So great to see you smiling and in the garden today. Don't overdo it, and still take the time to elevate and rest. The best part of resting is the dreaming and planning for future projects. I just booked my knee replacement, and recovery will fit in with next year gardening season. Priorities, right !!! 😂
I had my knee replacement late September because my Pennsylvania garden doesn’t need me right now! I’ll be very ready (come spring) to be back to gardening.
Four years ago broke both ankles/surgery at same time and double cast 12 weeks off feet. 3 years ago 1st total knee replacement. Tomorrow 2nd total knee replacement. Cant wait to garden again in the spring. It is what gets me thru thinking of gardening. Love this site. Heal and be safe! Listen to your doctor. Take all the help offered Janey!

Oh my goodness. Removal of the swoop and the other odd beds at the front looks so good. What a difference. So nice you have the two young men to help out. They are such hard workers. So much fun watching the progress.
My guess is that your guest is Jim Putnam. Seems like he is making his way around to special gardeners. Love that Jason moved the outdoor couch to the front.

I love that your memory of this time is going to be filled with the love your friends and family showed you by taking care of you, your family, and your garden, its just so heartwarming.
It's so wonderful that you can see the fuchsia flowers from the couch in front of the house. Maybe rethink blocking off that area with screens. At the end of a long day gardening, sitting on that couch admiring all the beauty is priceless.
You are so blessed to have folks to help you carry on your vision even in your down time. So inspiring and uplifting.
It’s looking a great, and it’s lovely to hear the excitement and happiness in your voice.
Can I only make one suggestion? Before you put in gazebos etc, buy any trees and plant them sooner rather than later. I’ve lived where I am for going on six years, but I only seriously started on the garden three years ago and was putting in flowers and shrubs, but not enough trees. If I’d made up my mind sooner, they’d be growing so well by now and I’d have shade for the shade loving plants I so desperately want to put in. I live in a climate very similar to you, and the sun and heat can be relentless over Summer.
I'm just putting a guess out there - but maybe Jim Putnam from HortTube?!?! He's making a tour of the states and that would be fun! Here's another thought: when you get more black paint for the guys to finish off the fence, it would look real nice to have the no-till beds painted black as well. I'm really enjoying watching your new land come together!
Welcome back, Janey! Great to hear your effervescent voice again. Be careful on that scooter. There are alot of uneven surfaces around your yard, so be careful that you do not hurt yourself again. Wow, those 2 little boys did a great job taking out that stone wall "thing" at the front of the house. It looks soooo much better. Also, great job by you and your parents with planting all those plants before winter. Your parents also did a great job outlining the path as per Michael Glassman's garden plan. Also, Jason did a fantastic job cleaning out the barn. Amazing! It looks so nice and clean now. Well done to you all.
Amazing how different the front bed looks without the swoop!! Love how now the house is the focal point when you enter the property! 🏡
Your yard is looking so good, Janey. I love the couches on the front deck. It really makes it look welcoming. Everyone has worked so hard and accomplished so much. You truly are blessed.

Looking good. You are loved. When those leaves fall, make sure and keep them in a big pile. You can mix with you veg and garden waste to make you compost. Helps so much each year to top things up.

Wow, just wow!! This house was meant to be yours Janey!! In a few short months, you’ve transformed it into such a stunning place!! Sooooo good!! I live in Ottawa, Canada and our weather has started turning colder now which means our planting season is coming to an end for the winter. Seeing all the changes and new adventures in your home/garden .. and your positive and smiling disposition .. simply brightens my day. So much progress has been made in spite of your health set backs. You are blessed in both family and friends. It’s great to see you up and doing well in your recovery.
I do not usually make comments .but, you are such a joy to watch.Please take good care of yourself so you can get back in the garden.Love your enthusiasm .That is something we in common .I am in 10a zone , which gives a very long growing season . My first frost is mid December and last is March 1st..Summer is brutal and it starts in June and last throughout September. I never worry about winter covering ,but how to survive summer.My garden is mostly in pots now because I'm Almost eighty.,old enough to be your grandmother. Love the no dig method. Blessings to you and all your helpers.
I wonder if a few center shelving units in the middle of the workshop would help utilize the space more? It’d be cool if you could have some sturdy ones with locking casters on them and then you could arrange and rearrange them as you accumulate more tools and equipment. 🤔

So glad you're removing that sodium light and putting up a hooded barn light. A hooded light is very friendly to migrating birds that fly at night!

I am so curious as to why you/Michael are keeping such a huge asphalt driveway all around? Is there a purpose for it? If there isn’t why not eliminate all to the right of the long driveway. Maybe I’m missing something 😊
You are doing such a great job of staying positive despite all that has happened! A broken leg would be so difficult as a gardener and you are doing great. Amazing you have lots of people around you to help too. Loving your garden and yes I can imagine the future look of what you explained!

So glad you got that front swoop thing removed! I would have had to tear it out on day 1! Everything is coming together! Heal fast
Suggestion about the front flower bed that you have the irises in...don't transplant the flowers right now. Just take out the structure of the bed and leave the dirt mound as a berm with all your bulbs and plants in so you can enjoy all the spring blooms. If you aren't doing any of Michael Glassman's plans in that area for awhile then at least just leave the plants to enjoy until ready to restructure!

What a difference the removal of the front "swoop" bed. It truly opens up the vista to the new design. The garage looks incredible - can't wait to see the new light. Everything in moderation for now Janey, even though you are champing at the bit. So nice to see you out in your garden.
Janey, you are such an inspiration. When I feel overwhelmed and not focused, I can just look at how far you have come in the last few years. This week I have planned goals for my garden and farm for next year. I am going to just take it one day at a time. Get well soon.

How long after you set up the no till with cardboard and compost do you plant? 🤔 My husband is 76 and I am trying to find an easier way for him to create my beds. I am old and disabled myself so I do the pointing and he does the work. Thank God he is in such good shape 🙏 I will add that we just moved her a year ago, and tilled and added potting mix to a perimeter bed (straight lined) around our yard with a couple of circle beds. Boring I know, but, we moved many plants with us, and after over wintering them in pots, we had to quickly get them in the ground come spring. I live in Texas on the gulf coast in zone 9b. The heat, humidity, and drought was tough, but, most survived. I am glad that I found you through Jim's garden tour and excited to watch your garden come to life. Thank you for your very informative video. Take care of yourself. It is wonderful how your family & friends helped you. Such a blessing 🙏
