  • Hey guys!
    Join Darwin (Darwin On The Trail) and me for an epic adventure in Nepal! In Part 1 we flew to Katmandu, explored the city, flew to Lukla the most dangerous airport in the world, and trekked from Lukla to Gokyo Lakes. In Part 2 we will trek from Gokyo Lakes, up and over Chola Pass, and on to Everest Base Camp eventually climbing Kala Patthar for a breathtaking view of Everest.
    Enjoy!

    Great video Very well documented. My wife and I did EBC several years ago and it was by far the best trek we have done (also did Kilimanjaro and Inca Trail to MP). I don't know how you stayed warm enough with shorts and sun hoodie. I had base layer and long pants on the bottom, and wool base layer, fleece, and down jacket on top on the final morning. It was COLD until the sun came out and then we shed the layers. I'm glad you enjoyed the trek. I enjoyed the video.

      Thanks for tuning in! EBC is epic! Unless its below 35F I always hike in shorts. As long as you keep moving its pretty easy to stay warm. Obviously we had layers to throw in if need be but really only used them when we stopped or were at a pass/summit.

    Juice and Darwin, what a mind-blowing journey, the views from base camp were utterly magnificent! Although your video captures were amazing, I'm sure being there is a sight to behold, that you'll never forget! Juice, again, thank you for this mesmerizing 2 part video!

    We did the three passes in Nov. Thanks for your earlier posts. They were quite helpful. The weather in Nov. was great, mostly clear skies. Kal Patthar was fantastic. We skipped EBC, but have no regrets about that. 17 miles and Kal Patthar in the same day is killing it for that altitude. I had no problem with headaches, but I would be pretty physically drained at the end of the day. I probably have 35+ years on you though. Gokyo Ri was socked in when we were there unfortunately.

    • @juicehikes5436
      @juicehikes5436  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sounds like a great trip! EBC is just a rock so doing Kala Patthar over EBC was the right choice. The headaches were self inflicted since we did over 6k feet elevation on day 2. I bet the view from Gokyo Ri is epic, wish we could have seen it!

    Beautiful story and photography. I have two questions; who was filming you when you were both in the shot and did you have a porter or were you carrying all of your gear in your backpacks. Congrats on a great trip.

      Thanks for watching! We didn’t have a videographer or a porter. The shots were set up on small tripods and then we walk by. Some panning or camera movements are added in post.

    Enjoyed the video. Considering EBC in the spring. Quick question. Did you pack/Fly with trekking poles or purchase when you arrived in Nepal? Glad to see you trekking in trail runners. A lot of other videos recommended formal boots, but I haven't hiked in boots in years. Thanks again

    • @juicehikes5436
      @juicehikes5436  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks Tyler! We bought trekking poles when we got there. The knock off gear market in Nepal is crazy. You can get decent poles for really cheap. Most people wear boots on this trek but it’s absolutely not necessary. They just bought into the marketing hype lol.

      @@juicehikes5436 good to know. Trekking poles were the one item that would potentially cause me to check a bag flying. Thanks again.

      Completely agree on the footwear. I just wore Altra Lone Peak 5s and had no problem. I think any decent trail runners are the way to go. @@juicehikes5436
