Now Insecticide or Live in New York?
I think you should listen to Incesticide (which, if you didn’t already know, is a compilation album of stuff recorded from 1988 to 1992) and then MTV unplugged, and after that listen to the deluxe editions of Nevermind and In Utero. Also throw in Superfuzz Bigmuff (the deluxe edition) by Mudhoney, because Kurt really liked the album and it sounds very similar to Bleach!
Leave unplugged for the final, and watch it if you can.
Yeah, insecticide first
incesticide
Live in New York next
The producer of this album actually sadly died a few days ago
R.I.P Steve Albini
rip
Wait what? I didn’t hear about this! R.I.P Steve Albini
He was a pedo
R.I.P.
As a soft rock lover you don’t really seem to love the softer parts of the album💀
"This is not so nice"
*continues to headbang and stank face 😂😂
Quiet => Loud => Quiet => Loud
- Pixies
Was going to comment this.
Pixies are wayyy more than that, God dammit
Led Zeppelin
...and several bands before pixies too... Does it matter really ? Even bands/musicians from 60``s did it.
Yeah, and thank god for the guy who invented the wheel. Without them, we would have never had wheels.

Thank you! ❤
Frances Farmer was also Graped by the staff of the asylum she was kept in. Allegedly there would be a line of men taking turns. So the song is also staying with the theme of Kurts advocacy for Assault victims.
It goes very smoothly along the theme and chronological progression of advocacy for Sexual Assault victims. Sucks that stuff like this happens frequently let alone at all. Just hoping the Asylum staff were held accountable. According to an interview conducted with Kurt Cobain he made the song Rape Me cause people were overlooking/misunderstanding the lyrics of songs such as About A Girl and Polly at the time. “How obvious do we have to be?”
@Sensevu There's a video on TH-cam of The band reacting to people's review of In Utero when it first came out. There was a college girl who said she wasn't happy about the song Rªpe Me in particular. Called it offensive. Kurt had to outwardly state its an anti Ræpe song.
I do remember Kurt Cobain saying in some interview that this was the first album he'd really sat down and consistently paid attention to lyrics, as previously, he'd mostly written stream of consciousness, whatever came into his head.
Sounds to me like what Dave did later on with the Foo. Not a lyrics guy according to himself. But then he's able to write things like "Let It Die", "Razor" or "Friend of a Friend", so...
"This is almost commercial." hehe...give it a minute :)
YEah man, was funny af when he said that. Apparently the record label went mad with Steve Albini when he sent them the final master hahaha. Steve was like "Kurt wanted it to sound like this man"
rip steve albini @@Astrophobia88
Should've included I hate myself and want to die.
And Sappy and MV😊
@@alanmurray5963Marigold too
That song is not on the original record. B-side.. so wait till he does the box set. Lol
@@alanmurray5963 and Marigold
Maybe ykyr
So basically, Nirvana was inspired by the band pixies, to go for a "Loud then quiet" type of vibe (even choosing Steve Albini, a producer from pixies)
Yes sir, Cobain even stated he was trying to rip off them haha
@@enriquepastor3626 Being heavily influenced by another band isn't ripping them off.
Every artist you listen to will have been influenced by someone else.
It's like saying any grunge band that came after Kurt passed is trying to rip off Nirvana.
@@Astrophobia88 im not against Nirvana, it’s my favorite band ever, I’m just telling that is something he even said publicly. I don’t think they’re a ripoff band haha
@@enriquepastor3626 Aye fair enough man. I just hear this comparison all the time and ive also seen that vid on TH-cam where they are talking about the whole Pixies thing.
Im a fan of both bands. I dont think Nirvana sound that much like Pixies, other than the mad screaming and the "Quiet, Loud dynamic"
I think Kurt was being humble, or not serious when he said he ripped them off. He was definitely influenced, but even Kurt knew he didnt rip anyone off.
Nirvana were unique and still are to this day. Cobain a much better singer and asongwriter than Black Francis from Pixies imo
Reason Pixies never reached mainstream hieghts and Nirvana did, is because Nirvana were a much more rounded band. Their songs hit meaning with a lot of people, that was nothing to do with pixies. Kurt should have gave himself more credit.
He was obsessed with Pixies though, by sounds of it. For good reason too, they're a great band.
RIP Steve :(
you should react to the official last Nirvana song ( You Know You're Right ) released in 2002
RIP Steve Albini. He died very soon after your video - this is one of the last pieces of major media covering his work while he was alive
Also Aaron Rash did an interview mere days before Steve was gone...
Most of us who heard this stuff as it was released, heard it in this order:
Nevermind
Bleach
Insesticide
In Utero
MTV Unplugged
You Know You're Right (final single)
Bleach wasn't widely known until Nevermind was being played everywhere. Nirvana changed the music industry from Michael Jackson to Pixies.
