You are really smart, giving us reasons to work on cosmetic parts that's worth because the mechanical parts are still really good. There is no point working in cosmetic if the mechanical parts fall apart.
Very informative, and in my opinion the safe way to go when removing dip. Love the videos keep making more how to videos I learn a lot being an auto detailer myself
Yours came off great. It was a good thick application, so peeled off well. I had a lot of thin spots on my truck’s wheels. I watched a lot of vids and tried lots of products. Some of them broke the rubber down, making it possible to wipe the rubber off, like in this video. But it took a lot of towels and a lot of elbow grease. I wanted something that would make the rubber peel-able again. I tried Easy Off oven cleaner, and it WORKED! Spray it on liberally, let it sit for at least an hour, and start peeling. Really thin spots came off easily with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I don’t know why, but it takes very little effort to rub stubborn spots right off. Science bonus: by the third tire, I discovered that if I sprayed water on the tire after the Easy Off had set for an hour, the rubber became really pliable and peeled even better. I promised that I would post this if I found something that worked. So here it is! Easy Off and Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
Perfect ! Consumer use I recommend turtle wax bug and tar. Soak and pressure wash it when the dip was applied to thin and can’t be peeled. 👍🏼 great video
Thanks for this suggestion. I have old plastic dip on my rims that has factory paint on it. When I remove the plasti dip will it destroy the original paint?
Appreciate your videos and your hard work... just kinda curious why when you go to work of sanding wheels why not put buffer on them bring them back nice shine
Just a recommendation for a future video. Any chance you could do a Dr. Colorchip demonstration. I'd love to see how it fairs on the front of the Lexus. My 270,000 mile Infiniti M35x looked so much better after some Colorchip, Squeegee, and SealAct action!
I have plasti dip on my chrome trim around the windows and side cameras . (Tesla model 3) Would it be safe to use the traffic paint remover on that ? Near the windows and car door / paint ?
Or you can just spray down some gas on it so you can reach every part and then go on with the pressure washer. To remove plastidip by hand, it must have been sprayed with a least 7 or 8 layers to be thick enough to be removed correctly.
So is plastidip Solvent or Water based? What do they recommend clean up With that would tall tell sign noticed they have different solvents but don’t tell you what it is guess they want you to buy there special antidote sauce $$ Yea picked up an FJ grill and mirrors have thin worn sht all over it.🤪
This product along with "wraps" are the two biggest automotive fads that are an absolute pain in the ass to deal with. I wish they were never invented, half the time when you get a product that was wrapped or dipped, that shit is not coming off. The glue they put on wraps bakes into the paint, takes off the clearcoat with it. no matter how the fanboys lie and say its safe to use, its not safe. Same with dips. That shit is a pain in the ass to remove.
BEST solvent for Plasti-dip removal (If you can work fast) is GOOF-OFF NOT googone or oops. Get GOOF-OFF!! It loose the adhesive so it will peal easier. It evaporates quickly so you must work fast section at a time. You can find it paint isle Depot or Lowes. You will need a lot of it and a paint brush to apply. Apply it and wait 30secs or so and then hit it with a pressure washer after you have peeled some with fingernail.. If ya dont have a pressure washer........just start hand peeling. You will see that the chemical only loosens the bond and not the strength of the plasit dip so it stays together while peeling If you are simply trying to remove remnants of the dip, GOOF OFF is your goto. Piece of cake. Whoever invented plastidip should face permanent justice. AWFUL STUFF!!
Just use dip disolver. If it was dipped right, this would have been super easy though. Plastidip is pretty awesome. The way this guy shows is NOT how you remove plastidip.

Before actually watching the video, Goo gone or gasoline would remove plasti dip in seconds.
Yeah but when it's really old
Thanks cleaned mines off in about 30 mins 💯
Gonna try DAT 👍

Any citrus cleaner works great too. Citrol 266. Spray off. Pressure wash off.
Awesome video Jason. Killing the game.
lacquer thinner & acetone, and stronger mineral spirits works the same, good vid man
Thanks!
4:05 video starts
Dang that's sad
Thank you. We didn't need a life story.
Just wasting my life away...
The hero we didnt know we needed thanks bro

