    Honestly a CX5 NA is slightly slower, less fuel efficient, but likely more reliable and looks way better inside and out.
    the one thing that has me adding this to my shopping list is that is the dual edge sword of that turbo engine.
    I've had one in the past and it's likely why the mpgs aren't great. They are also hard on oil and I'd only buy one new or certified used.
    HOWEVER, if you like modding your car, this is the only CUV out there where you can do the usually turbo mods to get all types of sounds from the car (and exhaust mods) while having that hybrid there to help.

    Without reducing any from this Hyundai
    Tucson a basic clarification is in order;
    Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V do not use
    a CVT!
    CR-V have one ratio gear with no traditional transmission (no belt potential fault) and no CVT.
    RAV4 have E-CVT which is regular planetary 8 shift transmission and electrical motor to rev the combustion motor to the optimal rpm
    for specific gear.
    And the results are smooth (almost as CVT) shifts and driving then much more costly cars I must note.
    There we go
    not too complicate to put in simple manner.

    Hyundai has really knocked it out of the park with the styling inside and out. What I don't understand is the point of making a dedicated hybrid version not engineered for maximum fuel efficiency. It'd be more efficient with a CVT, and why does a hybrid of this size need a turbo and over 200hp when MPGs should be of utmost importance with a hybrid? I'm baffled by the powertrain. As the owner of a Hyundai in this beautiful Quartz White Pearl paint, AVOID IT. Hyundai is having serious peeling problems with their white paint for a few years now.

    • @MDKN22
      @MDKN22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hyundai is against hybrids with CVTs, as they tend to make their cars feel a little antiquated. What strikes me is why they didn't decide to adapt the new 8-speed DCT to this drivetrain. That would make this an absolute blast to drive and get excellent fuel economy.

      Nope. It has a "tire mobility kit," which is a 12V-powered plug-in compressor and a single-use jar of their sealant solution. So I ordered an aftermarket donut & accessories (including a jack)--that way any tow truck driver can change the tire instead of having to wait for Hyundai roadside assistance--in case the damage is something the sealant can't fix (sidewall, tread puncture >1/4"). my wife just got this car and absolutely loves it. The only downside (which no one seems to talk about) is that when you put the car in reverse the artificial noise that it makes is sooooo loud. I understand that it's a requirement, but it honestly sounds like a big box truck backing up. It's so loud that my wife backs the car in at night just so she doesn't wake the neighbors early the next day leaving for work.

      Wrong, the 1.6T has been proven to be one of the most reliable Hyundai engines in production. They are phasing out the Nu and Thetas because of improper heat-treated piston rings which cause the fires and are replacing them with the 2.5L.

    We own one. Bought it in June. The mpg is a joke. On a long distance trip we got 35 mpg. Locally(a mix of in town and highway, it’s between 29-32. Not anywhere near the 37. Our previous car got 22 so there’s that. On the plus side the steering is tight, the steering wheel feels good in the hands and it has plenty of safety tech for the money.

    Thanks for the good review, this car looks great on the outside, especially front, and secondly from the back. The 4 spoke steering wheel is better than a 3 spoke. My only gripe is the capacitive touch buttons, and any shiny reflective chrome and piano black on the interior that reflects the sun into the driver's eyes. I think that I would prefer the Santa Fe interior though.

    I don't believe the MPG numbers. Step on the gas at all and the MPG probably goes down 10+. A 1.6 liter Hyundai engine will probably be worn out at 100k. I owned 1 Hyundai and that is all it took to to never want one again.

    • @tbvv6729
      @tbvv6729 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. Hyundai does give you a lot for your money but reliability and longevity is not one of those qualities of Hyundai. My 2012 Prius has 185K+ miles and is now being driven by my son with only routine maintenance without any repairs. I am now driving a 2021 Toyota Venza and plan to keep it over 200K miles. My Venza is not at 12 K miles and averaging 42 to 45 mpg. My wife loves it. Our RAV4 is our back up vehicle with only 33K miles.

      As far as mpg goes(I'm Canadian so I'm converting from L/100km to mpg) I usually get about 40 in the city and then on the highway it's a bit worse at like 35(70 mph highway speeds). I did look at the Venza but the storage space in the back was too small to fit my dog comfortably and honestly I really did like the 6 speed in the Hyundai. I can't speak to reliability yet as I've done 5500ish miles but so far it's been wonderful.
      EDIT: forgot to add the mechanical awd is nice here in Alberta Canada, the roads can get pretty bad in the winter.

    • @JT-fq2bl
      @JT-fq2bl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Geez, what are y'all talking about? Hyundai 1.6t engine has a proven history of reliability with all the hard driven Velosters still out on the road. This also applies to the 6 speed auto. Engine too small that will cause it to burn out at 100k mile? Try a Ford Escape/Bronco Sport 1.5t, Jeep Renegade, & Chevrolet Trailblazer. Low MPG when you stomp on the gas? If you drive like a bat out of hell, but most people will not drive their hybrid vehicles in that manner.
