Such a good episode despite obvious limitations. That Ino hand-to-hand sequence is one of my favorites in JJK, and it gives me hope for Yuji vs Choso. The drawings were immaculate as well, especially during the Toji reveal. Definitely top-notch, but the overusage of slow-mo, close-ups and the aftermath of the attacks did bother me. Since it's a rather unimportant episode outside of the Toji scenes, I don't really mind.
Given the amount of big fights in this arc, I keep expecting the smaller fights like the one in this episode to show a considerable drop in quality, and yet they keep delivering each time which is so commendable. I have no clue how they can keep this up, given the upcoming insane fights.
@@hrithiknaagar127 but for mappa is even bigger. I wouldn't be surprised if they ruined some of the big fights considering the schedule and some terrible choices they take
This episode feels very limited in some parts and spectacular in others, I also feel that it needs not better choreography but clarity and fluidity between scenes, the change between many scenes feels too abrupt, especially in several moments of close combat , it is not a bad episode by itself, because it still has many good things, but it shows that it needed to be polished more.
The "only" real problem is with the department of JJK and CSM having almost the same core staff for the 2 shows. The only way of solving it would be to drop one of them, having more than 3 year break between each season of JJK and CSM or move CSM to another team.
Yeah we’ll probably never get the same kind of choreography as what park did in the series again. It seems the focus is more on effects and having a certain shot. I really don’t like the hits being off screen or sometimes they just don’t show them at all you just see the aftermath of the hit. Still a good episode for the most part.
Season 2 has a lot less h2h scenes in general. Jjk s2 episodes 3,4,7,9 had very good action. Even episode 2 had many good cuts of action animation and episode 1 also had some at the end of the episode. Those h2h scenes you're talking about all came from the second cour of the first season. Ep 19,17,24,13 etc. We will see what the action will be like after 12 episodes. If we compare the first 11 episodes of the first season with the 11 of the second, the second is better in terms of action.
@@luka-uw8ed that is probably because the first cour had only 3 major fights (Gojo vs jogo , sukuna vs megumi and mahito vs nanami) and except for sukuna vs megumi , both the other fights are better than the stuff we have had in season 2.

The thing that annoyed me this episode is that they used the ''show the result in slow motion instead of the actual thing that happenned'' so many times that it literally popped up in my head and so i instantly assumed that they were doing it to save on animations that therefore time. This over-reliance on showing the slowed down result of each attack made it so the fights felt constantly interrupted and so less fluid and it hard to follow. Way too much ''letting the brain fill in the blanks. As my brain was filling in the blanks fight kept moving on and so i felt like i'd missed even more stuff. I know it was a problem cause after the episode was finished i could hardly remember the fight sequences in order as they played out. There is not a good enough connection from shot to shot , to make them easy to remember. The art direction could be stronger but i didn't care much about that cause it was concistently solid and i just love the night aesthetic with the city lights. I'm worried but not too worried cause they seem to want to place more focus on the more important fights
Man just take an eternity but deliver quality episode , like why can't producers be patient enough , jjk literally put heart and soul to the animation till gojo past arc like in that past arc even low priority shots were done creatively , shibuya is sooo much hyped , I think it deserves more quality animation

