Also I could tell you 100 facts about Born This Way but possibly my favourites are about The Edge Of Glory. TEOG is a song about that glorious moment before the end of your life, when you know you are going to die, and being completely free because you have nothing to fear anymore. She started writing the song when her grandfather was on his death bed, they took shots together and talked about life. The saxophone player she asked to play on the song is Clarence Clemons. He freestyled the whole thing, and his performance in the music video was actually his very last performance before passed away. He died unexpectedly from a stroke the day after the music video released. His saxophone is the last thing you hear as it closes out the Born This Way album. If that isn't poetic I don't know what is
What is world unicorn day 😭 like the animal or what I mentioned in the video? If there's a world day for a third during sex than holy shit have I been living under a rock 💀
I can't put into words how much this album means to me and my life. It saved me when I was a kid, I was maybe around 12 or 13 when this album came out. It felt like a warm hug but also got me fired up about how messed up the world could be. Growing up as an LGBT kid wasn't easy. This album really captured what it was like to be growing up back then-lots of anger mixed with a craving to just live and enjoy life. Lady Gaga gave us a space to celebrate life when no one else in the music industry did. When she started her career back in 2008, no artist was brave enough to support us. But Lady Gaga did right from the start. She put her heart into fighting for us, and I can't thank her enough for saving so many lives through her art. Born this way is really a masterpiece. If you go to the born this way music video there’s like +300 comments on how she saved their lives when they were growing up. She changed the whole industry and honestly, the whole world and I am not even overreacting, everyone knew who she is and talked about her, so yup. Thanks GaGa 💖✨
I read this and was so moved and related so much ❤. This album saved my life and helped plant the seeds of a journey of acceptance for myself instead of a life of hating myself and misery. I was 13 too when Born This Way dropped and as a little LGBT kid myself still trying to figure out what it even meant to be gay aside from what I was taught and told which was that it was wrong, Gaga came on the scene and brought things to the front of peoples minds. I truly agree and believe she influenced the public opinion on LGBTQ+ equality, rights, and people. She moved the needle of progress immensely and I’ll forever love her and be grateful for all she does and has done. Thank you for sharing your story!
My favourite piece of trivia about this fantastic album is this: Gaga designed the single artwork for Judas herself - she used Microsoft Word and took the photo with her mobile phone “for texture” and you can actually see her reflection in the image if you look close enough!
