This is one of the most OP things Luke has ever done. Rebuilding a fortress, hiding it, hiding within it. Then, meditating so deeply he has an out-of-body experience. That spreads his consciousness across the Galaxy.
This is why, in Crucible, when he wills himself back into existence after becoming one with the Force. Using the power of a Monolith and following Han's voice. I totally bought it. They had long since layed the groundwork.
I absolutely loved Luke using that force projection in one the sequels
Who lit the damn candle?!
That's just like in real life, astral projection/travel is no New thing in our human history. I love when they add this realities into shows, more immersive it makes them, yes yes.
@@GreenTimeEagleDid you also enjoy him milking a space creature?
This is a far better example of an Old Master.
Acting out of wisdom, not pettiness.
Luke acts out of self-reflection; seemingly to understand himself. Not running away. Not failing and giving up. I don’t think this Luke would have sought to either and die alone. This Luke was seeking something, not trying to die.
Another example as to how The Last Jedi really dropped the ball with Luke
"Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely"
Great holocron. Was nice to hear Luke's perspective
"Weakness corrupts - and absolute weakness corrupts absolutely."
Power doesn't corrupt, it reveals.
This makes a good deal of sense, he should be aware of what the disastrous effects of a Chosen One gone bad can go.
Yes this Luke makes a lot of sense
I love star wars but ive honestly not been able to really dive into it as much as id wish due to time availabilities.
This video was very informative and enjoyable to watch.
Thanks for the effort you put in!
I was never really a huge star wars fan, but your videos are so fascinating. Makes it a lot more digestible.
exactly. for me, this channel made me a star wars fan
This one channel is on full-time repeat
the main reason i enjoy star wars is becasue the characters go through so much trauma that u can really relate too. like trying to find yourself in a world where people depend of you. its tough. i love the vid keep it up
I read ALL these old books. I loved the conversations between streen and Luke . Streen wasn’t a particularly powerful Jedi , but he was very wise and fulfilled his destiny in the end.
What books are these?
@@claytongray4349 Star Wars “Legends” continuity
where can i find a good chronological list to read the canon?
@@mentillist7292 I’d start with the Darth Bane trilogy. Also all Legends books have a chronology of all “current” titles.
@@h3vystonks690 thanks, i’ve been listening to a few of these vids here and there and its got me really wanting to read them. if i may return the favour, there is a sci if/fantasy series i’m loving called Tinker by Wen Spencer
This is why I love Legends Luke Skywalker more than Disney Luke. Grandmaster Luke never gave up on people. Skywalker always saw the good in people and believed no one was beyond redemption. And not just in his father. He multiple times tried to reason with insane Dark Jedi Joruus C'boath. He convinced Mara Jade to not just let go of her hatred for him, but convinced her to marry him. He redeemed many dark siders during his fight against the Sith and the Empire. Even when Jacen Solo fell to the dark side, Luke believed that it was possible for his nephew to be redeemed. Grandmaster Luke was also courageous, willing to fight like hell for friends, family and allies. Similar to how Anakin did his best to protect his troops in the Clone War, Luke Skywalker did not believe in leaving anyone behind. He even went out of his way to rescue Talon Karrde simply cuz Mara Jade asked him to. Luke Skywalker in Legends NEVER gave up.
Disney Luke got spooked by dark images in Ben Solo's mind, thought about just killing the boy in his sleep and when he woke up after the temple's destruction, went into exile. Disney did Luke Skywalker dirty.
Star Wars was supposed to be America's Saga, like Beowulf was to Germany. Disney destroyed everything beyond redemption when they chose to try and subvert its message with w0k3 Supr3maCY.
Legends better than Disney, no arguement here
Which is naive because some people don’t have good smh.
@@phantom_mserafi "some people don't have good."
When you understand who funded the last SW Trilogy you'll understand everything you hear everyday about 'white privilege' 'Male toxicity' & all the other B.S. that were themes throughout. This is warfare. The kind of war China is waging on the West.
Luke suffered the same fear his father did. In short, fearing the loss of those he loved. He once again faced the failure he once did on a cave on Dagoba many years before. The failure of being ruled by fear. As Yoda once advised Anakin, Luke journeyed to his father's residence to train himself to let go of everything he feared to lose. As well as those expectations which came with these responsibilities. Which is why he did not know early in his journey if he would be able to return. In the end, the galaxy survived as did Luke. This realization provided Luke with the wisdom to know he could let go if need be. To choose love over fear. To remain true to the ideals of a Jedi. Primarily selflessness.