Great videos! 👍🏻☕️
with the lights out box set is good too
@ktmloveyou Sure. But I was only including major releases that Kurt created for official material. The box set is popular but came out long after '94. You Know You're Right was released as an afterthoughtht, but it was intended as a full-fledged track. And MTV Unplugged was also a recent recording at the time, but was released as an album as well. Everything that came after were old recordings that Kurt wouldn't have released officially. Instead, he would have made new versions of those unreleased songs if he ever planned to put them out. They just weren't intended for the public. They were his personal stash. Live From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah was released because DGC records wanted some cash. Even though that version of Aneurysm is better than the studio version, I didn't include it either. I'm talking about Kurt's intentional releases only. That's all we had for many years. Aside from bootlegs, rarities, & the Muddy Banks live album.
I had bleach in 90’. I was blown away
@nicholaskruger9460 Right. It wasn't widely known. Meaning, it was known by some. But wasn't & still isn't as widely known as Nevermind.
Nevermind, In Utero, Live At The Paramount, Bleach, Insecticide, Unplugged Concert, You Know You’re Right is my order of discovery
A lot of songs have Dave grohl as a backup singer to Kurt cobain
Fun fact: dave grohl did the beginning to territorial pissings on the studio album
@@artlOudwasn’t that krist who did that?
@@Carl-J my fault, mixed them up. But yes it was krist
Rip Steve Albini, you will be missed.🕊️
Cant wait for my sibling thank you tamerail ❤
I do be that little annoying brother 🥰
Try Live and Loud! Nirvana’s best concert.
Also Live At The Paramount
Live, Tonight, Sold Out is a great live compilation 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bleach is absolutely the most raw Nirvana album in terms of overall aggression and intensity, In Utero is more rough around the edges with very intense moments sprinkled in, what it represents is really the culmination of Nirvana as a band and of Kurt's own artistic expression.
It's not really commercial, considering the time that it came out, if anything, this album redefined what commercial was for the 90s.
Kurt explained a lot of his lyrics himself - as well as his approach to lyric writing - in the book Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana, by Michael Azzerad. Azzerad interviewed Kurt for 25 hours, and got explanations of at least parts of every one of the songs on the three main albums. The explanations you get on lyric sites are usually people's interpretations rather than what Kurt himself said his lyrics were about.
FINALLY IN UTERO WAS WELL WAITED
i'm literally shocked by his ability to ignore all disgust, frustration, misery and anxiety nested in this album.
Especially the 4th track
Yeah he has no idea about anything the songs are about either lmao.
Too literal in his interpretation and viewing everything through Cobain’s suicide.
Incesticide is a collection of the best B-sides, rare tracks, BBC session recordings, a non-album single and unreleased songs up to that point. It's stuff which didn't fit with the heavy rock theme of Bleach or the commercial direction of Nevermind and is a really worthwhile collection.
Nope. Its not true it didn’t fit with bleach. It was singles and just before bleach.
I love watching European Matt smith react to nirvana, your actually wel funny u got me laughing the whole hole video
Matt Smith is European 💀
Dirt by Alice In Chains would be a great addition to your channel, it’s a lot more metal than punk but it’s still under that same grunge banner (also just about every song, including the album title, is a heroin reference)
REACT TO INCESTICIDE
This video i´ve kept roasting you guys more than ever before :)
And I'm all for it!
R*** Me was about a Vanity Fair article that came out in early 1993 or so. In the article, Kurt felt the reporter screwed over him and Courtney. It was a big deal when it came out as it outed them as junkies and they nearly lost their child. So a little context for that song.
false, the song was already written before 92
rapur me is such a good song
Rapur 😭😭😭😭
if you're gonna listen to foo fighters go in chronological order (self titled, colour and the shape etc...) cuz in my opinion the first 2 albums are the best
Idk if you check comments on "older" videos but Lana Del Rey covered Heart Shaped Box, in case you're interested in reacting to it
RIP Steve Albini ❤
its not an album, but the last song they ever recorded is "you know you're right" that was recorded a couple months before he died, which also has a video occupying it of footage of the band playing live and of kurt cobain. might be a good listen after incesticide and unplugged :)
Dude you gotta do unplugged in New York, hopefully you can do the MTV video instead of just the album. The MTV video is AMAZING
You gotta hear the B-Sides & outtakes, too! "I Hate Myself And Want To Die", "Marigold", "Sappy", & "Moist Vagina"! 😄
I Hate Myself & Want To Die was a song that originally released on a Beavis & Butthead compilation album. The title was poking fun at people, who didn't know Kurt, that viewed him as a chronically depressed & self loathing person, which basically all his friends dispute. But, yeah, things did become very different later on after it was written.
Marigold is a lesser known fan favourite, and the only Nirvana song where Dave Grohl sings lead vocals.
