I just found and purchased the 2022 Tucson. I LOVE it. First SUV purchase for us in almost 20 years. We looked at the Sportage, Rogue, RAV4, CRV and the 2021 Tucson and nothing could beat the 2022 for value, style, room, safety, warranty, convenience, and ride. Sweet SUV and this review is spot on.

Ditto & I also test drove the comparable Lexus & Subaru models. This is a great car, I got the Limited AWD and it is like driving a luxury car, but w/o the luxury price tag. I traded in a 2011 Elantra that I had spent ZERO dollars on beyond routine maintenance. This is an awesome car and you do get used to the fact it does not have lots of buttons & knobs (and I am a senior who can't work a smart phone). Between the controls on the steering wheel & it being voice interactive, you can easily do what you need to do while actually driving. (Remember, a lot of the complicated stuff they show you on the screen is NOT stuff you will do while actually driving the car!) For example, you can manage the climate control by voice, you do not have to fiddle w/ the touchscreen. You can zoom your nav screen by voice or change radio stations, ask what time it is.... This car does a lot w/o taking a hand off the wheel or attention off the road.

Touch sensitive buttons don't bother me. It's only on the top trims. Which has voice recognition technology anyways. It's like having a whole Alexa in the car. And you got controls on the steering wheel. Not to mention, passengers can control the volume and music with their phones using Android Auto/Apple Carplay capability as long they are connected to Bluetooth. So there's no need to lean over to change the volume or music. Just use your phone. It's the way of the future!

I just test drove the 2022 Ultimate hybrid version and wow!! Love the changes between last year's model and this one. The Ultimate does have media volume spin knobs which I like. The sun roof opens further and all sorts of other goodies like the Remote Smart parkjng assist where the vehicle will driveout of a tight parking space by itself, blind view monitor and memory seating. Lots more too! The price for this one is $44,000 Canadian. I also looked at the lesser luxury model and its $42,000 also really nice with a little less goodies. I went in to look at the 2021 Ioniq ultimate hybrid and now I can't decide lol. Already have a minivan and just wanted a 2nd in city car to replace my Versa but oh boy that Tucson is so amazing!!!

So that's their new interior design, Santa Cruz is using the same dash and steering wheel. Gotta say, while the steering wheel is kinda funky and interesting, the infotainment, is lacking by comparison to their large SUVs, like the Palisade and its cousin, the Kia Telluride. While it may have a ton of features, the layout of that infotainment is going to need a refresh to eliminate the lack of feel to the touch sensitive buttons and the piano black.

I love the 2022 Tucson. My only issue with Hyundai is that they don't seem to understand that when you make a vehicle bigger, it needs substantially more horsepower.
Look at the difference in size of the base 2016 Tucson to the 2017. Yet, Hyundai kept the horsepower the same at 164. I bought one of those base 2017 Tucsons. I love everything about the car, except we get smoked when the light turns green. (Well, we used to until we moved to an area where 90% of the population drives super slow). We just gave up and named it Turtle.
This new Tucson has definitely caught my eye. Thanks for the great review!

I would totally consider getting this Tucson...not much of a size compromise with new bigger dimensions and lots of premium features and tech for a bit less $$$ than a new refresh Santa Fe....Great video as always!

I am typically not a fan of the no knobs/buttons trend in car interiors these days, especially with the Tesla Model 3/Y. However, after testing out this new Tucson, Hyundai's implementation of it in this vehicle is intuitive and easy to use. There is a single touch control for everything you need readily at hand. No hidden or sunken menus like in the Tesla products. The fact that the steering wheel has volume and tuning controls makes the need to use the touch display for those functions unnecessary. I liked the Tucson so much I put a deposit down on a plug in hybrid version Limited. Now I just have to patiently await delivery.

Hey guys, can you guys please test the AWD system of the hybrid htrac awd vehicle like how you guys did for the Kona. The vehicle is beautiful but I do want to know how it does in a slippery situation like snow and mud, not so much off roading but real world winter situation, long drives, high elevation. It would be nice to know the most effective drive mode that would get the best traction and fuel efficiency.

Thank you for telling the detail about the 2.5L engine having both Direct Injection and Port Injection -- I didn't realize that! That's good to hear because it should help w/ diminishing some of the valve gunk problems on some GDI-only engines. Good info! Still needs a volume knob, come on Hyundai!

Hyundai/KIA is really knocking it out of the park. Next up the Santa Cruz! They need to put that grill on the Palisades! I love the simple knobs on my old Honda Element. HVAC and radio work great with KNOBS. But all the brands are losing them.

Tuning knob??? 100% use carplay. Tuning knob is equivalent to in flight infotainment ( everyone uses their iPad or computer, so airplanes just have wifi with entertainment)

I don't really care about the lack of volume/tuning knobs because 99% of the time I'm going to use the steering wheel controls. That said, I hate that center dash layout. It looks like they forgot to design switches/buttons and decided to just place a big reflective sticker there instead.