Luke is a very wise master who knows when to step back and when he is ready he shall retrun.
I’m so disappointed that we never got to see Mark Hamill as Grandmaster Luke. All they had to do was pick a story from Legends!! Instead we got what we got.
We’d need a different look-alike actor, tho. He was, and always will be, too whiney and wimpy looking.
But then the force wouldn’t be female 😂
This sounds like a lesson in boundary setting - if you dont' set boundaries you get tired and resentful, and if you're uber powered in the force, what could possibly go wrong?
to answer: You give into the Dark Side and turn into a pawn of Disney.
Bane subatomically building and fine tuning his holocrons was a badass level of force use!
Luke is so fucking powerful man. He was the ultimate Jedi and Ultimate Force user.
Wish we could have seen this materialize into film or animated series
@@mikekolb3912 he was 35 when he did all of this..
@@jamest1242rno he wasn't you clearly don't know much about the EU lore luke was 68 when he did this, it was many years after darth caedus passed away
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 Luke was 64 in Crucible
If they made a game the allows you to play as luke during the time after rotj.. telling all these stories, rpg or not, it would be an instant hit in my mind
Battlefront 2
love these breakdowns of the skywalkers! so good!
How can one defeat the dark if they don’t effectively understand it?
temptation from the knowledge of the dark side is quite great. Dark side is similar to steroids. For the short term, Dark Side will improve one's abilities in the force but at high cost in later in life. Light side is great for long term gains in the force. One of the Jedi virtue is patience. Light side practices needs that trait
@@DeathScepter Perfectly placed my man! On the other side of things... can confirm on the roids comment. Solid comparison.
i have seen what roids does with a person. Even Asthma steroids can really mess a person up. with diet and weight lifting, no more asthma
You don't have to fully understand cancer to defeat it, you don't have to be the best card player to win...
@@user-nf8kc9mj5h But you CAN'T be the best card player if you don't understand all facets of the game... You CAN'T have a high success rate of curing cancer if you don't understand cancer.
On one hand you have blind luck, on the other you have remarkable talent... the two do not compare.
Growing up 80-90’s there were so many books . I am certain I came across one of Luke in the dark side
For me, it was Dark Horse's "Dark Empire" comics.
Such a better story than the sequel trilogies.
The new movies wasted Luke’s potential. Such a shame.
I honestly didn't understand how he died lol. I feel they could keep the theme of failure since Luke is not the chosen one. But they def could work him better...
Lukes WHOLE Legacy WAS DE$TROYED by DI$NEY? Of course Ol' Mark Hamill didn't even attempt to stand up for the Character whose face he wears.!
@@UnoDoseMedia I think he stood up for Luke as much as he could tbh
I understand why he felt tired. He feared powers of the Force. He fought the Sith. He suffered Emperor's lighting, fought with Vader. It's great he defeated his fears. And faced his problems. May the Force be with you too😊
I always wonder just how powerful luke would be I he truly had let go and fallen to the dark side. When he was under the emperors control he still wasn't fully dark. His eyes never turned.I'm sure he would have been an utter monster as a Sith lord.
They need to make a Luke spin off up to the force awakens
The line of thinking of I need to disapear for the good of others... That is something I know quiet well, the fear of becoming like my dad? Or those that harmed me is something I fight with every single day. I also think on how such things are possible, and how so many go the rout of just giving into that pain and never moving on from it. They tried to run. Eventually, it tires you out, eats you, and consumes you. Till there is nothing of who you where left. The only way to combat and fight that fear is head on. To work though it. It's hard, difficult, and very very painful. For me there is no leating go of that trauma, of my trauma. I cant let go because it is a part of me. But I can learn to accept the damage done to me, that pain. And I can learn to heal. The scars will remain, they may hurt or even bleed from time to time in a sense. But with the knowledge of how to treat and stem the bleeding, and how to deal with it. I do not blead over others and make my own trauma something that controls me and devours me. This is really to me part of Like going I hurt, I need to do something about it. And learning that there is something you can do. And there is a way that does not result in you ending your own life or becoming like the ones who did those things to you.
Thanks for sharing. I'm in a similar spot as you, but it seems like not as far along. I'm struggling with what to me is traumas, two of the most difficult emotional and mental shocks I've yet experienced in my 54 years. They weren't because of the cruelty and/or indifference from others; rather they were because of things I had done or had failed to do, letting things I should've had under control get out of control.
