Ben, when you’re defending or attacking, use overtake and not hotlap. Overtake is focused on giving extra power in 7th and 8th gear. Hotlap is good for acceleration but on the long straights you’ll get higher top speeds in overtake.
Ben pay attention to what you say about the car in the interviews. The front wing upgrade was "more costly and with higher change to fail" because of the poor morale of the department, due to the answer you give in the interview last episode.
Ale Vic u are right. @ben ur answers in these interviews reflect how u will pan out as a racer with ur team. If u are looking to troll the game go full showmanship and blame everything on the team or if u are serious on ur decisions decide which path u will take
JackB Racing yeah I think in fairness if he doesn't score points its not a massive failure because the game has sauber as the second slowest team. The game may not accurately reflect real life performance, even the team objective is to fight for marginal points so any point this early in career mode is an achievement

From part 1 Ben try and have a look at how David Greco managed ERS in the codies streaming from the other day, it's way more efficient than leaving it on a certain mode for the entire lap. Basically go to hotlap mode on the straights and use no ERS in the technical sections (in Melbourne turn 4-5-6 and almost the entire last sector). That way you can be as fast as the AI.
SUBBU_ That could be very costly on certain tracks like Monza and Interlagos which for the most part (especially Monza) is straight because apart from the first chicane and Ascari, you’re using ERS on the highest consuming mode. On interlagos, the corners are not all that slow as well as the two long and quick straights. This would work a treat on Baku though because of the castle section as well as the short and slow corners

Well, they kinda did. Ridiculous ballast is basically gone... I think the most you can get away with, if you're REALLY good, is 9. Wings are apparently closer together now, but still a lower front than rear. Bahrain for example would probably be something like 3/4-6 now.

My impression: the game is too fast. Look at the times of Q1: Vettel does a 1:25.770, the pole of this year's GP in real life was a 1:27.958. Two seconds faster. Your time in Q1 would have been good enough for P1 in real life's Q1. I could understand such laps after some seasons of upgrades, but at the 2nd race of the first season, it makes little sense. Race fastest lap in the game: 1:29.250 Race fastest lap irl: 1:33.740 A game which should be the most look-a-like videogame compared to F1 should also be comparable in performances.

I think sauber is a perfect choice it gives you something to work towards and it isn’t instant podiums or point finishes which makes the series a lot more rewarding when you start picking up points
Honestly, it is a thousand times more interesting to watch you battling in midfield, struggling to score points rather than seeing you fight with two other teams at the front. Oh and you are giving up the inside way too easily. You need to be a bit more defensive when under pressure.
A tipp: At the start of the race, optimal rpm is around 11.000 and not full throttle. You will only have wheelspin and a poor start pressing that paddle fully..

i do have the same problem, running 95 AI lets me finish the practice programs without real struggle but in the race im so much faster. if i put the AI on 100 or 105 the practice programs are so much harder.

Run a higher front wing than rear wing. I always run something like 1-4 front, and like 3-6 in the rear depending on the track. Adjust the suspension accordingly. That gives you higher top speed and good corner speed

What I liked about the AI behavior at 15:18 despite the stupid crash is that Perez parks his car at the orange mark on the barrier, where in real life a marshal with a fire extinguisher is stationed. So it made sense to drive there.
I think your videos are the best ones so far, but just bear in mind what you said last year about how easy you found it. You're on the hardest difficulty level, in one of the worst cars, but you're doing a good job. It's not supposed to be easy so stick at it. I can't help but thinking that such low front downforce contributed to your poor pace though. 1 and 7 will surely create massive amounts of understeer. Keep up the great work though, looking forward to seeing how you can progress through your career!
I noticed that the target time for the qualifying simulation was 1:28.627, which is approximately 2.5 seconds faster than Sauber's fastest lap in qualifying at the real life Bahrain Grand Prix, is about 0.6 seconds slower than the pole time, and would have been good enough for P6 if set in Q3.
The fact you're almost 2 seconds slower (best lap) than all other cars on the track, you should be happy. And it shows you have set the difficulty to high. Reason you are so far in front of your driving pace is thanks to your bit to much aggression while defending or taking over.
Hi Ben, I've noticed in your videos you tend to floor the accelerator on the grid for the starts. If you look at the HUD it's still saying "Reach Optimal RPM" when you do that. I think your starts might improve if you hold the revs lower and get less wheelspin off the line.

Ben - you just wasted at least 270 resource points by getting that upgrade early. Get all the resource efficiency upgrades you want first, then start going down the tree. You've said you want to keep driving for Sauber, so you're only hurting your progression in the long run.
I think you could change the difficult settings before practice to make the programs easier and then set it back high before qualifying. In F1 2017 this does work, off course I don't know if it's still possible in F1 2018

danfield32 The point is trying to maximize the benefits of ERS usage by deploying energy in key areas. It obviously requires tuning track by track.

The depth in career mode is amazing. The graphics in the game need improving massively regarding the drivers and team bosses such as Toto.

Little tip I got from playing the Beta, Overtake ERS mode is quicker in a straight line, but Hotlap is better through the corners.
