    Thanks for this. We have a stationary coop for our layers, who can free range, and years past we took some for processing. They charge by the bird, so we thought maybe get some fryers for economy. We needed a little something for them to live in past 4 weeks. This setup will make that possible.

    My only suggestion is to make the "coop" part have a door so you could access them that way. Would also make a great rabbit tractor

    • @SPCLPONY
      @SPCLPONY 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I would have added a perch in the covered area to keep the birds from sleeping on the ground and possibly on manure. Other than that, I liked this tractor build! It's big enough to keep the average predators out, yet small enough for the kids to move it around too.

    Thanks great job and video. I would not call your wire hardware cloth though. Hardware cloth is 1/2 x 1/2 or less and it is a lot thinner wire. I know this wire as rabbit cage bottom wire and it will cost you more than hardware cloth. This is MUCH stronger wire though and is necessary if you have predators which believe me, you do!

    Is it cold where you are? I've been building chicken tractors but takes me 4 days of continued work to make them as I make them taller and with a separate wall/door to their house to keep them warm. Does your design with no floor or house wall work?

  • @YellowjacketFarms

    I am having predators eat my free range chickens is a chicken tractor the solution?
    Is there a floor, wire or something, on the bottom? If not what keeps the preditors from getting in the bottom?
    Do the chickens stay out overnight in the tractor? Is it their permanent home?
    Where do the eggs get layed and collected?

    • @FlutyLickHomestead
      @FlutyLickHomestead  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1