I rationally know what it is I have to do in order to move forward, but my heart just isn't into moving on. After almost five years of just existing in a holding pattern, simply letting life come at me, I'm beginning to feel the tugs of wanting to experience life again. I'm just starting to try and begin the process of forgiving myself, but it really is difficult. I've gotten so used to living this nihilistic shell that it's almost comfortable; afterwards, after trying to be, and being, around other people (which I really do find pleasurable), I find myself wanting to retreat into my apartment and back into myself.
Ok, I really didn't expect to have a discussion about personal pain on a Star Wars fan sight comments section, but I guess I'll take. Maybe this is something put in my way to start participating in the world again. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, and I absolutely know this has gotten very emotionally unhealthy, but for longer than I want to admit, these comments sections on all sorts of channels related to my interests (Star Wars lore is actually pretty recent - and addictive!) have been a primary means of human interaction and socialization.
Thanks for helping jar me a bit into reality.
I didn't know this before now this is a great video I respect your work and thank you
Big differences is Legends did it RIGHT. an not only did Disney screw it up but they also did it WAY too early too
Also kinda funny, unless Republic Military forces after finally beating the Empire are different from the real world odd also that Luke, whom should stIll technically be an war hero, famous war vet an a Republic Officer too. Something totally stopped an everyone seemed to kinda forget even him
You can not know the reach of light if you don't understand the depth of dark. Empathy is all encompassing. The force is responsibility.
Luke: *hides for a few months
Luke: "Wait, this is stupid. Time to go back."
Jake: "AAAIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!" *hides
Jake decades later: "AAAIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!"
The brighter the light, the deeper the darkness. To find balance in that is true peace within oneself.
Great video as always Stupendous wave
Thanks again!
This is so cool love your channel
the only thing more tragic than anakin's life is luke's haircut in ep 6😭
Thank so much for sharing this! And the video edit you've used made me think of; could we still get redemption for Luke? : Thru Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni?
Getting that in video form would be insanely expensive, BUT this is perfect for animation! Imagine a animation by those two.
Dude literally practiced a force based Lego build like we did as kids 😂
Legends force use is pretty elaborate and cool 👍🏻
Truly I say to you, one of your best videos.
you should make a video covering all overpowered Lightsaber Crystal combinations, my personal number one is a Lightsaber with a Ghostfire Crystal and a Lorridian Crystal.
reminds me of the video where it is explained how the Jedi of old grew more powerful by also studying the dark side of the force, without succumbing to it, which basically has been avoided by all the more recent generations of the Jedi Order, leading to their downfall maybe - lack of knowledge backfiring
Great, great, great perspective!
Turns out the only difference between canon and legends luke is how successful they were.
And one likes weird alien nipple the other doesnt. 🤷🏽♂️ Well maybe his sister lmao 😂 for a time hey for a time
This is the pure aspect of with great power comes great responsibility
I wish they made a point from this in a series. Actually fleshed it out.
This is probably the most interesting story I've heard about luke
I would've loved to have seen some of this stuff on the big or small screens. Because this is great.
Nah Disney will ruin it and don't say Dave filoni because he is as bad as Kathleen Kennedy
It's a cool concept. Nice video
Timing is interesting, I'm getting ready to start reading the Black Fleet Crisis.
this was the story the fans wanted in the last three movies not some thief robbing and perverting the franchise!
Won't be suprised if the corrupt executives and their allies are portrayed as vile villains sometime in the near future.
Nobody really thinks anything disney made is canon
This makes Luke's "And I become a legend..." line from The Last Jedi that much more powerful.
In legends and or Cann, The galaxy is your own!
It's interesting though. I mean, he's ridiculously strong. He defeats abeloth. And though in canon he's not as strong, it's still very true to his character.
Nice Video i really did enjoy watching it.
Thanks for the visit
@@TheStupendousWaveYour welcome Stupendous Wave.
Straight up Dumbledore Luke was.
Luke must be studying the dark side as a learning experience.. something that the old Jedi order didn’t want
Id like to hear more about the women who was talking about padme, i think thatd be an awesome video if you ever get around to making it
Her name was Akanah Norand Goss Pell. She was a member of the Fallanassi, a religious order devoted to the White Current, which the Jedi knew as the Force. It was mostly an all-female group like the Witches of Dathomir and hardly ever taught men their teachings. With the White Current, the Fallanassi could do amazing things with illusions and a unique ability known as Force immersion (by which a skilled user could render themselves undetectable by any means, organic, or artificial.). But they had no skill with manipulating the physical world through abilities such as telekinesis. They taught that authority was an illusion and that everyone should serve only their own desires.
