The one thing I really hate about PLDT is their INCONSISTENCY. I have to admit, their wifi speeds are fast, but it keeps being disrupted by "service repairs". They did not prepare for the pandemic, it just became worse. There was a time where I had to defend a research during a 3 day service repair in our area. Its really frustrating

The problem about PLDT just boils down to lack of competition. Us Filipino people are literally forced between the "lesser of two evils" one is you stick with PLDT and just cope up with all their BS or switch to another provider in this case Globe or Converge(if you already have them in your area) or any other known Internet service providers, which is another whole level of BS on its own.

I live in the Philippines and I can confirm what most of the comments here are mentioning. If you plan on going to the PH, know that due to the lack of competition, most telecom companies will provide the bare minimum while charging full price (The PH has one of the most expensive internet plans in Asia while simultaneously being the slowest.)
So you just have to pick your poison and hope you got the lesser evil.

I’m not Filipino but I’ve been living here for 7 years and just started working as of last year. Before I never knew much about Internet bc I was a kid- but as of getting a job online at 51talk (another shitty company) I’ve had nothing but horrible experiences with the internet. Sometimes it just randomly cuts out for multiple days and I’m so frustrated bc I get fines for not attending classes! (51talk also doesn’t allow those fees for renewal and despite having a ton of Teacher here in Phil and knowing this problem their solution is just “get a better internet lol” btw I have plenty of horror stories from 51talk so if you ever need content- ask ANYONE who’s worked there for a few months)
Anyway as I was saying- pldt offered no notice or support but yet we still have to pay for this shitty service- if they did was you mentioned and compensated their customers I wouldn’t be complaining but why would they do something that would make the experience easier for anyone...

    @UrsaWarrior95 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

PLDT (Now with Smart) was always trying to improve its service. Year by year we are getting some improvement in speeds, but really, part of the problem was the permits needed to construct additional cell towers in the country. DICT is just so sloppy on approving the construction of additional network lines and cell towers and only laid eyes on the slow internet issue when pandemic struck lmao. I wanna blame PLDT alone for the poor services, but in reality, the hardware (ie the cell towers) available to connect the people is just so limited that it couldn't keep up with the amount of users in the country. That's why I blame the lousy government as well.

Most telecommunications here in the Philippines are just universally hated. I had Globe, consistently slow and just doesn't work every week, but then came a time when we simply didn't have any sort of connection for a whole month. We called in to schedule a fix in just its first week of not working, but we never got any fixing service. We went to one of their stores to get disconnected where literally hundreds of people were in line to either complain or to get disconnected. We never got officially disconnected from Globe for no reason at all, and up to this day they're still asking us to pay for something which we simply don't have.
We changed into Sky, consistently fast, barely any disconnects. Paid for 25 mbps yet we consistently get 45 mbps. Internet is improving in the Phils but you can simply fuck off of PLDT and Globe.

@@archwaldo Hmmm, funny story, our internet was fine up until mid 2021 where it would cut out randomly. I let it slide for a few months until it became very unbearable. We heard about an offer of globe to switch our current plan to Fibr for free without changing the price, I want to note ahead that we first started to ask them for an upgrade since early October of 2021. We chose to go for the fibr upgrade because it would hopefully fix the internet in the process. 2 weeks pass and not a single call or visit from a technician. We then get a call that they would move it next week. This process kept going until November when SOMEONE finally came, it was two guys with a van and they inspected our wirings for a bit and they noticed that our line was going through another person's property and they brought it up. They asked if we had permission or a permit that allowed us to go through their property and I said that yes we do. The technician seemed to have misunderstood me and just went up and said that we can't upgrade because we don't have permission EVEN THOUGH I SAID WE HAD PERMISSION, AND HOW WOULD WE EVEN HAVE A LINE GOING THROUGH THE FIRST PLACE IF WE DIDNT. The technician said he would come back once we had permission. A few angry calls later and not anyone of them budged and the cycle of 'Sorry, we'll just upgrade your line next week because we don't have time'. Fast forward to December and we've switched to Sky internet at this point because it was hopeless. My mother had stopped paying for globe and wanted to finally apply for a disconnection on January and WE STILL KEPT GETTING CALLS THAT THEY WOULD RESCHEDULE IT FOR NEXT WEEK. On January, my mother wanted to apply for a disconnection on globe but she couldn't because they wouldn't accept applications for anything in their office if they had not booked for a schedule for it prior to going there. I was even thinking that we couldn't apply for a disconnection because it would probably have been the same situation as the upgrade where they would keep rescheduling it 'next week' or whenever that is at this point. But a miracle came and my mother finally managed to disconnect our line. Way to go for an 'excellent customer service' from globe.

I used to work in a call center, PLDT owned. and let me tell you this from my previous working experience: when a client or an IRATE client has a bad service (like no phone and no internet and the technician didn't fix everything for days!) and started calling for a manager or a supervisor, PLDT programmed their agents to "lie" (that's right, you read it correctly!) that their manager or supervisor is "engaged" on call (but the truth is, they're NOT most of the time).
that's why many of the call center agents of PLDT get so much stress from these kinds of supervisor and manager calls because supervisors and managers are very UNWILLING to take accountability for the poor service happened on the customer or client. I was so glad I left that PLDT call center via AWOL and I DID NOT regret it!! lol!

