After Haiti gained its independence from France in 1804, Haiti was punished, abandoned and an embargo was put on Haiti by United States and the European powers. Haiti had to pay France an indemnity of 2 billion gold franc that is equivalent to over 150 billion dollars in today’s money. It took the United States 60 years to recognize Haiti’s independence…Haiti also helped a lot of countries to get their independence, such as Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, South Korea, etc. We also helped Savannah, Georgia, and Chicago when they needed help. Haitians are proud people! We are the first black independent country in the world! We are a loving nation that loves everybody!! Thank you African Tigress, Asante sana! Merci beaucoup!!

African Tigress, thank you for the love that you have shown Haiti and other Caribbean countries. Haiti is a microcosm of Africa in the Caribbean. It took Haiti over 130 years to pay back the predatory loans that Chase bank and other European banks loaned to Haiti. That is the reason why Haiti did not have money to develop the infrastructure. Haitians are resilient people. You'll find them all over the world. Haitians occupy positions in different walks of life. Given the opportunity, they will excel. I love my Jamaican brothers and sisters! I love Saint Lucia, Trinidad, Dominica, Guyana, The Bahamas, and all the other Caribbean nations! I love all my African brothers and sisters!! 1914 US Marines took all of Haiti gold Reservoir took all of the gold to Washington, DC, never returned it back, in fact Citibank was founded with that gold and this is a time when haiti was thriving there’s a New York times article on it .
