumbnail looks Camar-esque.
That "price as tested" is killing me. Is this Canadian dollars? I bought a 2014 V6 convertible Mustang brand new, and the price was an even $30k. And it had a manual.
Adjusted for inflation your $30k V6 is now a $40k car. This car is over a second quicker in the 1/4 mile handles better than a 2014 mustang. But yes $50k is a lot of money for a base level mustang with a bunch of stuff most people will never get the most out of. Just get a V8 for $46k as that is a better deal.
Just bought one for $32k
@@paddycullen1 eco boost or Coyote?
"typical Mustang driver..." Love it! but love all makes and models...to each their own.
First. Keep up the good content
Second?
Third?
I own a 2001 5 speed V6. People don't care if it's not a GT.
That’s what the poor think 😂
The 0-60 was worse in Cali because of heat soak. Wish manufacturers would use 5 cylinder engines to replace their V6s. 4 pots don't have enough low end torque without boost.
I’d never buy the 4 banger over the coyote but you have to admit 33mpg in a car this heavy with the performance it has is kinda amazing
the world is bigger then USA and for the major part of the world taxes get crazy on big displacement engines...
The only thing amazing is how fast the resale plummets to completely negate the mpg difference. Best off getting a GT with less of a financial hit. MPG is the most overrated thing ever when resale is much more important.
@@calinator51 I understand as I have a gt myself but it’s still a very impressive spec on its own.
@@android-ud2nf You made a wise choice. Those ecoboosts are a wallet destroyer.
I request you to please mention the base price in every video and when you mention the tested price then give us the breakup.
Lil known history fact
A mustang isn't a muscle car, it's always been a pony car but this is what some like to do
Ford Mustang is your best bang for the buck!
Looks more like a big refresh not a redesigned car
Now that Dodge and Chevy no longer make their pony cars, is the mustang really the last muscle car or does the corvette count as a muscle car?
Ford really stopped putting engine covers on cars 😂
Helps keep the weight balance when they tossed out the spare tire from the other end.
it was a stupid thing anyway
Facts, like that was an ugly engine bay
I would upgrade the wheel and tire package "aka" rim it up. Give it a more aggressive stance.
Another great review!
Minor correction…

Well done Barton
But it was the 65 model year.

That’s true. And it was manufactured with other 64s. But Ford calls it a 65 and it has a 1965 VIN so it is also “Technically” a 1965.

$50k for a base engine Mustang is insane. This trim would be great if it was $35k - $40k.

Am I the only one in tears over no manual on the ecoboost? I had a 2015 manual ecoboost and I would get the new one. But they only have the auto
There is a large chorus of crying Ford Ecoboost owners who want to shift it on their own. That party is over.
Get a V8 then.
Looks like a Mazda 6, or Buick LaCrosse, from the side or front.
Need a Hybrid version
Fully loaded ecoboost cost the same as a base GT
That's an easy decision for me: 5.0! 👊👊👊
Quite bold to label such a gas guzzler „Eco“. Or actually misleading
I saw one on the dealer lot it was 43k give me a break
No breaks for you. Next time be honest. Less fibbing
Your concerns should not be the the price or reliability. This thing, especially not having a V8 will have resale dropping like a rock. Pay 50 and it will be worth 15 in 5 years.

Had one from Enterprise.
Rattling away at only 1,700 miles.

Overpriced by at least $10k.
Top speed is 155mpg for ecoboost
50 grand!!!!!! Give me the Nissan Z
Sorry but $50k for an ecoboost is insane. You can get a base 2024 GT for less than that or even a performance package Gen 2 or Gen 3 for way less than that.

The new front end is sure ugly. Is that the best Ford can do? Wish they would make a good looking GT 350R again.
Go for the GT I have no regrets on buying mine everyone loves it men women and children. Nothing beats the exotic sound and instant torque of the V8. You can also put 87 pump gas in the v8 runs fantastic saves some money
Turbos? 1. Hard on oil. 2. No trade off with gas mileage. 3. Shortened maintenance cycle. Why does this car weigh 3,800lbs. I thought one of the trade off was weight savings. So no, I don't get the point. And I seriously doubt you'll see those fuel numbers. Those testing loops are rigged. But, I always liked the mustang. Maybe that is the point.
“Riced out”…. Guess HE can say that …
It's a "base" engine....but it's a $50K sports car with it's base engine.
It’s a performance model with the premium features that’s why it’s so much if it wasn’t the premium model you could get it for 35k easily and it probably has magnaride too
At that price point I'll take a Supra
Naveen is quiet. Go figure
Wait......are people actually paying 50k for 4 cylinder Mustangs?????? Ford has gotten greedy asf and people are idiots..at 50k there are cars that are faster than the GTs smh Ford has peoole convinced a rental grade Mustang is a luxury car
With a fully loaded performance package it can get to that price. However I just bought the base version with a night pony package and the total price was about 33k. And most other packages start at around 35k to 36k before tax.
$50k? Lol. I bought a 2023 turbo four camaro for $28k new. Didn't like the turbo lag so sold it to caravana for $34k. Drove the ecoboost and it didn't feel very fast, it's too heavy for a four cylinder.

Epic fail of the first order. Really shows the kind of pretender (poseur?) this car is aiming for. All those go-fast looking bits: Seat, brakes, nice wheels, "drift brake" and a flatulent four banger hooked up to a CVT-like slushbox.