After hearing about all the production issues happening, I’m glad Ao no exorcist season 3 went to a different studio (Studio Volin) and yet people are complaining because of a work in progress trailer they showed with 2 off model shots.
I'm curious to see what will come out of the new Blue Exorcist anime, since I am not familiar with most of the staff announced. It's tough to follow up on Okamura.
As someone who is very fussy about animation, jjk s2 has been pretty good so far, the locust fight did look kind of bad but it was a very minor fight, but the bald guy fight was very decently done for what it was. Huge fights coming up in the next episodes, as long as those look good I'm pretty happy.
I thought the animation was a little wonky this episode but as you mention there are still a lot of good highlights in the details/compositing. I'm sure this show is going to look better on blu-ray after we get corrections and no ghosting/dimming. This is one of the few series where I'd import it or wait for a US release of the blu-ray because it'll look twice as good.
In the U.S. there's a strike for the writers called WGA strike. (TL:DR) They were fighting for pay & the use of AI. I feel like in Japan, Animators should have a strike. They need better working space, salary, and breaktime. This is part of the reason why I don't pay for anime websites like Crunchyroll, since it doesn't go to the employees who hard carried the business.
nah man as a normal fan who literally just seen this video i noticed all of those. It felt very slow the zooms were odd weak impacts and felt very stiff at times
This season is definitely amazing but man the action just ain't hitting like season 1... I'm always slightly underwhelmed. For me the best action episode came from episode 3
If you compare the first 11 episodes of the first season to these 11 episodes of the second season, the action in the second season is much better. The best animated action came from the second cour of the first season, we will see how the JJK action will look like after 12 episodes in the second season.
Episodes 3,4,7,and 9 have been stellar. But I agree the actual hand-to-hand isn't as present with no Park. The upcoming Yuji v Choso fight in episode 13(?) will be our first real answer to how Season 2 handles it choreography.
I feel like they skipped the animations and always cut to impact was to use the dudes Inverse as an excuse for it making it feel like his technique interrupted/did something... Altough the storyboard this season has been weird and confusing sometimes with these less important fights...
I'm enjoying this season 2 of JJK , but it's clearly lacking something, i can't put my finger on it, the animation lack clarity, Fluidity overdose maybe? Especially if you look back at the fight in season 1. something clearly changed.
I am a FAN fan of Jujutsu Kaisen. It’s my love for the manga and anime that can make me wait a year for MAPPA to execute their craftsmanship as stress free as possible. I’m confident I’m not allow in this view, so why won’t these anime studio realize this and stop wearying their animators????
I think that the JJK staff have become mastered at masking the few issues that the shows production may have. Overal there is consistent satisfying animation and I expect some great stuff for the major fights, just like with Gojo vs the disaster curses. All they have to do is keep delivering good animation in between whilst nailing the overall feel of the city. Compositing, lighting/shading, etc.
Mappa probably should focus more on jjk than other stuffs. But I still like this episode more other than the low priority episodes. Ofc I won't be criticizing it since it really is a schedule issue for mappa and its animators.
It's not at all about the animation... the art is just awful.... it looks like a high school drew it in so many of the episodes. Some faces literally have zero shadows. It lacks so much detail.... it hurts to say this because I really really really enjoy the series as a whole..
They seem to really know what fights to prioritize. Case in point: Episode 8 was arguably the weakest episode in the whole series, while episode 9 was arguably the best episode in the whole series. Episode 8 was arguably the lowest priority fight in the entire series. Episode 9 was arguably the highest priority fight in the series this far, because of what it led up to. You can tell which episodes are getting that low priority treatment, mid priority treatment, high priority treatment, and spectacle treatment. This episode was somewhere in between medium to high. The fight choreography in this season is good, but noticeably more limited than in season one, most likely due the absence of sunghoo park. That’s fine because JJK fights really start leaning more into the spectacle side of things and leans a bit more away from choreography as the abilities and stakes get crazier, but there’s always been pretty heavy choreography and hands being thrown in JJK fights so I hope they continue to do it Justice. If MAPPA could chill out and take on a few less shows at a time, we wouldn’t even have to worry.
I don’t actually know animation enough to critique but if I had one I believe is GENUINE… it’s Toji’s eyes. The dark eyes obviously is just ominous and gave a certain “ okay it’s his ghost not him permanently back,” type ideal and it just fits. They have the eyes Toji should’ve had to the granny. I don’t understand that.
Well, no new jjk season that year so there will likely be more freelancers available + pierrot doesn’t need to work on a black clover movie during cour 3 + they will likely take some more time so, yeah, it will probably be a bit better
I like this season's animation and the style, but the fights are not good at all and I don't understand what the hell are people talking about. When I look at the action animation on season 1 and then here then season 1 is much much better. The choreography is the issue. In season 1 we had actual good choreography for the characters, but season 2 doesn't have that at all. Every fight so far was just slow motion and still shots. The characters are not even fighting with hands. I think the best way to see this is with the gojo/toji fight 1. There wasn't any choreography whatsoever. The fight consisted of smears of Toji and that's it. And then of course Toji killing Gojo. Gojo's blue saved the ep for me animation wise. Toji/Gojo 2nd fight had the same problem. There wasn't any choreography, but just still shots or slow motion shots, but I am giving that a pass, because I liked the ep... And of course Gojo getting sealed. The problems in that fight were noticable af. 1. crowd not moving almost at all (willing to let it slide because crowds are a pain) 2. Punches felt weird and disorienting because of so much cutting back and fourth. 3. No choreography at all. (again). 3. overreliance on slow motion. (again). Episode was saved with Gojo's domain scene and by the actual story. And now that I watched ep. 11 it had the same problems again. When I complained before, people told me to wait for Shibuya, because they throw hands straight away, but we are on ep 11 and there wasn't one fight scene that matched the same quality as season 1. And no I am not a MAPPA hater. I am one of the people that absolutely loved chainsaw man and prefer MAPPA's AoT over Wit's. They say they sacrificed detail for smooth animation, but the fights look janky and just bad when compared to season 1. Wow we have character animation and not just mouths flopping. And gorgeous backgrounds in fights, but fights are not as good... in ACTION anime.
What are ya talking about dude? Gojo vs toji literally had insane animation and half of the fight was anime original why you were expecting hand to hand combat in fights when they don't have that in the original source? And mahito vs mechamaru almost clears first half of season 1 alone. Almost all the episodes in s2 have amazing animation and the slow mo was only in this fight because obvious they had to follow the manga it was text heavy all of this seems like nit picking lol say that when actual hand to hand combat fights come for example ep 13 yuji vs chosso is gonna have full h2h decide after watching that only 2 weeks are left
@@JustAsh001 I didn't read the Manga so I am just an avarage watcher. The fact that I have to wait so much for this is already a bit weird. Season 1 had great action choreography in episode 2. I am gonna wait and see, but so far I am not impressed.

