      I am stuck between the more ergonomic air 5560u + OLED but older GPU and less ergonomic Loki 6600u + later GPU without OLED, I wonder is there a big different in term of performance? Initially I ordered the air but after realizing Loki has better specs, I cancelled air and preordered Loki but after this video, I have to think again lol, it is your fault Taki :D

      Its really easy to learn a game the more you configure it properly for emulation. Ive been emulating the wii version of no more heroes and ive been doing the first area a lot to figure out what control schemes work with a normal controller.

      The part he didn't talk about is the probably atrocious battery life on anything that requires more than 5 W TDP. The battery on this thing is so small that you'd probably only get like 1 hour of play time.

    i hope future models have a removable battery that you can easily swap (they need to design a good locking mechanism), so that you're not forced to play it while it's charging. if the charging time is less than the minimum battery life that you can squeeze out of the device you can easily double your play time if you have 2 batteries

    On one hand, the cost of Windows handhelds is dropping dramatically from when we first saw the One Exe player and the like and the features and power are also getting a big boost. That said, the Air and Air pro are releasing at an awkward time where they are lower on horsepower (for AAA PC gaming) and cost much more than the Odin/deck (and even the cheapest Win600). I do think this will find a specific audience and glad that these are coming to the market.

      Maybe I misunderstood what you said, but the Win600 and Odin don’t come close to
      This kind of performance. I have an Odin Pro and love it, however it’s not great with PC AAA games. The Win600 price to performance is not great. The Ayn Loki Max however looks to have amazing price to performance. Reserved one and hoping for a 2030 release.😂Honestly the Win600 doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, unless you just want to play indie or old PC games. I wouldn’t buy it for AAA.

    Great video! I'd love to see a followup video with performance on Linux, given how much better drivers and thread schedulers are on Linux. I see massive performance increases, particularly in emulation, on every system I've used on Linux compared to the same system on Windows, would be very interested in seeing the performance difference here, particularly with higher-end emulation, like PS3 and Switch emulation. In RPCS3, I've actually noticed performance increases of up to 40-50% in certain games, and I've heard the performance increase can be even greater on AMD CPUs, especially when you have an AMD GPU, which has much much better drivers on Linux.

Given that AMD 6000 series (included 6000U variants) onwards have USB 4.0 support that can tap external GPU support just like Thunderbolt 4 for Intel machines, I would definitely like to see these manufacturers stepping up their games by allowing USB 4.0 ports on AMD-based PC handhelds.

    something I don't like about the steam deck is that it doesn't look full screen, I mean, it is full screen but is like it has a black square that doesn't make it feel full screen, but this one, though, I love how the emulators (PSP, PS2,etc) that kinda makes it me like it more than the deck.

    The true test for ps2 emulation the music game "frequency". If it can run frequency flawlessly aka you can hit music notes on proper time with no missing, then the emulator is set correctly. Sadly my sony xperia 1 mark 2 phone isnt powerful enough to run ps2. In my experience, i set pcsx2 to get frequency running flawlessly and then every other game runs great using the same settings.

    What handheld do you advise for emulation for PS2 and below (incl. 3DS)? Odin Lite? I am inclined for the Odin lite because of the price/performance but I saw that they have shipping problems. I will probably wait a couple of months so they sort it out and maybe drop the price, I’m not in hurry as I have a backlog of games on my pc and switch anyways.

    Might I ask how much battery should one expect at 15W TDP? Also, does the Air have easily usable gyro control support? Thanks

    • @TakiUdon
      @TakiUdon  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      15w would get you about an hour an 15 minutes of battery life with this model. It also takes about the same amount of time to do a full recharge, so that is the highest I am willing to go on this model. The Pro model offers a bigger battery that would get to close to 2 hours of battery life, but it's about $50 more than what I have in this video.

    I'm really surprised for this emulation. But how long does the battery last? because that sounds like trouble and the oled screen it makes me insecure due to a possible failure on the screen like the famous "burned". The D-pad is better o worse than that of the Win600? And I will have to wait for your review of the Loki, it seems to me a very good option and its LCD screen would make me feel calmer over the years, but damn it, the ayaneo is beautiful... My purchase will depend on your reviews Taki, don't fail me XD

    $600-$700 and by the time you get it, a newer model is out. What Ayn did was supposed to be the exception, but if everyone's gonna do it, vote with your wallet. Don't buy any product unless it's on the shelf ready to ship the next business day. Especially with everything going on in China right now, and through IGG, they're obligated to ship you sweet fuck all.
