As a Filipino student, we would always play the dinosaur game A LOT. Even if our school had internet, our internet was that bad that we made it a sport to get as far as we can in the game.
There's a factors that affects the internet in the Philippines. not blaming the telcos alone... The first is the geography, we know that philippines consist of 7000+ islands making it difficult to construct fixed networks. The other one is the lacking of towers because of the bureaucratic red taping where numerous permits that requires so many signatures to build a single tower in different location and the approval runs for months..So less cell tower catering a large number of user leads to slower connection.
Finally, someone who knows what they're talking about. Don't get me wrong, corporates are still greedy pieces of shites but that doesn't diminish the fact that they can only work with so much because of much more greedy corrupt government bodies. It's a never-ending cycle

Isp majority offers residential internet because the latter is rarely offer to and at the same time, you need tons of documents to be approve to get a business internet and it is expensive.
Call centers and BPOs used fiber internet and they have their own tower at the rooftop of the company. Those who work at home have fiber wired connection as well so best internet so far. I know it because I work in the bpo

Welcome to the Philippines, wherein the internet is faster when you should be asleep.
It’s all because of the lack of Cell sites. Basically, More cell sites = more speed. Think of a wifi modem. More people connected = less speed; Less people connected = more speed. That’s how cell sites work. Midnight = less people awake, so it’s faster Daytime = more people awake, so it’s slower Yun yung problema diyan.
As an Indonesian who doesn't live in Java Island, I can totally relate to this.
Finally, someone who knows what they're talking about. Don't get me wrong, corporates are still greedy pieces of shites but that doesn't diminish the fact that they can only work with so much because of much more greedy corrupt government bodies. It's a never-ending cycle
You dont need cell towers, if you have a cell satelite, big companies can pay famous people to endorse them but they cant buy a cell satelite
@@Levyiathan-yq2og yes it's still a plan for now
Getting permit now is easy. It only takes 16 days unlike before it takes 200 days to get the permit. Its up for the telco to improve their internet.

@@aceian7738 that explains when I used to play Among Us in public lobbies, I used to ask people where they were. When people used to tell me that they were Filipinos, they'd immediately be disconnected from the game.

Well, now you know what makes them act: clout. Just air your grievances on Twitter.

I know right, im very happy when i get to singapore where the wifi is fast that i dont disconnect 2 times in a day, THATS NICE
Because of the sloe internet I have collected allot of data gathering on my router.
Starting 11 pm to 7:30 am the internet speed can reach 1-2mbps
But in the morning its either 680kbps to 70kbps
There are three of us that connects to our router
If I'm the one using at day time its average 200-600kbps
If its night time its 900-1.5mbps
Bit if one of us connects while use the internet its either 70-200kbps
And worse globe says average internet speed is 10mbps that was placed on the logo but it barely reaches 1mbps on the morning and can't even move up 2mbps
Lol
Mate I used to have a really bad internet provider until a couple years ago, when new companies finally arrived in my area with optical fibre, no more adsl and crashing internet. But the internet in Philippines is even worse than what I used to have here down in South America. Hope you lads gets better internet soon!
Are you really in south America the way you type sounds like you are from Australia or Ireland
@@hallooos7585 Yes, in Chile. Look at my username! Estoy en Chile, ahora estamos en cuarentena total y con las fronteras cerradas por la pandemia de Covid.
I am Korean-Filipino and I have always been back and forth between Korea and the Philippines. I remember getting so frustrated whenever I had to use the internet when I am the Philippines. The difference between Korea and the Philippines with regards to internet speeds is like the difference between 1000000 and 1. I hope this problem gets solved because people there are clearly getting affected in a negative way.
As an indian, we have also seen days like this even in bigger cities few years ago, internet was slow as hell and very expensive. But time changes so situation, now we get satisfiable 4G speeds even in rural areas, thanks to our internet revolution.
Sana ol
How long did it take?
Started in September 2016 when Jio offered unlimited 4G for no cost
All thanks to Ambani and jio.
Jio is a blessing to us(Indians).
Although I'm from the Philippines I was so used to living in Saudi Arabia that when I got back home to Philippines. I cried about how slow it was. The difference in the Internet speed is so visible
i'm about to go home to the philippines from saudi arabia and i'm terrified
So the next time your VAs told you they’re having an internet difficulty, believe them please. They’re doing their best to serve you. Mabuhay!
