The whole BOV argument seems kinda dumb. Never seen a turbo killed from running no BOV, but I've killed one by using an HKS foam air filter. Good way to breathe dirt and kill your seals.
If there was any noticeable lag from removing the blow off valve it wouldn't be so common in drift cars that are constantly off and on throttle, also make a metal intake pipe as it makes it a lot louder.
I did this on my wrx back it the day and it made the car terrible to drive due to the huge lag during shifts. It took like an extra 2-3 seconds to come back up on boost after shifting compared to running a BOV. engine size, turbo size and the rpm when shifting would have a lot to do with it i would say
Sorry I hate to say it but that's just not entirely true. That vacuum line also acts like a pressure line under boost to help keep it closed so it doesn't have a recirculated boost leak, the spring in it only holds back so much by itself.
now, even with those negatives, the one positive outweighs all of them together and thats the sweet song of our people choo chooing away in the tunnels
Can you do a video explaining squared and staggered wheel/tire setups in terms of drifting and also grip driving. Explain how a wider tire in the rear affects handling characteristics and also how tire compound plays into it too.
It doesnt hurt as bad for throttle release flutter, but if you try to do 3rd gear 30 pull, and it flutter through 100% throttle openage it would be hella' bad
Why not just vent the BOV to atmosphere? Only downside to that is the stock ecu wont compensate for the lack of air and you might get some sick pops when shifting under boost
I'm pretty certain it doesn't work like that. The vented air doesn't "stay" in the intake regardless. So recirculating or venting to atmosphere shouldn't make any difference to your car.
@@strider5119 He's going to be wearing out the turbo faster than before trying to get the flutter, especially if it is fluttering on acceleration since the air is trying to come back through the compressor. I get that some people want to do it for the sound, but there are more efficient ways. My evo is VTA though a hks ssqv and I'll take it any day over flutter
Factory 20det turbo will last a bit on factory psi with no bov anything over 14psi will smash the factory turbo apart, I know from experience man hope that helps
What you could do is tighten the bov spring and and then you would get a stutututu but then at a certain psi the bov could open also giving you the pshhhhh
Hmmm, everyone says that you should run a bead all the way around the center hole, then put the plate on it and crush the bead half way, let it dry then bolt it down snuggly, and it should make a thick gasket, instead of a paper thin 1, im curious to know how long the way you made it will last.
Thats it lads get some of that good old turbo surge . Get those vanes nice and bent fuck your turbo and your performance right up just to make a bit of noise .
Funny that doesn't seem to be an issue for the countless people not running a blow off valve, you would think it would be really noticeable in a drift car that is constantly on and off throttle but yet it's very common for people not to run a valve.
could have just put the block of plate between the bov and intake piping and just got big bolts if needed and then you wouldnt have to remove any of the piping lol and would still look stock lol
But great vid offbeat garage, what tool was the one you used to take off the bov. I know its a ryobi cordless it looked like 1/2" 18v. Is that correct? If not can you tell me which one and the model number would be great. Cheers
You could have just installed the plate between it's Mount and your bov/recirculating valve... would have had the same results with easier reversal. Turbo fins could explode possibly reaching your pistons. Knowledgeable people I'm sure were like wtf as did I. We all try stuff and ignore truth. Hopefully we learn before major damage happens.
Just blocked mine on my GTST. Everywhere I have looked I have not found anyone say that is the reason there turbo has gone. Only people say it will do it, but no proof yet. So if mine goes I guess that will settle that. Until then I will have the TUTUTU all day every day. Haha
Why don't u get a cheap bov off eBay and tighten it to much and get a louder flutter sound because it is coming from the valve and not hurt the turbo too much....
Twisted Motion gots you on a turbo upgrade for the stock manifold if you need it, Adel your my favorite, I've been watching your buttery engineering since the beginning, I love you :-| lol haha
If the turbo isn't under load, it doesn't matter which direction the air is flowing. It just slows the turbine down, (not by much considering this little fucker is a high speed spinny boi) it doesn't spin the opposite direction or damage anything. But if you got flutter while your foot is still on that gas pedal you'd better fix your shit or you're forking out cash for a new superstustustuslickboosty Nagasaki noisy boi.
@@yooboi8620 yeah and it is just like tuning car more hp more it uses gas and more fun and no bov might wear down turbi faster but that doesnt matter shit that sound is mostvsexiest thing ever
i cant believe you didnt record turbo flutter sounds at the end of the video. its the essential part of any turbo flutter video
if it killed the turbo, no one would be doing it.. even if it did ruin the turbo, the flutter is worth it XD
It doesnt. If the flutter is when the throttle is closed its ok but if its during the spool then your screwed.
I heard there's a difference to rather you have a ball bearing turbo or a regular one. the ball bearing turbo won't give a shit about a deleted bov
if cigarettes killed people, no one would be doing it. that's your logic.

im running my drift car without a bov for a very long time and that more lag and your turbo gonna blow up shit is a myth.
If there was any noticeable lag from removing the blow off valve it wouldn't be so common in drift cars that are constantly off and on throttle, also make a metal intake pipe as it makes it a lot louder.
Bingo... for drift purposes it actually helps response due to it not releasing all the charge pipe pressure all at once. Great for pedal modulation.

@@festa289 WRX ecu doesn't like not running one, that is the ECU causing the issue not the turbo slowing down because of flutter.
@@DriftNick you could be right. i might pull the vac line off the BOV on my 2J tomorrow and see if it makes a difference
Why didnt you bolt the bov on with the plate in place so you didnt have to cap everything off?
You literally could have just unplugged the vacuum line and it would make the bov not work and it would just acked as a block off plate.
Sorry I hate to say it but that's just not entirely true. That vacuum line also acts like a pressure line under boost to help keep it closed so it doesn't have a recirculated boost leak, the spring in it only holds back so much by itself.
Joshua Hebert well recirculating bov’s must be different because what I just said is what I do on my 1jz vvti with a HKS bov and it works perfect
@@Brenninv well I do t know how much boost your running but if it works for you. But for me it was leaking with my stock SR bov.

Can you do this with a bpv (2020 veloster n) do I need to take the recirculating hose off and plug the hole or can I just block off the bov?
As if you wouldn't put a noise clip in before and after?
where is flutter sound?
Why didn’t you just leave the plate on the blow off valve just Incase you want to use it again you wouldn’t have to cut and cap anything ?
Won't the turbo be a runaway after getting rid of the valve ?
The BOV is on the cold side of the turbo so no. The back-pressure will actually slow down the turbine I believe.
