Have you ever tried/ wanted to try psychedelics for medical/recreational purposes? Would love to hear your experiences if so!

I’ve thought about it to treat my recurring depression, but I’ve heard they shouldn’t be taken with anti-depressants & I’m wary of them.

Would like to, but unsure if the benefits outweigh the risks for me, or what exactly the risks are.

I’ve tried LSD once, and psilocybin twice.
The former is definitely more user-friendly, but I preferred the experience of the later. Imagine the difference between eating a gummy candy vs trying to mask the taste of chewy, foul-tasting fungi by mixing them into a Taco Bell burrito. I had a wicked bad tummy ache for the first 10% of my trip, but the remaining 90% was an emotional watershed for me (on top of it being an awesome day-long experience). I pretty much just laid in bed the whole time, but experienced all of existence. I felt so much better emotionally for months after.
My little gummy bear was an interesting experience in the moment, but it didn’t have any noticeable, lasting benefits after.
Side note: it was so cool discovering Together Pangea during my fungus adventure. Seeing the album artwork for Badillac was so visually interesting at the time, and following that up with the music video for Cat Man was amazing.
Props to Oregon for their steps to help advance these treatments.

I've done a good few psilocybin trips, and found them to be an opening experience. I prefer to do it alone and focus on a issue to self reflect on. IME it has no unique benefit, but has likely catalysed my brain accepting a new way of functioning (less negative and anxious). However, I could probably have achieved the same effect with more time whilst sober, and cannabis use had temporarily increased my depersonalisation and its likely psilocybin did too.

      I have tried MDMA once (80mg) and taken 1V-LSD 4 times. (100μg, 250μg, 325μg, 125μg)
Every drug has been tested beforehand. Every Trip spaced apart by 4-20 weeks. 4 Weeks was too short, In hindsight I would recommend >6 weeks.
This is really hard for me to describe since my mother tongue is german, but I'll try my best.
ACID: The experiences were pretty demanding but positive. The beauty and euphoria you get to experience is unlike anything else. In the background there is always a feelings of curiosity, confusion and indecisiveness. I kind of felt like a little toddler seeing the beauty of the world for the first time, but also in need of guidance. This is why a loving Tripsitter or at least a person you can trust is very important. Also check beforehand, that you won't be disturbed and you are not responsible for any important tasks. This will prevent you from overthinking or getting overwhelmed.
Would recommend: Going into nature, Tripping right after getting out of bed(since you won't be able to sleep for 10h), listening to music, socialising (Keep a hat, sunglasses and headphones in case you want privacy quickly)
Definitly avoid: Cars, tripping if you have schizophrenia
Could be problematic: tripping alone, mirrors
Aftermath: Immediately stopped smoking weed, completely removed my social anxiety, made me more confident and more open minded.
MDMA: Everything I did felt amazing (mostly dancing and talking). While talking barriers caused by trauma were removed, but I still was completely in controll of what I wanted to say. I can definitly see how this could benefit therapie.
Aftermath: I did not experience a hangover, but I felt a strong need of love for about a week and I would not take it again, while being single.

Psychedelics are great, one time I was trippin on too much acid and I was staring at a fire pit and the fire pit turned into a mini world with little people and buildings, it was 2 years ago and it's such an experience to remember. would love to try out the psilocybin mushrooms next, just don't know where to get them, so hard to come by

Plant medicines like the mushrooms have been proven to bring many positive effects on overall mood and serotonin production after just one use. Additionally, micro-dosing is very beneficial to productivity and overall feelings of happiness.

The good thing about LSD is its non addictive, the best experience I've EVER had on ANY drug was LSD, I've been so happy my face literally hurt from smiling so much for so many hours, but but once the trip wears off the last thing I'm thinking about is dropping another trip, you need time to recover, the closest I'd ever had trips together were a week apart but usually months or years, having said that it's been 10yrs since the last time but certainly would again given the right time and setting

I loveeeee psychedelics, so far I’ve done acid, dmt, mushrooms, and 2-cb. I take a trip about once every 6 months to help with my extreme suicidal urges and it’s really worked for me, it’s like seeing behind the curtain of what’s going on in my brain and I really get to reflect.

    Great video Fads!
I think that the main risk with psychedelic use is lack of education about them, leading reckless ignorant people to literally go crazy. With a consistent education about substances these risks would almost disappear, and I do believe that psychedelics could help humanity itself find its way again

In Countries like France, Germany, Japan, etc there are some legal derivatives of LSD, which the body converts into LSD (very simplified). Consider Mushrooms tho, because Acid Trips are really long and especially in the end very demanding. Always have a tripsitter (preverably someone nice and loving) who has basic understanding of what is going on inside of you and what could help. Avoid: Cars, People who judge, (Mirrors). Do not take if you have schizophrenia.

when I used to live in CT I signed up to be in a Yale study for Psilocybin and depression, but it took so long that by the time I was called in to participate in the study I had moved to the NC.
my point being: Why so much time, it's a medical study, why are we not letting these studies happen faster?

    • @cheeseburgerinparadise7124
      @cheeseburgerinparadise7124 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

If not controlled correctly and verified with multiple studies its not valid bro. We need a control and experimental group and replication of results with a statistical analysis, etc. Its a science thing.

I'm a very neurotic person. Consuming cannabis has induced some quite strong panic attacks, so I'm very skeptical that DMT would do anything but traumatize me. None of those who have similar experiences as me would apply to such a trial.

Hey Fads, I recently discovered your videos and they are really informative. I appreciate how you treat facts with the correct respect, as in you remind your viewers that one facts doesn't explain the whole picture of a topic.
Because of this, and because of your knowledge of psychology, I'd like to know if you'd be willing to make a video about psychotic illnesses. You see, I suffer from one of those and I've never gotten a satisfactory explanation of what it is and how it manifests. I've been struggling with this for years now, and I sort of recognise the symptom, but I'd love to learn more. I feel like you'd be able to inform me and others pretty well.
Thank you for your content, and keep this up!!

Also: Depends on what type. Dissociative psychedelics, such as ketamine, are amazing. Shrooms? Not as dissociative. Each has its own impact on our neurology. Its fascinating.

I largely used Google Scholar to find review papers and used that as a starting point! I also used connectedpapers.com too - it's a nifty website that allows you to enter one paper and find a bunch of related papers too.
But yeah, it's mostly knowing what to google and use that as a starting point! I also linked a few places in the description too.
