Quick question, where does the AD work take place. Is it after LO and before genga or after genga and before douga? Like… do some genga include AD work and some don’t? Second question, if LO and genga are done by different people who’s gonna be credited as the animator? Not really “quick” question lol. But I couldn’t find it online, manko knowledge was needed
The process goes animator makes layout > checks by the episode director > cut gets corrected by the AD > animator (same or different one) makes the genga following the AD corrections. As for the other question, I'm not entirely sure, but from what I've seen, the animator that did the layout still gets credited for genga even if he didn't do it for his own scene, but 2nd KA animators get that credit if they made the genga for someone else's LO. Which I guess is why you see small KA numbers but giant 2nd KA ones.
Thanks for the explanation. Do they sometimes correct it after the genga again? Cause some scenes have 2 corrections on booru like… one by one of the ADs and one by CAD. And some of the corrections like the Nanami or Toji shots are just straight up used in the show.
The people making these LO are animators. Ideally they should always do their own genga. Layout is supposed to be a middle step between storyboards and animation, but now because of the state the anime industry is in it's more like the final work that most animators submit. This causes issues; Since it's the final product from the animators' side, they might make it the "best version" according to them, i.e., needlessly complicated movement but unfinished drawings, thus increasing the work load on 2nd KA and AD. Here's an example: www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/163492. This is Vincent Chansard's LO. This is really good "animation", but as a layout, it is a failure. It's complex with broken art, and if it had simpler composition and movement with better drawings, it wouldn't have completely gone to waste. Vincent of course learned from this experience and is now a great animator- He was given 14 days for 23 cuts of gear 5, and he spent only 4 of those days on animation and the other 10 on cleanup. He could have spent all 14 days on animation and submitted a much "better animated" but rough product, but that would be counter-intuitive. AD work is supposed to be "correction". Animators make genga, AD corrects some drawings either because they are sub-par or simply because they want it to look even better. But since most animators are now submitting LO instead of genga, AD work is now a mixture of "correction" and "completion". JJK gives high level of creative freedom to the animators, so a lot of the AD work here is "completion". Eg: Kosuke Kato did his own genga for this episode, which is why it's so different in style compared to the cuts that come before and after. It required no corrections though as the drawings were fully completed already and Kato is a great artist. Coming back to your questions. "Is it after LO and before genga or after genga and before douga?"- Could be at any single stage. Corrections can be made to the LO and animators use that as reference to make genga. AD checks genga if corrections are still required. CAD can overrule AD corrections in the genga and change it, which the animators use as reference to redo the genga. "Do some genga include AD work and some don’t?"- That's right. Depends on how good the genga is and what kind of project it is. For a show like mob psycho with max creative freedom, AD corrections are rarely made to genga. You can see how the schedule affected the episode when Yuji jumps down the escalator. I immediately thought of the amazing cut in Season 1 episode 4 when Nue drops Megumi off into the tunnel, and I have no doubt that they wanted to do something close to that but just didn't have the time (I would say sanity as well but clearly they're insane enough to go this far).
[Remember] by ColdRain - The Music choice was so great cause it gives a hint about YUji and Chosos relation but also acts as a bluff for the final blow
As kazuto arai tweeted that he was told by hakuyu go to focus a bit more on environments. This ep the environments were so consistent..there a lot of examples people talk about, but one of the best one is.. That for the fist cut arai animated of yuji, the sign yuji jumps off of is the same where the girls is thrown on.. And the blood stain is there
another great analysis manko this was by far my favorite ep of series and I'm glad one of favorite fights in the manga got such a well adaptation I'm truly grateful for these animators who are working in the worst conditions and still delivering the best they can one thing I do gotta say though is that yuji doesn't have a heavenly restriction like maki, toji, and mechamaru as far as we know he was born physically gifted and keep in mind what you theorize towards the end you are on to something
Good job spotting the references, love raid 2 but how did i not tie those 2 scenes together. And yea the kizumonogatari style physical rain really adds to a scene, like wow, how is water so hype?
Amazing video, as always. Short disclaimer (which will probably be lost in the comments), “Roccia” in Roccia Nobili is pronounced with the same C as in Bocchi. If it were in romaji it would be written Roccha (the i is not particularly audible, in Italian if there’s another vowel after it like in this case it’s basically mostly there to get the ch sound). Also, roccia means rock (as in, big/hard stone), so he’s basically Roccha the rock lmao (Nobili is ‘noble’ but plural, which is weird because roccia is singular, I don’t know if he’s referencing something)
I'm not Chinese admittedly but I did take it for multiple years in school. Honestly your pronunciation wasn't too bad. The only things I would note is that non native speakers tend to emphasize the sh sound when they see x more than they need to; it's a bit lighter like a balance between sh and s, but that's more nitpicky than anything. You can also think of the lin as being closer to lean when it's pronounced too. And if I had to try and explain it the jun in Haojun is more said like jin/juen, although trying to capture the nuance in writing is a little hard..@@-MankoMan
Of course it's easiest to correct these things when you can see the name written with the tone marks above characters, but I hope this helped with something.
