Hi Joshua, thanks for having Dennis show us the Bimini Twist and the awesome way to finish it off. I have not seen it done that way before and it is a really tidy way to finish rather than all the half hitches normally required. Cheers and tight lines to you.
Good tutorial. What it ends up as is a Rizzuto finishing knot without all the wind on/wind off. I have used this method a lot on mono having learned it from an Australian knot book by Geoff Wilson. Now for mono I use the Aussie braid, also in the book, as it performs as well as the Bimini without any line deformation like I always seem to get with the Bimini. I used the Bimini on braid with good results though I'd suspect that if my eyes weren't so old then the Aussie braid knot would work well for braided line as well. You need to have a little tension on the line to do the Aussie braid knot and you can finish with the Rizzuto or the pull through method shown here. The best way to finish it is as shown in the book with the tag doubled for the last few braids and then pass the double loop through the small loop formed in the tag end. Another good method is the wind on leader using hollow dacron. This allows quick leader changes and is extremely strong. I've never seen one fail. I only use loops now where I'm using a long double as with braid I like the strength of the FG knot when I'm out on the water or the PR bobbin knot when preparing from home.
Important, do not pull the tag end and the main line. Pull just as shown in the video ending at 3:30 and immediately cut off your tag end then tie on your leader with the Yucatan or other knot of your choice. If you pull the tag and the main line at the same time it will result in having to cut off and tie over again. If you're confused just go one step past 3:30 and pull hard on the tag and main line, you'll see what I'm talking about. This was with PE 1.5 and I've yet to try it on heavier PE, however my Bimini Twist looked great until I did that and instantly was ruined.
I love the addition of the use of the “loop tool” That’s how they lock in the thread 🧵 when tying on guides to a rod I bet that where you got it. Or whom ever showed you. Nice
A week later, knot still holding strong, caught two shovel nose sharks 150cm, various little snags and smaller fish, 65lb berkly braid and 80lb shock leader. No snapoffs or line/knot degradation. Props to this knot, really holding true.
@blacktiph a year later, Still using the same knott on 65lb braid and a 80lb fluorocarbon leader. this knott is flawless, It will need to be redone soon as the braid is starting ro fray. this knotr with a 10m leader has caught countless fish, maybe 15 sharks and 10rays. I can't thank you enough.
Really good tutorial. I like the trick with making the loop at the start to pull tag end through at the end. That coupled with the leg controlling the wrapping is great! I will use this when I connect the backing to my fly line on my larger fly reels. Thanks!! :)
There are easier ways to make a strong knot that isn't so absurdly complex. You could tie a double back loop knot that is almost as strong in literally 15 seconds. The Rapala Knot is also one of the best knots and once you learn how to do it well, you can double up over it like this without the need for an external loop. And you can control the Rapala knot's loop so it suits whatever bait, lure or hook you're using. Thus far I find it to be the best knot to use with Fluorocarbon, or any other line, but doing it on braided can be tricky because it locks down so hard and braid doesn't have any slip ability.
Not for nothing.....but yeah...there are tons of simpler knots that are strong and plenty fishable. But when going for 100% ABS or as close to that as possible. It may be the most consistent way to hit 100% which the bimini is almost capable of and handles shock better than even the PR which I use almost exclusively. The bimini can be pretty tough to get to be consistent...this method and how methodical it is looks like it rules out things that can be inconstant....and I tie a good bimini with other methods and ha had it hold to some big tuna prior to Hollow core splicing
@@TackleAdvisors agreed! .... And to those questioning, a properly tied Bimini connected to my version (and others) of the Bristol/No-name knot is ALWAYS stronger than the running line itself when tieing your running line to a reel on castable leader. If the knot fails, you tied it wrong! If you learn to do the Bimini with your teeth and hands only it can done in under a minute and made as short as only a few inches long. I also finish my Bimini with a half hitch and lock it down with a simple 2 turn nail knot that never fails me but enjoyed watching this version. The connecting Bristol takes no time at all. Tight lines and good times to all!
Armando Torres The Rizzuto whip finish, is used to complete the 100 turn Bimini twist knot. Used to create a loop in gel spun polyethylene braid, to create a cats paw to join to mono leader.
It's used to double up your line. The bimini twist has nearly 100% breaking strength. You can use the bimini to tie leader, connect line to line or attach snap swivels and other terminal tackle.
It's for connecting fly line to backing or for connecting two types of line like mono top shot to braided line or it can be used to attach a leader to a fly line as well , if you make your own twisted leaders or use straight tippet to fly line it's about the strongest knot there is.
A bimini twist is a large fixed loop. The reason it gets used over other loop knots is it's strength. It is very similar to a splice in that it spreads friction out over a greater distance via the twists. So it may be more time consuming but gives you a loop that will be stronger than the line itself. This finish shown here using the loop to pull the tag back through is a nice variation to a traditional half hitch finish. Makes loop to loop connections a breeze and yields a connection that you can be confident will be stronger than the line rating.
With the Multitude of Knots today for joining braid to mono or Flouro and so forth, what is the Advantage of Bimini twist. There's a lot of Great knots
VERY NICE VIDEO AND EXPLANATION !!! CAN I TIE THE BIMINI TWIST TO LEADER AS FG ? I WILL BE VERY HAPPY IF YOU CAN EXPLAIN OR SHOW HOW TO DO THAT - THANK YOU
That's a version of the hybrid Aussie braid with a B-twist. Never thought about a loop to pull back through like a nail knot. I would only use a Aussie braid or a hybrid version of an assie braid on all braid.
dear josh my name is ryan i am 12 years old and i live in south florida i love to fish i have been fishing since i could walk i go fresh and saltwater fishing all the time and my birthday is coming up on june 29 i know your schedule is probably full but i was wondering if there was any way i could go fishing with you if so comment on this page so i could give you my information.
Blacktiph, so basically this knot creates an alternative leader by doubling the line? I don't see how you would connect a monofilament leader from just the loop
why would someone waste their time on tying a fancy knot like this when an 6-8 turns surgeons knot can be tied in seconds and it does just as good a job.....
Awesome Tutorial. The camera clarity and the angles were perfect.

