Good comparison....I also carry my water bottle with filter on it, however, on this pack it looks like its almost in your face, and I use the sawyer squeeze, so I would be worried that it would smack you in the face if you weren't careful. Thoughts? Thanks!
It was honestly not an issue, I put in some 40 mile days with a Sawyer micro on it and never thought twice. The micro recently took a crap on me but that's a whole other thing.
Wyatt X, I carried around 30 pounds with the V2 starting my FKT. My shoulders were a little sore on days one and two but was also hiking 12-14 hours a day. It can handle 30 pounds but that is pretty maxed out.
Hey Patrick, I switched for a few very specific reasons. Both Palante Packs still have their place in my lineup but I am attempting the Unsupported FKT on the Colorado Trail in August so I needed more volume than the V2 can offer since I need to carry about 10 days of food. Since I am carrying so much food I was also looking for a pack that carried weight better than the V2. The V2 is great but I loaded it down with 8 days of food for the Superior Hiking Trail FKT and that more than maxed it out and my shoulders felt it. The Zerk40 is just an overall great pack! It carries weight really well since it shifts much of it to your chest instead of your shoulders which really helps with heavier loads, it has tons of storage pockets that you don't find on other packs and the material is overall pretty water resistant. I do miss the fancy bottom pocket of the Palante Packs and it is a little heavier but I'm really happy overall.
Best backpack comparison ever! Thank you!
Great comparison video! Thanks for doing this!
I just got my Joey and freaking love it! I have a 16” V2 so the size wasn’t super different, but I will say I miss the bigger bottom pocket
Hey William! Glad you are enjoying the Joey as well. It's an awesome pack but I agree the larger bottom pocket on the V2 is super handy.
Nice upload great info

How much weight can the v2 carry ? Could it handle 30 or 35 pounds ?

Hey thanks for the reply I actually just ordered a v2 yesterday pretty hyped but waiting 2 months for it at least
So what made you move from these to the Zerk 40? I have a dyneema pack and considering the switch to the Zerk40
