Do you know that alstroemerias are long lasting vase flowers? However, don’t CUT the stems, rather pull them out grabbing at the base. That stimulates the plant to grow more. If you plant it in the ground it will spread over time! They are easily divided as well but the fleshy stems are a bit delicate so care must be given while handling them. I have several colors of them including the cream ones. I have them growing in full sun & part sun to almost full shade. Great plants!

Janey, your garden is stunning., I especially love your Star Jasmine and the way that you have trained it around the front of your house. You sure have created a 'WOW' factor in your garden. The attention to detail in your garden is amazing. Your red and blue flowers have inspired me to plant some red flowers. They are so beautiful together. Sometimes it is nice to grow flowering plants that are not part of our usual garden colour palate. I just wish that I could use PW petunias here however they don't seem to do well in subtropical climates.

I'm in Zone 9B, soaking in all these knowledge from you. I have several shady areas that get sun first thing in the morning and I think an hour later becomes shade. Now, let's talk about that lovely vine against your wall. Do you have a video on how you created that? It's absolutely beautiful!

Nice new plant additions to your garden! In case you haven't tried this, I would recommend cutting back your licorice plant to see if it will fill in some. I think it's a nice contrast to the pink and blue flowers, although it has become a little out of control. Cutting it back might be what it needs.

Oh my goodness, your setup on your dining room table just filled my heart. I love it.
Could I make a product suggestion? I would love something small to carry around for deadheading flowers. Either hard like a bucket or pretty basket, or collapsible like a kangeroo popup but small, like a bathroom trashcan size. And CUTE, in your brand of colors with the logo. Right now I use a Lowes plastic bucket and it is NOT giving me garden joy. 😄

Looking forward to seeing how the clematis intermingles with the star jasmine! I just planted star jasmine beside happy Jack Clematis. I put a 1gph emitter on them both and they get oversprinkled by neighbors yard. They're in full sun, zone 8a. I'll see how they do💚
Looking forward to receiving my order. If you ship with USPS, they offer a package pickup service. That way you don't have to lug your packages to ship them!

Early morning is one of my favorite times in the garden too, it is the quietest as far as human noise but the birds are singing their loudest. I love Alstromeria, they even survive the winter here in the mountains despite the snow. My clematis are going crazy right now, they loved the winter wet. That Nelly Moser will look gorgeous there. I debated over a Brunnera yesterday when I was at a local garden center, I may need to go back and get it. I like how you work with those tricky spots that can be sunny and shady. I jumped on here to watch to see where you got the Puffer Fish Hydrangea, I was hoping you would say Green Acres. One of our local garden centers does special orders so I should call them to see if they can order it for me.

That walkway area is looking absolutely gorgeous!
I live in southeastern NC, zone 8a, where it is hot and sultry all summer. Several years ago I planted a star jasmine and Dr. Ruppel clematis on opposite sides of a trellis. That was not a good plan. The jasmine is a vigorous grower and totally overwhelmed the clematis. I have seen about six clematis blooms since then. Maybe yours will work out differently.

I deal with something called tobacco worms. I’ve been calling them budworms for the last couple of years because everyone else called them bud worms… But I’m starting to realize budworms are green and the ones that I’m dealing with are called tobacco worms or tobacco bud worms. The BT I’ve been spraying on a weekly basis is not helping at all! And it’s not just a little problem, it’s literally attacking everything in my garden!! I’ve been starting to read more on BT and I don’t even think it affects tobacco worms. It barely affects budworms! I’ve been hearing that BT is really just for caterpillars. Is there any advice Janey or anyone else can give me? I’m so over all of the holes in everything and having to kill tobacco worms on a daily basis, that I’m thinking about just scaling back on my garden next year because I don’t even wanna deal with this anymore!