Most difficult knot I’ve had to learn. Very helpful, thanks Dennis 👍
that knot in the thumbnail looks like a beast!!!
My new favorite bimini. Thanks!
the finish looks better than doing hitches, i like! ^^

That's an intense knot!

Thanks for the tutorial!
Your welcome! 👍
BEST B.T. I'VE SEEN! THANX FROM IDAHO
I've been practicing the pr knot for spectra and or braid, to monofillament. Could you provide a tutorial possibly?
That's a very tidy knot!

look very clean like that 💪
is this type of knot very strong?
Do a Rizzuto whip finish & you don’t need the pull thru loop! 😉👍
Ian Moone what is this knot used for?
Or I’ll say applications
Armando Torres The Rizzuto whip finish, is used to complete the 100 turn Bimini twist knot.

Can you please explain how this knot is used while fishing?
It's used to double up your line. The bimini twist has nearly 100% breaking strength. You can use the bimini to tie leader, connect line to line or attach snap swivels and other terminal tackle.
what is the point of the bimini twist, i dont see him tying it to leader, swivel, hook, lure, or anything. What do you use the knot for?
+Fishing The Surf You double the line and the breaking strength of your knot.
BlacktipH Bimini is good but I find the FG is easier and just as strong?
BlacktipH my question is where do you attach say a lure or leader
It's for connecting fly line to backing or for connecting two types of line like mono top shot to braided line or it can be used to attach a leader to a fly line as well , if you make your own twisted leaders or use straight tippet to fly line it's about the strongest knot there is.

Hey Guys! Great Job! Really good Tutorial. Ohne small question: How do connect this to the leader? Is there an Other Knoten for this?
good! I'm from Brazil, and I also love Go fishing!!!
That's a version of the hybrid Aussie braid with a B-twist. Never thought about a loop to pull back through like a nail knot. I would only use a Aussie braid or a hybrid version of an assie braid on all braid.
After hours & hours & hundreds of yards of Braid I found a 105%+ Strength Knot Wayyy easier to Tie than the Bimini Twist.
I call it the “Mini_Bimini”

@@BlacktipH very good bimini twist
I was the first one to like
Talk about confusing lol. I thought the guy was trying to the himself up!!
I can see much clearer in this video thanks
Is that worked for leader line??
Is the bimini twist necessary for lake fishing
Mason MacIsaac no
👀 Thank you
nice and neat
hey man what is the best lure for tarpn fishing
Is that tied on braid spectra? What range of braid sizes does that know work on?
phil m its WTF braid
good! bro
where did u get that line?
I’d still want to lock both legs down with a half hitch on each and then use that finish.
You finished it off, similar to a Rizzuto finish.
Blacktiph, so basically this knot creates an alternative leader by doubling the line? I don't see how you would connect a monofilament leader from just the loop
what knot do i have to use to conect bimini to leader?
No Name Knot or Alberto Knot.
That would take me a week of practice to learn plus imagine performing that in a choppy bay? Spider hitch works fine.
its called a rizzuto finish and you dot need a loop. Just a different finish.
Is the finishing knot a rizzuto finish?
Yes!
Do some tarpon videos!!!!
Fr
That is way to confusing for one knot! 😂
What happened with Southern Fin Apparel are you not partnered with them anymore and if so Why?
We no longer work with Southern Fin Apparel.
I'm Ryan with the birthday coming up if so how do I get to your website I don't see it
to much work

S9 what is the purpose of this knot?
+Josh Williams The purpose is to double up your line to create stronger knots.
Are you ever gonna come to mississippi? Love if you could come and hang out, i love to fish, i fishh all of the time, id love to hange out!!
Looks like a bemini with resudo finish
I have did that but what now
Is this better than an FG knot?
+Bobby Bent No, this knot is for a different purpose.
What is the purpose of the knot?
To double up your line and have a high breaking strength.
BlacktipH what is stronger: a Bimini to fg or just an fg for connecting braid to mono?
പൊളിച്ചു അടി പൊളി