Hi guys i am a PLDT sales agent. let me enlighten you on some facts regarding PLDT. kasi medyo assuming kasi ng konti itong video. i understand where this video is coming from but of course its based on customer only knowledge and not on a completely informed basis. the problem with pldt is their lack of information dissemination in regards to their business processes. Just like any big companies and corporations in the country. PLDT is marred with business and government red tape. they have so many process in regards to their aftersales, technical services and account services that it really takes a lot of time for ordinary people to understand all of this. for example pldt repair is necessary. it is not a one of thing. Internet repair will regularly come by having a pldt account. the nature of the fiber optic technologies used in pldt requires that it does so.maselan kasi ang fiber optic cables at nirerequire pa nito ng highly trained na tao at highly specialized equiment na mamahalin para maayos ang fiber kung masiraan man ito. the people who does repair like this come few and far in between. isang rason ito kung bakit matagal nakakarating ang repair. isa pa madaling nakakalimutan ng mga technicians na puntahan ang ibang mga bahay para magrepair dahil sa araw araw na dami ng ginagawang repairs ng mga technicians. they are overworked not because pldt or their partner companies allows this but its reaaly more on a manpower issue on that part. in regards naman sa kita ng pldt at kung bakit hindi nila pinaggagastusan yung customer service nila masyado, the reason for that is mostly because of the nature of yung nationwide demand for optic fiber networks. sobrang mahal ng pagpapatayo ng fiber internet network. normally, kada barangay na pinapatayuan nito ay milyon milyon na ang ginagastos para lang malagyan ng internet ang mga bahay. just imagine how many barangays are there in the philippines for pldt to cover. yung income nila is spare change to the demand required to build such infrastructure. they simply cant focus to much on customer service because of it. yung totoong solution nito in my opinion is that government should have a more active role in trying to consolidate and subsidize ang mga telcos. perhaps siguro ay palitan yung sistema kung saan mas less competition sana ang ginagawa ng mga telcos. even though mdyo nakakdismaya din meron namang mga agents like myself na we strife to make people understand. really rather than bashing pldt. we should try and help the company in their goals because we are talking about providing internet to every filipino. ang internet kasi ay hindi na lang siya parang panglibangan na lang. malaking pangangailangan na yan sa trabaho at eskwela. in the philippines there are still around half of the country who still do not have fiber internet. huwag niyo na lang i expect na may makakausap kayong madali sa pldt. try your best na lang to check yung website ng pldt home. they have all the information you need to resolve your problem there or you can go to facebook and look for agents like yours truly and ask for solutions. :)

The school and majority of my schoolmates uses PLDT. Our classes got cancelled for a few days when PLDT's networks went down for maintenance. And because PLDT underwent maintenance a lot during a certain time period, I switched to Globe.

We've been pldc subscribers since 2004, until around 2019, and I can tell you that they are only consistent in their inconsistency. Yet despite how shit their services are, the competition is still somehow shittier with slower speeds and data capping. 2019, my brother switched our network to sky broadband for only marginal improvement; while outright disconnections were less common compared to pldc, it had this thing where our connection would fritz out most evenings and our speeds would slow down to almost 0 and unable to load an website. It just got worse as time went on despite being more expensive, and we were stuck paying for it when my brother moved out with his family near the end of 2020.
So when sky broadband's lock-in period timed out around July last year, my mother insisted on switching to another provider. As there wasn't much of a choice, I re-subscribed to pldc. We haven't had any major issues until now, but I know it's only a matter of time.

if you have to blame, blame the 1987 Consitution for allowing companies like these to monopolize. Time for Constitutional Change to allow competition.

I don't typically watch Filipino channels because I find most of them very tacky. This one, however, I found very entertaining and informative. I see how it could be improved but how it is now (this video at least) is good enough.
I would personally want to tackle this discussion in a more technical nature, but I don't yet possess the resources to do so. This is certainly a niche I didn't know I would ever find. :)

well it has improved somewhat, it took me 2 weeks to get a line and internet working. but it was still a pain. I was able to this all online no need to go physically to the PLDT office. May not apply outside of Metro Manila.

Tried to apply PLDT Internet for the last 6 years, until now wala parin.
Pag nag apply ka,, almost 2 months bago sila mag first contact.
Tapos after several weeks ito lang update nila.
Our field operations team was not able to proceed with installation because there are no available facilities in your area at this time. Your application will be cancelled. We hope to serve you soon.
Walang effort.

It's kinda funny. I also boarded near that PLDT office in iloilo. I'm surprised to see so many people queuing there. It's was during the pandemic too so the surge is also from the people probably preparing for the online classes. Some also had to stand in the sun cause I think they didn't have enough chairs or "tents" for all the people queuing.
