Great info, I have tried crimping wire on vertical jig in the past and had the crimp give out fishing for amberjacks. I now only use crimped asst. hooks for kings and wahoo. Again thanks.

The manufacturer suggested I double the leader going through the crimp for a better hold. Are you familiar with this technique? I'm not and would like to know how it's done. Thanks.
Single strand wire will slide through a crimp sleeve under heavy or even light pressure over time. The haywire twist is the best (and only way that I know of) to connect single strand wire to anything. Just make sure when doing the haywire twist, you are wrapping the main wire and tag end around each other, and not just wrapping the tag end around the main wire. Watch BlacktipH's video on how to PROPERLY tie the haywire twist.
I don't have a question about the materials but I have a question about fishing in general. I was wondering y it is beneficial for the fish to be let back into the water. I told my parents that it is better for the fish to let back into the water but their logic was that I would already have pretty much "killed" the fish because I hooked their mouth, hurting them, and letting the fish back Into the water will basically mean another fish will eat it.

I have and use 9/0 a lot, many catch large fish on smaller reels....and have been, it depends on your drag setting and pole strength and how to use both, sure it might take a longer time to bring in, but hey they all work well. Tight lines!