My interpretation of the ending was Yuji was manually coagulating his blood and preventing it from mixing properly with the rest of Choso's blood on the floor hence meaning Yuji's cursed technique is blood manipulation and thus related to Choso but not necessarily being his brother.
Good job with this presentation 👌Yukun is probably Chinese. Full name possibly Yukun Zhuang. I found a profile on linked... mentioning 3D modeler and animator; it could also be a coincidence
I said to myself that i wasnt gonna simp over the animation this episode And then i watched it and completely destroyed my promise THIS EPISODE LOOKED SOOOO GOOOOOD 25:04 JUNY?????? NO FREAKKING WAY
Will you make a video discussing the JJK controversy regarding the animators having to rush out the later episodes? I watched one of your videos last year about the anime industry suffering due to an abundance of visually appealing shows. Perhaps this controversy is related to the topic discussed in that video
Would it be possible to do an analysis on the upcoming AOT episode? As in the staff and what to expect? This would definetly get views especially since AOT is round the corner. Also would help people appreciate the animation side of MAPPA's AOT.
38:36 I also think that sukuna did not do anything maybe yuji has a power to manipulate people's memories, cuz in season 1 in episode 15-16 when todo asked itadori that what type of girls you like and when itadori answered him, Todo got memories of him and itadori were best friends in high-school even though they never meet each other before ( well this is my personal opinion though 😅)
You should really check out the manga gege akutami does a wonderful job and showcasing their love of animation and fight choreography and its fun to compare what specific beats from the original paneling made it into the animation 😀
Tbh, I thought that Choso was cursed or something into thinking that Yuji was his brother pls don't spoil anything manga readers kek Anyway, great analysis. I always love fights which more like unco-ordinated brawls lol
Just one thing that has nothing to do with what you said about the animation, you mentioned that yuji has a heavenly restriction but he doesn't he is just very physcially strong with cursed energy
Many reasons, could be a fact they are disappointed in their work and don’t want that to define their image in the industry, could just want to be left anonymous. These are assumptions tho
Sometimes the industry can be harsh, Ryu nakamura Csm vision is a perfect example of that. Unique as it is, People didn’t like it and now he was just straight up removed from his director role.

You can see how the schedule affected the episode when Yuji jumps down the escalator. I immediately thought of the amazing cut in Season 1 episode 4 when Nue drops Megumi off into the tunnel, and I have no doubt that they wanted to do something close to that but just didn't have the time (I would say sanity as well but clearly they're insane enough to go this far).
i’ve been waiting forever for this video! welcome back mankoman!
Thank you so much for these videos they're very interesting and they also help me better understand the episodes!
5 minute boys where yall at
My 22 minute homies pull up
@@arac_modeyt9467ong why do i always see notifications after 22 mins
[Remember] by ColdRain - The Music choice was so great cause it gives a hint about YUji and Chosos relation but also acts as a bluff for the final blow
I was so sure that another black flash was coming.
And the blood stain is there
Love ur videos man! After I saw the episode I was already excited to see you make an animation analysis. Great work and keep it up!
Manko, you're great. Keep going man, keep going!
imma be wating on that new episode analysis of jjk ep 16
another great analysis manko this was by far my favorite ep of series and I'm glad one of favorite fights in the manga got such a well adaptation I'm truly grateful for these animators who are working in the worst conditions and still delivering the best they can
one thing I do gotta say though is that yuji doesn't have a heavenly restriction like maki, toji, and mechamaru as far as we know he was born physically gifted and keep in mind what you theorize towards the end you are on to something
This was amazing, great work!
Good job spotting the references, love raid 2 but how did i not tie those 2 scenes together. And yea the kizumonogatari style physical rain really adds to a scene, like wow, how is water so hype?
40 min video? MANKO YOU CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITN THIS 😭
the best thing we can do is believe in the artists and not be upset or frustrated when they come up short under these conditions.
holly hell 43 min video 🙀...time to get my popcorn ready 🍿
Great Video Bro!
Dude Mankoman you have to talk about frieren my god what a beautifully animated show
Amazing video, as always.
Very useful, thanks a lot! Now just need someone who understands Chinese to correct my pronunciation of Xiao Lin and Haojun Zhou.
As a manga reader, I'm sick of people spoiling me from leaks. You'll get no clues or hints from me.
