incidentally I had this issue more on my 1050ti but it still rarely pops up during lap one on some courses even now I've upgraded to a 1070. Different people have found different things that work though a lot seem to have had at least some success by enabling vsync in both the game settings and nvidia control panel then setting the refresh rate to 60/75 etc in the game settings (this also fixes the weird choppy cutscenes/replays problem).
Ben try and have a look at how David Greco managed ERS in the codies streaming from the other day, it's way more efficient than leaving it on a certain mode for the entire lap. Basically go to hotlap mode on the straights and use no ERS in the technical sections (in Melbourne turn 4-5-6 and almost the entire last sector). That way you can be as fast as the AI.
SUBBU_ In the 2 preview episodes for the career mode he even mentions how it seems to be more effective to use higher ERS modes on the straights and that he should try and save it in slower more technical areas.
The visual atmosphere is much nicer in this game. Feels much closer to an actual onboard camera. More buffeting, shriller engine noise, washed out contrast from the sun, glare, better shadows on objects. I like it
Having been playing the F1 2017 demo on the PS4 and now watching this, I'm genuinely impressed at how much the series has stepped up in the past couple of years and it now looks to be very challenging if you want it to be. Having played a lot of iRacing and rFactor in the past, I'd never given the official F1 games too much consideration as they were more like arcade games IMO, but this looks like a very realistic and "analog" experience, where you have to actually think about race craft and strategy. The physics look great too, and it's really awesome to see an aggressive but skilful AI that does also occasionally make mistakes. Might have to get the wheel out of the attic and resurrect my sim racing "career"!

Why did the bus park though? Because of the acute angle. Anytime you attempt a cut back, it is still your responsibility to not run in the back of the person running the inside line. Ocon was always going to be slow on exit due to his line. Captain hindsight here but Ben should've stuck to the outside.
In all of the F1 2018 videos I’ve seen so far, nobody has mentioned Claire’s Scottish accent. Really enjoyed the episode, though. Hope this career mode will be one of the best.
The AI difficulty is still stuck/buggy if the player gets knocked out in Q1 or Q2. Look at how Ben couldn't get through with a 1:22.3, but Hamilton's pole was a 1:23.something.

Ziggy Rotten F1 needs to grab more channels in the US as well as show the races at decent times. Staying up until 3am on a Monday morning isn’t going to grab working peoples attention. There is also next to zero advertisements for formula 1. I only get it because I’ve subscribed. If Formula 1 wants to get into the American market they need to promote it a lot more.

And don't get me wrong I loved NASCAR from the 60s-70s because it was actual STOCK car racing (as their name suggests) I mean if you watch petty win on Sunday, you could go to the dealership on Monday and buy a car that looks just like it. So until NASCAR goes back to its roots (aka never) their done for. But The people that run F1 need to recognize this trend and capitalize on it, then they'll be a huge draw for any GP held here, or that comes on at a time that working people have a chance to see. :)
It seems like the AI is reaaaaally strong in a straight line, but they struggle in braking zones and corners a lot. (You can especially see the problems in the corner with the Ocon incident.) Anyway, a really good first race. Here's to way more of these!

1080 with Ryzen 5 2600X, 16GB of RAM, air cooled - nothing special, no problems whatsoever. GPU temps don't exceed 50 nor does my CPU, lol?

On the freezing issue try to reduce your disk usage i had that issue on my PC with other games
yep, this can cause it. Programs updating or antivirus, even windows update downloading in the background.
Had similar issue at the start of F1 2017 aswell (was running on older Mechanical HDD) did nothing but some patch fixed it