Very good video
The test of absolute power, the cure for it is to hold everything lightly. This is much more likely the development path for a character like Luke. than the Jaded Luke
"He who controls his own power is the most powerful" Yoda
Awesome video.
Love the legends books, I enjoy them more as a sequel
What is the title of the book you referenced? Also, is this prior to the Yuuzhan Vong invasion in the New Jedi Order series?
any recommendations for a chrono reading of the star wars canon?
This could have been a better trilogy than that crap with Rey
Luke's quest for his mother was halted by a power greater than both sides of the Force: George Lucas, who wanted no discussion of her until the prequels.
This novel also mentions 'The Mad Grannies' - women who had stepped forward claiming to be Anakin's long-lost wife.
He had to go Revan Mode .. To gain understanding
i want to see videos on cade swkywalker, luke haunts cade from time to time
His fear/concern is understandable
Reaching a point of power that he could end up like Anakin. A desire to keep control
Too True
You, there’s hungry people on Korriban, but does Luke use his space ship fuel bringing them food? No, he flys off to his dad’s summer home…
He does have a good point
At first I thought he was going to the Mustafar castle and I thought "And he DIDN'T go insane?"😂
I always thought coruscant was a city planet with no area uncovered by buildings.
There is a small, but disappearing part of the planet still.
4:08 it’s kind of upsetting to know that force users are this powerful, but projecting an illusion of themselves would kill them. I wonder if future force sensitives will be shown as this strong.
I love disappearing to my dad's house in the mountains too
*AND THIS IS WHY THIS LUKE IS THE BEST LUKE!!!*
I can hearer Luke saying, "I have brought, Peace, Justus, Freedom, and Security to my new Empire!!!!" And Then The force ghost of Obi-Won saying, " Your new Empire???"
I know it's not part of this video but I was curious as to why if the Stormtroopers had jetpacks previous to the original Three trilogies
I think they existed, but I don’t recall seeing any.
The first I saw of them was in a fan film using video game graphics, about the Empire losing big at the Jekku battle. Sorry, I’m brand new to this more detailed, backstory Star Wars stuff, so I can’t remember the lady’s name (she defected, her pops was an Imperial muckety muck). Anyway, she crashed her x-wing on an ISD and while she was causing chaos and mayhem, I saw some Troopers flittin’ around with their jet packs. But I don’t know the timeline of all this craziness.
Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😯😲
Since when were there beaches on Coruscant?
The difference between the light and dark sides is how you choose your power not how powerful you are and it's morality, choosing to do what is right.
It was all written out for Disney and they absolutely fumbled it.
Big time
Well this is pretty cool. This is similar to those stories where God takes a step back and lets humanity solve its problems on their own. In this case out of fear of the dark side which is the first step towards the dark side 😮
EMERALD LIGHTING
Wait a minute here!!! I was made to believe that the only surface of the planet that was exposed was a very top of the tallest mountain!!? So what is this beach front house lol?
Does anyone know what "Star Wars novel is being referred to in this video? 🤔
it's part of the Black Fleet Crisis Trilogy.
Out of the main recommended reading order for Post-Endor its the 4th trilogy, following Thrawn > Dark Empire > Jedi Academy
There are a handful of other good books post-endor, but they're more optional
It’s his castle, family inheritance 😂
Sounds like Luke needs guidance from Yoda
This feels like TLJ but done much better and more in line with Luke's character.
Way better than the last jedi, EU writers care for the character
This is so much better then the Disney canon.
Disagree, Florida Man. I want more.
@@persuasivebarrier2419🤡
So you do.🙄🙄🙄
Before i watch ;
Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader may be long dead, but their split personality ghosts remain.
Both to love Luke and hate him simultaneously.
Mustafar Castle undoubtedly had Vaders ghost that still gave Luke the chills 😨
Anybody else who entered it 🏰 not affiliated with the dark would likely feel the same.
Disney star wars isn't true star wars
Before the storm the black fleet crisis is that the book...?
Them lizards who gimicked the star destroyers to be more efficient?
What book is this information from again?
The Black Fleet Crisis
It seems wierd because I never saw Luke turning to the dark side before.
Holly shit we we might be seeing this story because it could be in Ahsoka
evil doesn't worry about not being good"
Thats cool. Even more of a reason not to make him a hermit.
He did WHAT?!
Wow there are similar traits between Anakin and Luke there great power will cause them to have high expectations of themselves except Luke can regain control himself unlike Anakin