Thanks lol, the leak readers are so fuckin annoying
Let's fking goooooooooo, sleep well my Mankoking
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE 🥳
I WAS WAITNG FOR YOUR VIDEO ON THIS EPISIDE YESSSSSSSS
40 minute manko
Man breakdown lets goo ive been waiting for this ever since the ep dropped time to get my popcorn
"Choso is playing 4d chess while Yuji is playing checkers" nooooo lmao
This guy is a master
Thank you for your passion and dedication!
Forget about collage work, let's binge a Manko Man vid!
I hope you finish your collage after this
My interpretation of the ending was Yuji was manually coagulating his blood and preventing it from mixing properly with the rest of Choso's blood on the floor hence meaning Yuji's cursed technique is blood manipulation and thus related to Choso but not necessarily being his brother.
"k1ro confirmed for the next episode!!"
The adrenaline rush inside me📈📈📈📈
If he is in this ep then I wonder who'll do the toji cut next ep cuz thatsthe highlight of the next fight
bro please give me source 😭
The source is that I made it the fuck up.
@@-MankoMan bruh💀
Finally. I’ve waited patiently and it’s finally here. A new day, a new mankoanalysis
Nice video bhai, waiting for today's ep 14
Good job with this presentation 👌Yukun is probably Chinese. Full name possibly Yukun Zhuang. I found a profile on linked... mentioning 3D modeler and animator; it could also be a coincidence
Great video as always mankobro
i hope next season may have best healthy production so animator who working on it can show their bestest
I don't think there will be(atleast for a while)
Production committee are too greedy to do that
holy shit your predictions are on point
Been waiting for this one
15:20 hahah good oneeee
insane video, cant wait for episode 16 2 hours analysis video
Love your videos my guy.
ULTRAKILL music at the start? NICE
I said to myself that i wasnt gonna simp over the animation this episode
And then i watched it and completely destroyed my promise
THIS EPISODE LOOKED SOOOO GOOOOOD
25:04 JUNY?????? NO FREAKKING WAY
Will you make a video discussing the JJK controversy regarding the animators having to rush out the later episodes?
I watched one of your videos last year about the anime industry suffering due to an abundance of visually appealing shows. Perhaps this controversy is related to the topic discussed in that video
I will be making "production hell: JJK".
New subscriber her
LETS GO BABY MANKO MAN POSTED
Theory relation about geto choso and yuji chefs kiss
Yessiirrrr. lets goo
hold up, i need a coffee to watch this amazing video
wait Juni worked on JJK too?? he's such a great animator for just a 19 year old kid
I remember being introduced to him 2 years ago through those gartic phone vids
Yep great work
Still waiting for the across the spiderverse, upper moon meeting and heavenly delusion production video 🥺🥺🥺
Would it be possible to do an analysis on the upcoming AOT episode? As in the staff and what to expect?
This would definetly get views especially since AOT is round the corner.
Also would help people appreciate the animation side of MAPPA's AOT.
i’m readyyyy
38:36 I also think that sukuna did not do anything maybe yuji has a power to manipulate people's memories, cuz in season 1 in episode 15-16 when todo asked itadori that what type of girls you like and when itadori answered him, Todo got memories of him and itadori were best friends in high-school even though they never meet each other before ( well this is my personal opinion though 😅)
You should really check out the manga gege akutami does a wonderful job and showcasing their love of animation and fight choreography and its fun to compare what specific beats from the original paneling made it into the animation 😀
Tbh, I thought that Choso was cursed or something into thinking that Yuji was his brother
pls don't spoil anything manga readers kek
Anyway, great analysis. I always love fights which more like unco-ordinated brawls lol
bros getting a 90% in anime theory crafting
I think mankoman mentioned it but what was the movie that there's alot of sakuga?
FGO Camelot 2.
@@-MankoMan THANK YOU VERY MUCH😁👍👍
Top quality as always
(The video)
Can you make an review of the recent jjk chap?
MankoMan analysis 🔥
MankoMan is kinda hot
😳
IS THAT CHIKOI THE MAID?!?!?! W mans.
Edit: nvm its ULTRAKILL still a huge W
Top tier of jjk 💜❤️
Just one thing that has nothing to do with what you said about the animation, you mentioned that yuji has a heavenly restriction but he doesn't he is just very physcially strong with cursed energy
😭wait how did bro break both his hands
Why doesn't the animator at 16:33 want to be revealed? I'm not asking for a name. Just wondering.
@@James-s9g6u Oh OK. Who will be the new director of csm? Is it announced?
@@James-s9g6u is that confirmed? I've only heard speculation so far
@@matth1641well I guess we’ll see but I think true but ya we’ll see. If he is director for season 2 I’ll delete 😅
You did NOT start off with Versus off the bat!?
i can see a new episode coming up
ep15 is fire
40:50 btw yuuji doesn't have heavenly pact
will there be a video on Pluto?