Sappy was one of Kurt's favourites, & had been a work in progress since at least 1988! He really saw something in that song!
Moist Vagina is... It just is... But it was my favourite for a while! 😂
These are included on the deluxe version of In Utero, which are also on streaming services!
This was a great video, by the way! :)
42:40 They already had a violin on Something in the way and dumb
cello
Could you please react to some Oasis album, either definitly maybe or (what's the story) morning glory
Incesticide is the best. In Utero is really good too but i cant compare.
worst take I've ever seen
All good
Are you doing this to seem different or are you a genuine psychopath?
There’s no such thing as a bad nirvana album
@@Juan-wo7zu No, i really love Incesticide and FOR ME, in my musical taste, Incesticide is the best. I feel like it combines perfectly the grooves from bleach, the commercial lyrics and riffs from Nevermind and the experimental punk noise from In Utero. From all these 4 great albums, my fav is Incesticide and is definetly the one i had most listen and affect. I agree that In Utero is a huge classic masterpiece of punk, but it just not get me so hard as Aneurysm or Turnaround. Maybe im a psycho, but if i am, then the soundtrack of my murders is for sure any music from Incesticide.
HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS GUY
Wow it's the album itself. Hello Mr In Utero 👋
@@tamerail hello there cool guy!
Quite refreshing to watch a reaction video where I feel like it genuinely is the first time you've listened to it. Good work!
why do you talk in 0.75x
Usually I'd talk too fast for the AI to recognize my words
also.... I'm drunk and my brain be lagging sometimes
You should listen to Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins at some point if you haven't already
Can't wait for you to hear Nirvana's "Unplugged" album
Excellent video once again brother, you crack me up xd! Please do Primus Frizzle Fry, by judging your tastes in music so far I'm sure it will change your life.
Its cool you did Bleach and talk about the aggressive songs Incesticide has a few I think youll like Stain track 3
The MTV live is a brilliant performance. I would highly suggest that one first
Just found the channel and I am loving your deep dives into various artists and music.
Please react to Suede - Dog Man Star full album
You have to listen to "you know you're right"
unplugged now, shows kurt’s gutair ability’s and vocal range and beautiful performance. His last big bang before he died. think only 2 songs from the unplugged didn’t mention death apart from that every song he picked in had death and the setting he wanted at the unplugged kurt wanted it to look like a funeral (ironic how it ended for him)
listen to you know your right, it deserves its own video
next react to incesticide
I don't really make comments but dude.. you fucking make me laugh man 😂😂 and nirvana are my favourite band or was 😎
Just as a note, if you do the color and the shape by the foo fighters. The recording of drums on that recorded wasn’t their previous drummer Taylor Hawkins (RIP) or William Goldsmith, it was actually Dave he did guitar and drums for that record which is why Goldsmith left.
this album is the opposite of being recorded with commercial success in mind lol
If u do MTV unplugged Id watch the actual video of the concert because it makes it such more impactful fantastic live album
The Prodigy (another great band) sampled 'Very Ape' on the song 'Vodoo People'. Well worth a listen
I had all Nirvana albums saved in my high school computer profile and one day my teacher logged in and was getting a kick playing them he got to Hairspray Queen on Insecticide and goes boy you have to be on drugs to like this 😂 it made everyone laugh. You got 15 songs on that album get ready!✌👍
Opening up the video with a your mom joke was not was I expected
Another great reaction, thanks. I would assume Nirvana Live and Unplugged is the live album you have hinted at listening to. I strongly suggest you listen to Nirvana Live at the Paramount, Seattle / 1991. Everything about it is excellent. Pro shot on onb 16 mm film so it visually very appealing. The band is already famous but not so famous that it's destroying them. Hands down one of the best records of Nirvana at their best.
live at paramount should be there also, good video btw
Love it brother, great video
should definitley check out the Foo Fighters.
The Color And The Shape is their most popular album, but if you want a more personal listening experience then I definitley reccomend their first record, the Foo Fighters self titled album. It was fully made by Dave Grohl about a year after Nirvana ended and he later recruited band members to start playing it
"Moderate Rock" was used in the Hal Leonard guitar tab books to describe virtually every Nirvana song I think they just used it to describe every rocks song that fell in a certain BPM range. It's not a standard practice to write some kind of description of the genre of the music at the start of a piece of sheet music It was just something in the Hal-Leonard ones
Now It's time to go listen to the roots of heavy metal, Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Absolutely check out their live shows. Not just Unplugged, but the other ones too. Live at the Paramount and Live in Reading are my favorites. They had this ridiculous, chaotic energy onstage that was just so fun to watch, and while each of their studio albums sort of showcased a different side of them as a group, their live performances captured who and what they really were as a band so much better than any album individually ever could have. The closest record to that live energy is probably Incesticide, because it was just a compilation of demos and B-sides that they'd done, all jumbled together in one set, just like one of their shows, and I like that a lot. I also recommend checking out the music video for Heart-Shaped Box. It's weird, gross, beautiful, confusing, and 100% totally Nirvana. The music video for In Bloom is also just really fun and funny.