@@JustAsh001 Also season 2 overall feels very inconsistent. Season 1 had some real problems, but at least it was consistent, but season 2 had some inconsistency problems with the animation. Some eps look good, some very good, some absolutely terrible. And the vibe is Completely off. Idk if anyone else noticed this. It feels weird, Idk how to explain this. Season 1 had this very cool vibe to it, but season 2 is somewhat off. It's not about the animation. But more about that feeling when you watch a show. Maybe it's the more cartoony style clashing with what is happening or something. I don't really know...

I'm seriously sorry that I'm about to come off as a bit rude but you REALLY need to focus on your scripts because this is genuinely one of the most boring as well as annoying animation breakdowns. Like, you don't have anything specific to say about any of the scenes shown in the video 99% of the time. You just go like *"ALSO* this scene nice [inserts different positive adjectives every time] *HOWEVER* this scene- bad [inserts different negative adjectives]" Your content has been extremely repetitive and uninspired to the point where I can accurately just predict which word you're about to use now. The way you speak and the words you choose really add to your identity as a youtuber. But both of those sound way too robotic and AI-generated that it becomes a chore to watch it. Don't mistake me as a racist btw, I'm an indian myself. This is just one of your oldest subscribers expressing his humble opinion and I have already apologised for my rudeness but this is something I've been meaning to say for a long time and is your biggest flaw (YOUR SCRIPT) I know you've not been on youtube for a long time but criticising content creators is also my basic right as a viewer so please don't take it personally 👍🏻
In my opinion, this is the best looking Shibuya episode yet. I was a little disappointed by episode 9 (the Gojo one) because the action seemed very slow compared to the manga. Obviously manga doesn't have any animation but it still managed to look more snappy and thus more impactful, which is especially fitting to show how powerful Gojo is. I didn't like how long it took for Gojo to rip off Jogo's arm as well as Hanami's branch eyes. Hanami getting crushed by infinity also took longer than I would have liked. I guess it's the typical case of having specific expectations when you already know the manga and feeling disappointed when it turns out differently.
@@wolfbrigade8042indeed as a manga reader you go through the Jojo scenes thinking why is he standing on-top of hanami for a good 5 seconds straight? The animation was way more limited than this episode and they fact that people can't see it is hilarious
@@Hetsu.. I mean, I think episode 9 was animated and choreographed super well but I feel like it missed the mark when it's about the timing and the impact or certain scenes. As I've said, in the manga the fight seemed much faster and it looked like the disaster curses were absolutely outclassed (which they were) but in the anime it almost seems like Gojo had to try a little (in reference to how long it took him to snatch Jogo's arm and Hanami's eyes and how it took a good few seconds for Hanami to get crushed while it looked almost instant in the manga).
So far season 2 isn't bad but for me it's inferior to season 1. I like season 1 more than the manga but in season 2s case I like the manga more. I felt the same way about chainsaw man as I do with jjk season 2.