That’s the best you’ve tried so far?
Xylene removes and disolve plastidip perfectly 👍 its like washing dirt
Plasti dip seemed like such a good idea several years ago 😅
Still is. If this was paint the video would be quite different and much more costly.
@@jdmcarrepairs142🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like a short and direct ‘how-to’ video like this. Thanks Jason and looking forward to cleaning up the barrels next.
Yeah, that was not fun cleaning these barrels.
The best product in my opinion is WD-40 . Add a good amount let it sit then pressure wash it or use a towel to scrub
Thanks for this suggestion. I have old plastic dip on my rims that has factory paint on it. When I remove the plasti dip will it destroy the original paint?
Not at all. It will just restore them to however they were before you dipped them
@@RothBeyondTheGrave thank you so much. I was really worried about that now I'm not😊
Appreciate your videos and your hard work... just kinda curious why when you go to work of sanding wheels why not put buffer on them bring them back nice shine
I've used goo gone in the past and It works well
Just tried today with WD-40 and isopropyl alcohol. Both worked great, think the WD-40 does a slightly better job though.
I assume that chemical removal product won’t work well on plastic parts that were dipped?

Agree, Jason please do the Dr colorchip video tutorial.
Do you use the same technique for thin plastidip on body paint?
Did you figure this out? I have the same question now 2 years later
How I miss the old aircraft remover 😢😢
I’ve used plastidip on a window, a thin coat and it’s not coming off very well. Any ideas?
Quick question: are used plasti dip to paint my grill and it’s not peeling off from my actual car. Is it safe to use goo gone on my paint?
I plasti dipped wheels once - feel bad for whoever ended up with that car. Haha I did not do it thick
Or you could use dip dissolver. It literally melts it, then rinse off. Comes off easily.
I have plasti dip on my chrome trim around the windows and side cameras . (Tesla model 3) Would it be safe to use the traffic paint remover on that ? Near the windows and car door / paint ?
Great video thanks thank you

To remove plastidip by hand, it must have been sprayed with a least 7 or 8 layers to be thick enough to be removed correctly.
Please don't use gasoline to do this. Not only it is a carcinogen, it's really harsh on the environment, and dangerous.
How is it dangerous? Keep the cigarettes to a minimum and you'll be fine.
Anyone know if these chemicals are safe to use on chrome
Back at it again with the bangers!!!
Would this mess up chrome wheels???
Will that not peel the clear coat from the wheels?
I wanna get rid of a 2 year old plastidip on my miata. Think it would work? The dip is pretty thick
1st from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷
Is that safe to use on paint though
Will it affect car paint
Kerosesne works really well as well
Will the chemicals damage paint underneath the plastidip
Tell the Challenger to loose the freaking lip spoiler guard!! Those are just for shipping, not cosmetic options 🤢
What’s crazy is 3 years later, I still see that everywhere 😂
Cannot wait to see those wheels cleaned

Is plasti dip the same as wrap?
Great vid Jason. I just didn’t like the background music. Just saying
No not at all plasti dip is a spray on wrap is a wrap
@@urabusliberty9258 🙏👍
What ozone machine do you use
Amazing… paint stripper and pressure washer it is, thanks
GET NEW TIRES!
LOL, I got them put on yesterday.
Lol first thing I noticed!
Tar and Glue remover will not remove this?
Can the paint remover damage plastic any? Like dirtbike plastics?
Kept it *under* 10 minutes. Like a *boss* !!
👍👌✌
he still wasted about 5 mins tho
Nice tips! Thanks Jason!
Why do you guys use a green tip rather than a white tip on the pressure washer
I was hoping that you were going to do that 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I will never plasti dip my rims again, it faded and and is so annoying to remove

Thanks:)
paaint remover would wreck clear coat underneath
In my humble opinion it looked terrible to begin with
😂
Dipyourcar dip dissolver works faster FYI 🤙🏾
Are you falling in love with this car yet, Jason??
Or just use 'Liquid Wrench Penetrating Oil for 3 bucks... worked like a charm on my wheels..
Pressure washer before using chemical. Even easier.
4:22 for the method
Just spray it with brake clean and rub off , maybe takes 5min per wheel
Better not be lying I’m trying this. Can’t get my old plastidip off for the life of me lol
@@katiesalvadore7306 yep do it while the brake clean is still wet
Like the vid and all the comments because can't find Tec307 anymore. Must have been banned.
There’s gotta be a better way 🤔
Pressure washer close up will take it off
Gasoline works too
Jason drives an ES?? I thought he was more of a bmw guy
Nice 👏👏👍🤘👍👍
thanks bro 2 years later plasti dip going to get removed a lot easier
Plasti dip is horrible.
Nothing I hate more than plasti dip lol
I removed a 12 year old clear bra with a pressure washer. Slow but effective.
Will cut his hair?
First! No try to beat me first commenters 😀😂😂😂
I gonna use a hose and my finger then I’ll wipe it down with old towels
Dude don't waste the towels just pressure wash it off!!!
Dip my stick
Turn

Plasti dip was a terrible invention