BRO!!! REACT ON UNKNOWN PLEASURE, BY JOY DIVISION
Pls react to system of a down they did the wake up thing
in utero is by far my favourite nirvana record and pretty close to my favourite album of all time. only ones i think are better are dirt by Alice in Chains and my favourite being Superunknown by Soundgarden. you should definitely listen to those two albums as well!
I love that your drinking a beer and listening to nirvana it’s great leave for live in New York for last please it’s so much better
you need to listen incesticide and their last song "you know you're right"
You need to listen to some Alice in chains if you like Nirvana bro
This is amazing album. The guitar that was used Most of the time was an aluminum guitar called the Veleno and the distortion is a pedal called the sansamp and for the crazy part of the tone he used an echo Flanger and the amp was a quad reverb with a blown speaker and one of the power tubes missing wich gave the amp that cool tone. Also on all apologies Kurt used a guitar he nicknamed the Ferrington wich was a guitar made by Danny ferrington. Also if you listen Kurt brought his acoustic guitar called the stela harmony that was strung with 5 nylon strings. Also r$pe me is an anti rape song. Also can you react to nirvana live at the paramount.
hey man. please react to nirvana live at paramount. yes they do play songs youve reacted to already but the ENERGY. you MUST react to nirvana live at paramount PLEASE (with the visuals cuz duh)
An album that heavily influenced Kurt Cobain, particularly his guitar playing, is 'Raw Power' by The Stooges (1973). It's actually an essential classic if you're diving into hard rock. Iggy Pop on vocals and Ron Asheton on guitar 🔥
love ur videos could u listen to some metallica?
I used to play Steve vai and buckethead who is a good writer but kurt was something else
I think its just right that you start with Foo Fighters now that your done with Nirvana 😁
REACT TO KICK I BY ARCA PLSSSS 🩷🩷🩷
Great video overall I love nirvana and although there’s just insecticide left basically(btw you should totally listen to it) but there is a band that might be so loud that it will blow you harder than my mom has blown you every Sunday. It’s called slipknot and you should listen to there 1st album 1999 self titled. If you do I would greatly appreciate it
The bends next
It's certainly something when a song you've grown up listening to (All Apologies) finally clicks in the most heartbreaking way possible.
man ur "jokes" are great LOL, seriously though, im always waiting for what you have to say about every other song and speaking too early alot, i was waiting for radio friendly unit shifter ALL VIDEO.
also 39:26 slight? it doesnt look very slight to me lol. also that violin was a cello, its also heard on dumb, something in the way and polly, also they did hire a cellist for the album AND live shows from the i utero tour, great video, thnacks! (i just watched the entire video and you did mention the cello lol)
MTV was broadcasting a Nirvana Concert on New Years Eve 1993, and there was an aura of desperation over the whole thing. I wasn't surprised when I heard that he killed himself four months later.
brothah u gotta chill with the jokes lmao
I have an album recommendation for you. You should really listen to Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division, it's in my opinion the best album of all time but that's just my opinion. You should definitely listen to it.
This is one of my favourite albums of all time, so cool you did this :) You should also do Arctic Monkeys
I wish you'd seen their music videos, they're fking awesome and really elevate the songs imo. Especially Heart-Shaped Box, that one's pure art 🙌
Hopefully you check them out by yourself!
All apologies blew my mind when I was a kid😅
Amazing, hugely raw sounding album through and through, one of my fav albums not just by Nirvana but in all of rock. That sound is just spectacular, and I'll give that credit to Steve Albini who produced it, and who just recently passed. RIP. 🤘
@tamerail you’re my favorite reaction/reviewer! Any chance you will venture into industrial from around the same era? Nine inch nails or skinny puppy?
RIP Steve Albini ❣️
Watch out for the unplugged album, you'll like it even more than this one

bro i keep getting roasted while watching his videos XD
você poderia escutar o with the lights out
Hearing Heart-Shaped Box on the radio last year or something was what made me interested in Nirvana and now I’m a huge fan (and not a fake one!)
Where do these websites get their lyrics? They all repeat the same - wrong - lyrics. It's like someone, somewhere, made a guess and then it just got repeated over and over and over...
"Everything's my fault;
I'll take all the blame;
I'll concede from shame."
OMG it actually makes sense! What? Aqua seafoam shame? Look, Kurt didn't annunciate lyrics clearly - for different reasons - but "aqua seafoam shame?" Seriously?
It may be a bit of a jump but opeths blackwater park definitely needs your attention..!!!! Hauntingly beautiful yet devastating at the same time 🖤