Just imagine if they took some time and animated the things without any hickups. It already looks very good. What could've been, Just imagine

10:34 noticed that while watching the episode yesterday , the timing of his voice and mouth were so weird
Mappa works on too much, They should've stuck to JJK & CSM.

Lol CSM is literally the only show related to JJK production, none of the other ones affect JJK production.
The "only" real problem is with the department of JJK and CSM having almost the same core staff for the 2 shows. The only way of solving it would be to drop one of them, having more than 3 year break between each season of JJK and CSM or move CSM to another team.

Season 2 has a lot less h2h scenes in general. Jjk s2 episodes 3,4,7,9 had very good action.

Toji frame is tooo good
nah man as a normal fan who literally just seen this video i noticed all of those. It felt very slow the zooms were odd weak impacts and felt very stiff at times
This season is definitely amazing but man the action just ain't hitting like season 1... I'm always slightly underwhelmed. For me the best action episode came from episode 3
Season 1 was was a lot of hand choreographed fights so it will feel that way lol
Cuz the director gave every bits of staff to the action department
If you compare the first 11 episodes of the first season to these 11 episodes of the second season, the action in the second season is much better. The best animated action came from the second cour of the first season, we will see how the JJK action will look like after 12 episodes in the second season.
True but at least the backgrounds and compositing (I still don't understand it's meaning) have been improved.
Especially if you look back at the fight in season 1. something clearly changed.
yeah something changed, season 2 is better

This was a beautiful episode but holy shit is there production isssues. Fans need to accept this lol
Mappa needs to learn how to create better schedules so the animators can do their jobs better
It lacks so much detail.... it hurts to say this because I really really really enjoy the series as a whole..
the latest episode has to be the worst animation i've ever seen
what episode was it? 18?@@jokepore1532
I don’t understand that.
guys am i crazy or crunchyroll reduced the dimming and ghosting for some episodes ?
I wish MAPPA took on less projects so the work schedule could be much better
Do you think bleach cour 3 will have better animation?
It depends on the industry
Well, no new jjk season that year so there will likely be more freelancers available + pierrot doesn’t need to work on a black clover movie during cour 3 + they will likely take some more time so, yeah, it will probably be a bit better
i feel like this episode was incredibly well animated and your overreacting a bit.

How is your english so good?

I'm seriously sorry that I'm about to come off as a bit rude but you REALLY need to focus on your scripts because this is genuinely one of the most boring as well as annoying animation breakdowns. Like, you don't have anything specific to say about any of the scenes shown in the video 99% of the time. You just go like *"ALSO* this scene nice [inserts different positive adjectives every time] *HOWEVER* this scene- bad [inserts different negative adjectives]"
Your content has been extremely repetitive and uninspired to the point where I can accurately just predict which word you're about to use now. The way you speak and the words you choose really add to your identity as a youtuber. But both of those sound way too robotic and AI-generated that it becomes a chore to watch it. Don't mistake me as a racist btw, I'm an indian myself. This is just one of your oldest subscribers expressing his humble opinion and I have already apologised for my rudeness but this is something I've been meaning to say for a long time and is your biggest flaw (YOUR SCRIPT)
I know you've not been on youtube for a long time but criticising content creators is also my basic right as a viewer so please don't take it personally 👍🏻
